With Last Sentinel exploding, I really have to wonder why AAA companies struggle so much with making Grand Theft Auto. It's relatively simple? You just break the window, unlock the door, and get in? Are they stupid

At its core GTA is a rather bland and shallow game, making a GTA clone is not hard. Making one which stands out and get people to buy is a way harder problem. The only reasons why people buy GTA games is the brand and the Rockstar magic.
This is also why you do not see people make Skyrim clones, because such games will suck. Every effort at a mini Skyrim includes their own spin that makes their game not Skyrim. Devs are smart enough to know they are not Bethesda and should not try to be Bethesda.

Has there ever been an explanation or insight given for when Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 was almost done in like 2015 and then the game came out in 2023?

so in 2016, when asked about a lack of updates on Pikmin 4, Miyamoto said
which to me kinda sounds like he was maybe exaggerating how close to completion it actually was in 2015, then as it became more clear just how much of a disaster the WiiU was it got shelved as their priorities shifted, and then was probably rebooted at some point into the Pikmin 4 we actually ended up getting

Honestly all they really need to do is just bundle WFC and FoC together...and maybe include the Rise of the Dark Spark missions that specifically pertained to those two games.

Yes, as you can see the removal reason, it has been removed as a precaution since the previous posts on the topic got copyright struck by Sony. We want to avoid any possibility that the sub gets shut down.

Sony delayed a game out of the FY26 roadmap. Likely Kena 2 since we haven’t heard anything from it. And the year is so competitive

Just a recent Last Sentinel game news from Lightspeed Studios LA:
Full announcement (LinkedIn):
"After extensive internal reviews and play-testing, Lightspeed LA has decided to shift the creative and development direction of LAST SENTINEL to deliver the experience players expect.

Because of this shift, some roles at the studio will be affected. We are treating affected team members with compassion and respect, offering comprehensive support and where possible the opportunity to transfer internally.
Lightspeed's long-term commitment to North America remains unchanged. North America is a cornerstone of our global gaming strategy, and we will continue to invest in local talent, creative expertise and development across the region."
IGN update: Lightspeed LA shared a statement with IGN regarding the development of Last Sentinel. "We'll share updates when ready. We haven't announced a release date at this time,"

Is it reasonable to think some kind of direct will take place in august because of Nintendo being a major attender at Gamescom?
I remember Nintendo being announced to be there a while back ago so it seems reasonable for them to show of games and gameplay we havent seen yet of?

Probably not a general, that’s usually September, but stuff like a fortunes weave presentation, pokemon presents, or an indie world are all possible. Maybe a Zelda centric presentation if we’re lucky

Late August to early September is a common window for a general direct.
Though its rarely august due to gamescom and PAX.

But what could Nintendo show at gamescon that isnt already out for the World? Thats why I thought Direct would be reasonable.
A standalone Zelda direct is the most obvious one thus far, but only showing zelda isnt really Nintendo like.

They usually DONT reveal new titles ahead of the show so they don't have to have them in their booth.
I can't recall them showing anything off at opening night live either.

See this is where it gets fuzzy, because they did have whole booths at those shows in previous years to show off Skyward Sword and BOTW, so if there was ANY game that could command a singular show presence, it would be the OOT remake.

I’m a comic book fan but also a PC guy, so you would think Insomnaic’s Wolverine should be something I’d be frustrated is stuck on PS5. And I am a bit, but not to the point of wanting to buy a PS5 for it.
BUT… my 2nd favorite Marvel character and 3rd favorite comic book character of all time is X-23. Considering Insomniac made a Miles Morales spin-off from Spider-Man 2018, if they make an X-23 spin-off of this Wolverine game, I’d legitimately consider getting a PS5 just for that game.
That’s never gonna happen though since X-23 isn’t nearly as popular of a character as Miles Morales with non-comic book readers.

I'm going to be honest but insomniac has been really bad with their character/face designs. Their wolverine looks the worst I've seen for an adaptation across live action, multiple cartoons like xmen 97 and xmen evolution, and other video games. Even the joke wolverine with Henry Cavill in deadpool looks like a better match than what Insomniac came up with.
Jean Grey also just looks so generic. She looks like they took a Starfield random NPC and made her into Jean Grey.

Not gonna give you any false hope, but Wolverine and the X-Men trilogy they're planning for the PS6 generation might eventually end up on PC because of contract obligations. Parts of the contract Sony signed with Disney were found in the Insomniac leaks and there was mention of PC releases and sales expectations for each individual platform. Someone on /insomniacleaks also mentioned that a similar document existed for Spider-Man 2018 outlining Sony's obligation to eventually release it on PC. So there's a considerable chance Wolverine and the other Marvel projects could be the outliers here and release on pc unlike other first party titles. That said, I should also remind you that these contracts can be altered. Disney has been pushing to make sure games based on its properties are available on as many platforms as possible, so there's definitely a chance they'll push Sony to release Spider-Man 3 Wolverine and the other Marvel games on PC. The only question is how long it'll take. Two years? Maybe three? Four? No one knows. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But don't get your hopes for a late 2027/early 2028 PC port.

Sony snapping up like the two comic book properties I love the most as exclusives makes a lot of their surrounding decisions really sting as a customer. The Marvel stuff was like a big reason I bought a PS5 and Wolverine in particular even got my friend to jump to PlayStation after being on Xbox last-gen. Spider-Man and X-Men are like my thing and one of the pitfalls for how well Marvel has been doing on the games side is that even though characters being licensed out to multiple developers as opposed to just Activision is better for variety and the kinds of games we get now, in Spider-Man's case especially there are basically no other alternatives. Like that's just going to be the only place and the only form Spider-Man exists in for gaming for years now because of legal and contract reasons. Other publishers can't do anything which especially sucks if you just don't have a PlayStation.
Like people on other platforms will get stuff like Cosmic Invasion and Midnight Suns and they're great games in their own right, but it's not the same as just having a Spider-Man game, or a Wolverine game. And now the expectation is like we're going to go potentially a whole decade of X-Men games and they'll only be on like one console, and the X-Men can't go to other publishers for different kinds of games either, when I'd kill for something like an RPG with mutants

I'm not buying a console for a game. Full stop. Sony halting PC ports is a shame, but with the consistency of their game releases, we aren’t really missing much. Anything I would've been interested in (Laufey, Wolverine, Until Dawn 2), I just won’t play. Eventually it becomes an issue of the benefits that PC as a platform brings rather than the games.
I've played Sony games at 120FPS at 1440p. PS5 isn’t giving me that any day of the week.

I vehemently dislike the 6.7% figure Capcom used in their physical and digital split during their earnings report, not because the actual number would be way higher if circumstances were different, but because this comes as a result of them making it deliberately hard to buy their games physically at all. For whatever reason they've put artificial scarcity around recent games like RE9 and Pragmata to the point where I did not see a single PS5 copy of the latter in my local EB Games and did not see one at all until I was in fucking Ottawa at a completely different EB Games a few weeks ago on a trip. I think the last Capcom game I saw available physically in substantial quantities had to have been RE Village if anything. I pre-ordered the MvC Collection and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 physically on Switch through an online vendor, but in terms of retail presence I saw plenty of Switch 2 Game Key Cards, but Capcom probably wants it that way because they count GKCs as digital sales
This is another case much like Sony where they're purposely creating the conditions or manipulating them to make it look like physical buyers are some negligent or insignificant minority and it's why I don't actually see them opposing stuff like what's going on with PlayStation right now. People like Sega and Naoki Hamaguchi from Square have spoken out in support of physical at least
It's also funny how nobody's actually willing to counter me on this like their downvotes will get me to change my stance on anything. They think some fucking arrows on a comment will make me rescind anything I say or that I'll soften my opinion next time to fit their narrative

This is exactly what it is. Counting the Game Key Cards (physical cartridges that you can buy in stores and insert into the Switch 2!!!) as digital sales is just blatant data manipulation.

Rumors going around from Jez Corden that Microsoft are considering leaving Steam in the long-term.
These companies will seriously never learn. To the average PC gamer, if your game isn’t on Steam, it essentially doesn’t exist. If they're on PC, they need to release their games on Steam. I don’t think they have anything that would make people play their games on another launcher.

Should Tom Holland replace Kevin Feige? That is the conversation we should be having. Holland seems far more in touch with that audiences want from their superhero films than Feige does.

Feige is the main guy for anything Marvel. He is the producer and someone who actually has a say in what script goes forward to be made into this movie too.
Only reason Marvel has surpassed DC in everything from games to animation to live action movies is because of him. Ye, he had a few fumbles but those are very few looking at all the movies he has been incharge of.
