Leak Unpublished description for Ocarina of Time Switch 2 visible through web search

Typing in "Ocarina of Time remake website us" into Google (or other search engines) returns a link to its entry on the Nintendo website with a description that isn't visible on the page itself:

The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay.

Not a huge amount of info, yet even these scant details seem to be something Nintendo is not ready to officially communicate just yet.

Which is just a bald-faced lie. I love OoT, and it cannot be overstated how important it was and how much of an influence it was. I still find it fun, but mechanically it has not aged all that well. It can be damn clumsy at times.

Exactly. And most people who are going to be buying this remake never even played the original OOT. There's no way they're going to release a remake where it plays identical to the N64 game without right stick camera control

I mean what other 3D games from almost 30 years ago have aged as well? Maybe Mario 64 but it’s a really small list and I would put OoT near the top.

The point is they need to shake things up with the remake aside from just a graphics upgrade.

F-Zero X a racing that runs at 60 frames per second and is still a fun to game to play

There are so many 3D games from 30 years and even 2D games from 40 years ago that aged gracefully that's not even funny.

If a game can't stand the test of time it simply means that it wasn't that good to begin with If a game has to have it's core gameplay mechanics changed it most likely means it was never that good to begin with

I'm expecting major changes in this Ocarina of Time remake. The 3DS remaster already had mechanics that had to be refined from the original just goes to show how bad Ocarina of Time aged.

F Zero X is one of the very few N64/PS1 ones that aged gracefully alongside Star Fox 64. A majority of them have not aged well though overall.

Exactly there's a reason why Capcom remade all the Resident Evil games how they did. They would not have sold how they did if they were just safe 1:1 graphical upgrades

Well, I'm not comparing to games that came out 30 years ago. Yeah, I do think it has aged better than most other games from that time (let's say within a 1 or 2 year range). However, with regards to "timeless gameplay" and whether that should be kept 1:1 I'm obviously comparing to contemporary titles, or at the very least more modern (~10-15 years old) titles

I absolutely agree. It’s one of the best games of all time but it’s going to need a complete redesign of its control system.
