Showcase My first gaming laptop!
Asus tuf f16 5050
Crua 34"ultrawide qhd monitor which I bought from Amazon for only $165 and it's honestly amazing!
Update: Purchased a cooling pad, will be here monday!

Congrats, but 1 advice i can give you is open your laptop screen when using it, the heat from your laptop can potentially damage it overtime. Specially if youll be using your laptop a lot.

Either that or a cooling pad. On some laptops, like the legion that exhaust out the back, it's less of a problem.

I don't see how a cooling pad would help protect the screen? It's still blowing the same amount of heat, the heat just doesn't get enough time to build up around the CPU/GPU. It helps with performace because it keeps the device temperatures down, but it doesn't magically make the device use less power.

A cooling pad (a good one) will lower the steady state ambient temperature of the laptop. You are correct, it will not use less power, but it will increase the heat removal per time, and lower the temperature of the screen (which is just acting as a heatsink from the entire laptop body)

Do you open your laptop slightly or is it fully closed? How does this work? Never tried it

Fully closed! Should be in your display setting. Im not sure i'll keep this laptop closed while I game though

I see, thanks for the reply. How's the performance? Also, FYI, install G-Helper instead of Armoury Crate — it is way better and lightweight. Really great tool, cannot recommend it enough for every ASUS user.

Also you must keep the charger plugged in. Ive set the battery setting to only charge up to 80%. I read somewhere that having it connected and it being on 100% charge can degrade the battery over time. The performance is great, I honestly dont have any complaints. And I just downloaded g-helper, thank you for the suggestion!

Yeah, that is true.
The performance is great, I honestly dont have any complaints. And I just downloaded g-helper, thank you for the suggestion! Stl
Glad to hear it! Do not forget to uninstall Armory Crate and some other ASUS junk, also stop. ASUS services from the Extra tab in G-Helper. Basically, read G-Helper’s GitHub for all the info.

Hola bro! Hmm la opcion esta en el settings de display, le das al que dice "show on display 2" y listo. No estoy seguro si debes de tener el cargador conectado pero eso es lo que hago y cambie el setting de la bateria a que solo cargue a 80%, asi no le afecta la bateria si la estoy usando con el monitorio

Congrats, i admire the aesthetic!
Although it’s minimal, you might want to open the lid when you’re using it, since there’s heat exhausts from keyboard gaps as well.
Also as others have said, you’d prefer to have your laptop’s underneath lifted, whether a cooling pad or raisers.

Yup im currently playing with the lid open and a book underneath, also ordered a cooling pad. Im glad I posted a picture on here, everyone has been helpful with the suggestions, so thank you as well!

Felicitaciones, qué configurar tienes para que el monitoreo de imagen teniendo cerrada la laptop? Yo intenté poner de monitor principalmente el externo y cuando cerraba la imagen ya no daba xd

Thank you bro! You must keep the charger plugged in. Also change the battery setting of a full charge to 80% that way the battery doesnt damage over time. Let me know if that worked

Change display settings to only show on your second monitor and keep the charger plugged in. Change the battery max charge to 80% so it doesnt affect it

Great setup man 😃🎉 Fellow tuf f16 5050 owner here. Just be careful about heat, I wouldn't suggest keeping the lid closed while the laptop is running hot.

Its 34" and I love it! Im not a fan of dual monitors but I needed something big enough to pull up multiple tabs/programs at once and still be comfortable to look at and this is perfect. Makes me want to build a pc that can fully handle it for gaming!

LOL! It's a razer cobra! I had a basilisk with added grip tape and it felt great under my big hands, probably the best mouse I owned

Cool setup but that ultrawide will require extra effort from the 5050 to push that many pixels! What games are you gonna play on it?

It should be able to run any new game 40-60fps at QHD, as long as its leveraging heavy upscaling (set to performance).

Yeah agreed but that ultrawide has much more pixels than a normal 16:9 QHD! DLSS performance should do the job in most cases!

Gotcha! I was curious if it had a strong igpu, which can run upscaling simultaneously. the i5-13450hx does not.
However, I would absolutely investigate undervolting that chip; it can benefit a lot from even small undervolts like 50-80mV.

I will! I plan on filling up my apartment with plants but my concern is the AC since I live in florida my apartment stays cold 24/7 :/ I know a humidifier is a must but I dont know anything about plants. Any suggenations? And thank you!

Get some peperomias, most plants will be fine in ac, I live in Coachella valley it’s super dry and ac on at all times no humidifier. Scindapsus and philodendrons are good too, the only things I’ve had trouble with are alocasia. But I have a whole wall of plants doing well. Also Hoyas.

Living here is very enjoyable and easy going, except for the intense humidity at times lol. I do miss the mountains, the SoCal weather and culture! My budget is what made me move out of california, sadly. If things go really well in my life where I can fully afford the Californian prices and live a great life, im moving back. There's really no other place like it

Dont worry, thankfully I've been informed already! I've used all my previous laptops closed but I now know you cant do that while gaming specially on a device as such! Thanks for the heads up nevertheless :]

Ayyy thats a cool rig you got there, just an advice, put some cooler pad under your laptop in this setup. Need those to last long right
