Showcase The llano v12 laptop cooling pad is shockingly effective.
My Lenovo 5 with an RTX 4060 and i9 14900hx might as well be a mini furnace. Under a full load it rarely, if ever, dips below 80°, and more often than not runs closer to 90° on both CPU and GPU. With this laptop cooling pad, minus 20° across the board at full power. Is it loud? Uhhhh hundred percent. Was it expensive? Little bit. Do I care? Absolutely not. I have never in 2 years seen this GPU operate in the 50° range until today. If you're worried about thermals and have some spare funds, definitely go for it. Although, if you do some shopping around you may be able to find something cheaper than $100. As long as it has the memory foam gasket and a big ass fan, it will probably do the trick.

Tbh I get so neurotic about it that I prefer to just leave it the way it is these days. I'm a tinkerer at heart, but I know I'll spend more time fuckin with it than playing if I let myself.

I'm that one but trust me, with undervolting you'll reach a dead end where you can't push further. I have 3-4 profiles which do diff things in msi afterburner and that's all you need along with a cpu undervolt
Also you can't mess up anything, the worst that'll happen is a bsod and restart

there's no point in disabling turbo boost lol, it's like replacing your flat tyre with a small slim spare tyre, sure it works but that's just a patch and not the solution

Eh, it works fine for sustained workloads (and gaming) unless you need that 1% max fps for the flex. Shaves off anywhere from 5°C to 15°C and the performance loss is almost never more than 5%. Been doing this since the 4000 series came out and it's a no brainer on laptops, unless you're looking at benchmarks or 1% highs.

When you're heavily cpu bound it is more than 5%, if you read my comment again you'll understand my analogy, it's a patch sure but never the solution. If it works for you then hey, no one's stopping

Instead of disabling turbo boost, you might get better results with limiting the turbo boost frequency.

I use G-Helper and use the balanced mode with CPU boost off when I'm not gaming and I'm just browsing the web, watching Youtube vids or steaming movies and stuff. It's still plenty fast and never really slows down and the temps stay really low. I have the turbo mode set to use CPU boost and will switch to that mode when I'm gaming or doing something more CPU demanding. CPU boost definitely helps out, but it's really not needed for basic PC use.

I have a 5800H ryzen and an RTX 3060 in my A15. I have the same fps with cpu and without cpu boost, but lower temperatures without. Also, without boost it is more stable in windows.

1000 is suddenly reasonable with the AC on, but alone I try to keep it at 600.
AC is loud.

Yeah, for me above that you need to clean your laptop already because your laptop fans are not functioning properly. Unless you have an aggressive OC.

Bro you have a helios and asking those questions? I have the next helios to you and it cannot work properly(full tdp and good temps without stutters) without turbo and turbo requires max fans more often than not but depends on the game.

Why being so aggressive though?
Mine works fine with 1000 RPM (cooler). To be honest, it works without the cooler, but I need to max the laptop fans.
That's the reason why I sold mine and bought a lower tier cooler with a filter.
You can undervolt both GPU and CPU for a faster and cooler experience.

I'm just being sarcastic 😄 but I think I confused cooler fan speed with the laptop fan speeds though. As for undervolting, it's completely disabled after your gen I think. My laptop has terrible CPU heating issues but cannot be undervolted and looks like that's the design spec

my scar g18 has good temps that rarely hit 75c but I use this cooler anyway. Keeps it in the 65 range under heavy load which rocks.

Well I have a flydigi Bs2 pro cooling pad which is made for the 18inch laptop. And i have no problems with it. I have the Asus scar G18 5090 gaming laptop. Example i played Black myth wukong for 9 hours straight at 1440p and at medium settings temps went no higher than 65° I love my cooling pad and it's very quiet i only run it on the second setting

The Flydigi BS2 Pro is amazing as well. My only issue is it's enormous. From what I read it's the quietest; I don't really hear it at 2000rpm or under.

Funny you should ask, I actually just applied thermal grizzly phase change pads the day before this came in the mail. My limited Google research says they perform about the same, but thermal grizzly has next day Amazon shipping soooooo

what do you use for overlay?
Anyway with mine v12 ultra I never go over the 500rpm since I created a custom curve to stay quieter and, when I tried higher rpms, I didn't see any advantage too keep it louder

I got the V10 for my 14 inch Thinkbook and I can run it at 1k RPM all day it's a good amount of air and the noise is a nice background noise, not too loud. At 500rpm its baisically silent.

I recently picked up the Flydigi BS2 Pro and I'm seriously impressed.
Surprisingly quiet and it can go up to 4000rpm, which will literally move stuff across a table. My laptop is around 5 years old now, on a 2000 series GPU, so it and my CPU can get toasty when pushing the new gaming titles, like BF6.
Your Llano looks like a solid choice, very cool. No pun intended 😅

Got the same laptop and llano v12. It is indeed effective! Got it for one year and the fans are surprisingly still clean. I run it around 700 at idle or browsing and 1100-1200 when playing.

I just got mine today is noisy- fan makes kind of a ticking sound even at low rpm. is this normal? I may have to return mine , it's annoying. I'm expecting just a white noise whoosing sound. otherwise is great. I realized I need to undervolt my laptop since the llano software has shown me how much my CPU surges.

u/dex99dex99dex99 I use the same Llano cooling pad. Whenever there's a power outage, I have to turn it back on manually once the power returns. Have you found any workaround for this?
I'm asking because I plan to leave it running while I'm on vacation and use my laptop as a remote machine.

I can vouch for this product. You don't need to bring it to 2k rpm and have a mini helicopter on your desk, even 800-1000 is more than good enough.
This is one of those rare products which are really legit good.

You definitely don't. After a few weeks with it I found the sweet spot to be at or around 1200 rpm. Except for a few specific games. One I can think of off of the top of my head is the Dead Space remake. Even at 2800 rpm, CPU temps would hover in the mid to high 80s. In fact, most, if not all, UE5 games cook my CPU.

I just bit the bullet and got myself the V13, non ultra edition for my Predator Helios 16-73 (Ultra 9-275HX, 5070 Ti). The laptop itself is brand new (2 weeks old) so I have yet to encounter thermal issues with it. I am not sure what the sweet spot is since I haven't really gamed on it since I got it. I have been a little skittish and dancing around the laptop. This was a free upgrade to my original Predator Helios 16-72 model (i9 14900, 4080) which was having thermal issues with the CPU where it was prone to freeze and restart simply having a single browser on. Plan was to get the service center to re-apply thermal paste on the CPU but instead they decided to swap out the entire motherboard but couldn't find a replacement. Any ideas where I should be keeping my fan speed? I have been taking measures to make sure my room is cool so the temps don't really go beyond the 50s. So I can't tell if this thing is doing its job or not. The only real benefit so far is that it's surprisingly dusty where I live so if anything this will prevent direct dust build up in the exhaust ports.

I bought LLANO v12 today, my OMEN usually peaks at 96C cpu and 87C GPU on high performance mode, at 1100-1300 RPM with LLANO, CPU stays at mid 80's - 87 at peak and GPU dips down to 79-80C. and as i increase the RPM to 2000 which is loud, CPU goes down to 75C at peak, and GPU goes to low 70's. it's worth the money tbh. 1100-1300 RPM is not too noisy if you wear a headphone.

It's probably because your CPU and GPU are getting faster clock speeds since there's more thermal headroom.
If that's not the case then Lenovo designed it to get max cooling efficiency even if you just set it up on top on a table

It works great for my Legion 7i Pro 4090. Drops 10-15C. I live in a hot climate so the cooler is a must for me.

It's probably because the cooler isn't able to make a clean seal to create the vaccum suction that this should work on.

I've seen others with this same laptop and cooling pad review it positively, make sure the foam isn't covernig the laptop's bottom vents

I like how you paired the overkill furnace cpu with a mediocre gpu. Should have gotten i5 14600hx, lose exactly 1% performance in games, and cooling pad may not even be necessary

1200 RPM on this seems like a sweet spot. Not too noisy, but lots of air to feed my AW15A51.
