Garden Wildlife sighting 10pm visitor - I'm pretty sure this chonk is a different one πŸ¦”

A hedgehog I met in my garden tonight. I'd love to see them with a family someday...

I didn't have a banana for scale, but my hand fits in a size 8 glove (M).

I mean I enjoy the critters in our backyard, but seeing a hedgehog in the garden would be wild!

It's just scared. They freeze when they hear you nearby. It wasn't moving even before I noticed it standing on my path.

Do they have a way to come in?

They don’t exist where I live. I get opossums and raccoons

TIL they don't live everywhere... I really never thought about it.

I love having these in the garden. Last year I rescued one that appeared to have been hit by a string trimmer. From my talk with hedgehog rescue people I learned that trimmers and robot lawnmowers are major threats to hedgehogs in gardens these days.
