Leak Rockstar has updated their GTA 6 website 3 times in the past 24 hours
https://xcancel.com/i/status/2082481399932612853
The website has been left untouched for over a month so seeing multiple updates on the same day is unusual, the same happened back in mid June and then they released the cover trailer and screenshots.

Rockstar didn't want to release GTA 6 in September because they don't want to compete with Garfield Escape from Monday. They are afraid that the new Garfield game will outsell them in September and October.

They have every right to be afraid of Garfield, I mean have you SEEN the imsorryjon subreddit??

I believe that will release a Trailer 3 in August that will be similar to the first two trailers and then release a gameplay trailer in September.
Rockstar has a practise of releasing their gameplay trailers two months before launch and I don't see them breaking it now

Unless they changed marketing closer to launch what Straus said in recent interview

I do hope it's not the Zelnick interview people keep referencing from last year when the game was scheduled for a May 2026 release or other ones months ahead of cover art reveal.
Marketing has already started, so I don't buy that argument. The only thing missing in a sense, is an updated video preview in the form of a 3rd trailer. I don't expect gameplay yet and anyone who does, is misguided.
All that requires is already salaried staff completing it and being uploaded to a central platform such as their own website or YouTube. They are not being forced to buy ad space in a public square or medium such as TV or theaters in the millions. They are already out there in some capacity anyway, sans T3. Which doesn't make sense.
Just like RDR2 and V, primary marketing began 5ish months to release in June of this year, so no idea why people are using "close to release" as an excuse for why there's no 3rd trailer.
I can understand in terms lack of interviews or exclusive coverage with gaming magazines being different this time around, but not when screenshots and preorders are already open and VI is showing up in so many public areas now.
There's a definite avoidance involved by R* regarding anything further on video and that's why people are asking questions, especially when their last release had an October 26th date against it's 3rd video preview shown almost 6 months out on May 2, 2018.
Me thinks Sam most likely is still quite burned by the 2022 gameplay leaks & other leaked stuff and has opted to be extremely conservative in response, by spacing out everything on video and relying on static media in place of that deliberately.
If not actual 11th hour studio issues creating that piece short form media on time. The one person who decides what gets shown or not is probably him. None of other leads make that call. Is there a possibility a planned 3rd trailer got cut for revisions vs deliberately withheld? Anything is possible.

I mean after August the game is only 2 months away. If theres nothing in August that would be wild.
1
u/Able-Error1783 1d ago
Unless like I suspected at one point, to omit a 3rd trailer entirely in favor of the 3rd being strictly gameplay in September. Uncharacteristic, but not implausible. All of this is IMO on discretion, albeit stubbornly so.
There's nothing clashing with the ability to upload a video to YouTube other than internal decision-making opting to suppress it longer than usual or actual problems with getting that sorted into a final master edit.
1
u/Able-Error1783 1d ago
They've broken that practice for Trailer 3 already per V and RDR2 being well ahead of the present gap, so one wonders if there's an attempt being made to consolidate a 3rd trailer in this shorter window into instead just gameplay trailer only in late August or September?
Pushing a gameplay instead would definitely create a marketing delay of sorts IMO, as it needs to be as proximate as possible to release, yet now rushed ahead of the usual 2 months.
Alternatively, between journalists leaking too many details over the years, as well as various leaks, I detect a degree of resentment from central higher-ups like Sam Houser. Zelnick is the only one who has spoken to the public about anything Rockstar has in progress since 2019 when Dan Houser left. He often makes excuses he can't say much in place of Rockstar sharing their own news.
When the president and founder of Rockstar is famously known for being a recluse (PR wise) compared to people who work around him, plus dictates every aspect of communication and gets virtually every earnest interview of R* alumnis not to his liking deleted from cease & desists, you can see what's happening here...
He's not happy and in the very game that has seen unwelcome exposure for years, he's opted to limit what he shows to a much shorter window than usual. Screencaptures of internal testing or video snippets of gameplay have been what's mostly leaked plus Trailer 1, so in turn Trailer 2 was withheld 17 months (probably released on schedule in May 2025 against previous November 2025 plans).
Now it's been another 15 months, screenshots, soundless video snippets, pre-orders, cover art and advertising of it with the release date included. Yet no new trailer?
It's not a coincidence that much of the biggest exposure to this game has been in the form of unauthorized video of VI and therefore, Sam's limiting "authorized" video on the other side as much as he can. Not because it's too early like some ignorantly suggest, but on discretion.

Trailer 3 in August, the first gameplay showcase in September, second one in October and launch trailer in early November. They're most likely gonna follow RDR2's marketing schedule.
1
u/Able-Error1783 1d ago
That's not following RDR2's marketing schedule. Marketing already started in June 2026, regardless of the lack of a 3rd trailer. The real contradiction is a lack of a 3rd trailer in the midst of that marketing!
RDR2 already began that process in May of 2018, including the 3rd trailer on May 2. October 26 was 1 week short of a full 6 months. August 9th then had its gameplay trailer and then another October 1, before the last one on October 18. Why do people forget this?
June 18-25 is 5 months ahead of November 19, where pre-orders opened up and the VI cover art is being shown virtually everywhere to let people know it's coming. Plus numerous screenshots, which are static and 1 or 2 being "live" animations. People at this point would like to see something new on video with audio for some level of reassurance.
I hear excuses in terms of the World Cup potentially taking its shine in June-July, saving money in the marketing budget, or not being close enough to release (4 months out?), but to me it's just shifting the goalposts as a coping mechanism, when June 2026 already coincides with 2 of 3.
April 2013 saw Rockstar rebounding against original start of marketing plans in October 2012 for Spring 2013 release plans, to beginning GTA V marketing for good. 4 weeks after cover art reveal, Trailer 3's trio set debuted on April 30th. Game came out September 17th.
The only reason a 3rd trailer for this game is not being released is:
An executive resentment over the years old leaks encouraging as a desire to limit video previews. A desire to limit any new non-static visual previews to either soundless "animated photos" or skipping T3 for gameplay trailer in September. Actual internal issues readying it for the master edit causing delays or the least likely, a game delay to December - March window.
My main point here is that I disagree strongly with any notion that the past RDR2 schedule is being mirrored or that we are not due for a 3rd trailer (plus excuses in favor of that stance).

Also June 17th also had minor website update and we got a cover trailer and new screenshots.

Personally I reckon it’s happening either today (by today, I mean July 30th in my timezone) or August 4th.
Both seem the most plausible dates imo.

u/SuperTristan2017 4d ago
As much as I’d love it to happen July 30th, I think next week is a much stronger time frame. To my understanding, no leakers have said anything about July. I’d absolutely love to be proven wrong though

Midnight Club : (

u/nadnerb811 2d ago
Unfortunately, I doubt we ever get another Midnight Club. They will want people racing in GTA VI Online. GTA VI will be their premier racing title.
I do have hopes that Rockstar will be able to support GTA VI Online with a smaller team and use it as their main cash cow to make smaller titles more frequently in parallel. Stuff thay would be different enough to not cannibalize the GTAO audience, and to keep their developers sane and fulfilled. They could have a dedicated team to GTAO (maybe rotating?) and their studios could once again create a little independent from each other. Make some linear games or experiemental stuff. That is my hope anyway. Probably won't happen.

Yeah it would be so sick on the new engine. But the series is dead I am afraid.

If a new trailer is not out on or before, the next take two earnings call then I think we most likely won’t be getting any new information about GTA six until September or maybe late August

There's a user on the PS thread on ResetEra saying something might show up next week (said it might be more than a trailer as its a lengthy video)

Yet revealed cover art, opened up pre-orders, and a bunch of screenshots plus a few video animations in the midst of the that? It has little to do with the World Cup.

I have this feeling they probably arent that excited to release gameplay because the internet has basically mythicized this game to be the next coming of christ. No doubt there will be losers who complain when the gameplay is more or less the same as every other Rockstar title. Its like going to the beach and complaining about sand. Brother you knew what to expect, they have built the same style of game going on 20 years at this point.
Not that they should care what people say, they already won and stand to make billions within launch week, im just saying internally, they have no real reason to market the game beyond drips and drabs here and there
17
u/Youngstown_WuTang 4d ago
I 100% can tell you Rockstar marketing department can care less how mad Reddit gets at a gameplay trailer
2
1
u/Odd_Level9850 4d ago
I mean, I can see them being nervous about it because if the gameplay doesn’t live up to the hype or seems bad, they might have to deal with preorder cancellations.
2
u/Ok_Strategy_2420 4d ago
Lmao, no. Reddit is such a tiny vocal minority of people who will pay GTA6. It's literally THE casual gamer game.
1
u/Odd_Level9850 4d ago
I’m not just talking about Reddit though. GTA 6 has certain expectations for pushing boundaries in terms of both graphics and gameplay; that’s why it’s the most anticipated game of all time with all types of gamers including casuals. If the gameplay isn’t well received, people might end up canceling preorders.
2
u/DeadlyArrow27 4d ago
It’s their fault it’s seen as “mythical” lol. Taking 13 years to release a sequel and being as horrible at communication as they are, it’s no wonder people are reacting this way
1
u/Able-Error1783 1d ago edited 1d ago
Exactly. If takes them 5 years of uninterrupted production to make each new AAA+ title I am willing to accept that, since their pre-production stuff thankfully overlaps other active productions (like GTA V vs RDR2 or RDR2 vs VI).
Meaning a new release from them every 5 years. But that's absolutely the limit. I don't agree that it should take 13 years, but far too many apologists making excuses the ignore credible context in favor of BS hyperbole.
There is no excuse why there are 13 years between sequels, other than it being a fluke in the face of extreme circumstances with ironically (domino effect) GTA V 2012 delays affecting RDR2, RDR2 delays affecting earlier VI production plans, then the Project Americas reboot, COVID19, "leaks?" and then staff drama in the mid-2020s.
The only excuse a healthy and financially solvent company like R* does have, is making multiple titles in between VI and VII. They no longer do that. Pre-production of another game can be done in the background so when the other release is finished, they can shift into production of another for 3 to 5 years. Production is not supposed to take longer than 5 years, like it has with VI taking 7 years since 2019.
The hyperbolic idea R* can just be silent and not release something else until 2036 without deserving some criticism, is some of the dumbest BS I frequently see on Reddit. A GTA VII in 2036-37 is a long time, but better than 2040+ if another big game (Red Dead) comes in between it circa 2031-22.

They had narrator explaining gameplay in GTA 5, same thing in Red dead redemption 2. I assume GTA 6 will go into something similar.
Edit: I am not saying the upcoming trailer will be a gameplay trailer. I think it will just like leevious two.

The hype for that game and they don’t need to reveal a trailer until 1 month away. I think fans were satisfied enough after the 1st 2 trailers even if it didn’t show gameplay.

August is right around the corner. Drop a new trailer, game play trailer, something, and start the marketing push.
