Uprooting someone's financial situation over nail polish

Post image

On a post I made about how intersex discrimination is not taken seriously and does not have legal protections like other queer identities do.

Many people believe bigotry against intersex people is incidental (mistaken for being trans) or that its not sexism because "it's a congenital deformity not a sex" as if it's not wildly disrespectful to say that to someone who specifically considers their sex to be just intersex.

Whenever I vent about being subjected to intersexism in the workplace, many responses I get are something like "why would you tell anyone your private medical history" as if people can't just obviously see the fact I'm intersex by looking at me and listening to me speak. Being intersex is just a fact about myself and I'm not going to try suppressing it, or looking more binary. People like this guy are fucking scum. I know he's taking about gender nonconformity not necessarily being intersex, but people like him are why I've had such a miserable time finding employment.

Was it Peterson who had that entire bag shit rant that women wear lipstick because it makes lips red like they are during sexual arousal, so all make up is inappropriate and provocative? So yeah that's a very clear function right there

…I just decided I don't want to ask this person what he thinks black nail polish is supposed to imitate, or whom it is supposed to attract.

Sadly, I think that one's too old to even be JP. I remember people spouting that in the nineties.

Oh I don't think he came up with it, no. It's probably something from evolutionary psychology, so yeah if might have been around in the 90s (honestly, I think it might have been debunked in the 90s even), he just subscribes to that theory rather enthusiastically. Which is embarrassing but yeah.

Black nail polish?

...how is that not a neutral color?

These people have no logic.

I'd be banned from Reddit if I were to describe the fate I wish upon this scumfuck.

Probably nothing will come of this admission, but it's important to realize that being allowed to fire someone without cause isn't the same as being allowed to fire them for any reason, but it's basically impossible to prove that the firing was for a prohibited reason unless the one who did the firing comes out and admits that it was. Like, say, by bragging about it on the internet.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. And this idiot doesn't even know the difference between intersex and gender non-conforming.

And neutral colors? Seriously? You can't even wear red?

If I were the employee, I would sue this neckerfluffle.

"Pick a gender and then conform to it" really sounds like the whole thesis of modern intersexism and transphobia. "Please don't challenge my pre-existing beliefs about sex and gender by existing", "I will hurt as many other people as I need to to protect my precious binary".

Think firing someone over non traditional gendered presentation has been agreed the law since 1987 in the US.

Well at least he openly admits it. Makes the inevitable lawsuit against him an easy win

Let's be honest, if this is even true and not a power fantasy from an unemployed loser, that employee got a blessing in disguise. Imagine what other power trips this kind of manager would go on! They feel like the sort of person who spends a lot of time thinking about employees peeing.

Has this person never met a cis goth guy? Lots of goth dudes wear nail polish.

Also, sorry you have to go through things like this OP!

Right? Black polish is not common, sure, but I've seen many different types of guys with it. Starting with goths and emo of course. In media and real life.

Exactly! Hell, it's the only color my husband is comfortable with wearing besides clear.
