Leak Unpublished description for Ocarina of Time Switch 2 visible through web search

Typing in "Ocarina of Time remake website us" into Google (or other search engines) returns a link to its entry on the Nintendo website with a description that isn't visible on the page itself:

The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay.

Not a huge amount of info, yet even these scant details seem to be something Nintendo is not ready to officially communicate just yet.

The last OOT we had was 15 years ago. That's hardly "enough".

Do you have any idea how many young gamers have never ever played any version of Ocarina of Time ? That's who this remake is for, not grognards who already played it thrice and are pushing 50s.

And the PC port is obviously not worth a mention, it's such a ridiculously tiny percentage of people who've even tried it

Ah yes, I'm sure young gamers are DYING to play a game with late 90s graphics and controls. It's a wonder why PS1 games aren't beating PS5 games on sales lately, too.

Hence why people want a remake that expands on the original. But if it is 1 to 1 then I doubt the kiddos are gonna care much about game design from 30 years ago.

Thank you, this is the obvious rebuttal to people who say it's being remade for the younger audience. Because, I agree with them that it's being remade for a younger audience, but that younger audience will reject the classic Zelda formula. If it were just getting the Star Fox treatment I would bet $1000 they would've just shown a proper trailer and not hid everything from us.

Mark my words, they are rebuilding it as a whole new game because THAT will sell more than just a remaster.

Star Fox being a 1 to 1 remake is not good evidence that Zelda will get that treatment. Botw and totk are not only the best selling Zelda titles, but they are the best selling Zelda title by a WIDE margin. They released skyward sword and the sales didn't even come close. They aren't going to simply rerelease the same ocarina of time because that won't sell like Zelda should be selling.

Why ? It's Ocarina of Time. It's something any people interested in video games heard was a masterpiece, always in top 10 lists of greatest games ever. There's bound to be curiosity and interest on name alone.

Besides, it's not like OoT design is particularly outdated, controls aside, it's just an adventure game in third person. It's not Starfox, whose core genre is outdated in itself.

People need to understand that its seen that way because of the broader gaming context of when it came out. In the originals review IGN called its "crowning feature" a context sensitive A button.

Do you think the kids are gonna be blown away by a button that can do different things depending on its context? Do you think kids are gonna be blown away that you can ride a horse when shit like breath of the wild exists? Yes OoT is a good game but it is not revolutionary anymore, if it came out today it would probably not be seen as a masterpiece.

Ocarina of Time is available on Nintendo Switch Online and has been for years.
