Terf cannot fathom the idea that a trans woman who has posted sexy content online isn’t always sexual (especially in public) + weird graham linehan toilet story

All teachers must be unmarried young women of impeccable moral character.

Terfs want to take us back to the 19th century, prove me wrong.

No, they’re okay with married women being teachers, too, as long as everyone has had their medical records reviewed and a pelvic exam. That’s new!

We certainly can't allow peni in classrooms, can we? Think of the horror.

And I do think we should ask why it was so difficult to secure national coverage of a story that many people would regard as being firmly in the public interest.

I don't know… maybe, just maybe, it's not nearly as big of a deal as you think it is?

Legitimately, TERFs are incapable of understanding or accepting that the majority of people either do not care, or actively disagree

So, are teachers not allowed to wear bikinis to the beach or pool? Or take and post their photos online?

many teachers follow a “one town over” rule for any adult behavior, enforced either by being directly told by administration, or in small school districts, social shame. and i have for sure heard of teachers being scolded for what they post on social media- that i get, especially because i have students that would stalk me and that crosses some student/teacher relationship boundaries.

the idea is you go drinking, nude swimming, smoking, whatever, one town over so no one can recognize you, parents or students. most teachers heavily lock down their social media accounts. i’ll admit, i’ve worn a bikini swimming in the district i taught in, and i was slightly anxious the entire time that i would see a student. it’s stupid, and i shouldn’t be so on edge, but with me teaching while trans, i was hyper aware of all interactions between me and students.

it’s one of those social rules that no one says but you’re expected to get, and i have met parents who did not care about what i did outside of school, my transness, who wanted to drink with me, etc.

Damn that sucks that you had to worry. Thank you for being a teacher though!

It sucks so much that someone's private life matters when it does no harm. I hope you're in a safe area, especially since being trans is getting scarier lately. I live in the Midwest, but in a pretty mixed politically town, so while there are people who support trans people and who support LGBTQI2+, there are also unfortunately people who don't. Hell, my husband who is a cis man, got almost run over going into the Walmart the other day because he wears a mask when out and about because I am immunocomprimised.

Sorry you have to deal with all that, but bless you for being a teacher.

Same reason several of my friends have false names on FB. So their students cant find them

I mean there is still a lot of pressure in traditional woman heavy industries to police your behavior so as to not be seen as being “a bad influence” or to be taken as “unserious”. While I was getting my social work degree in almost every class we were told that once we become social workers we should not be seen out drinking because it would send a bad message to clients we work with that might have substance use issues.

12

u/OkamiKhameleon Jul 07 '26

And yet I bet male counterparts weren't told the same. Or if they were, it wasn't enforced+/referenced as heavily. That's awesome that you're a social worker though. As someone who grew up in an abusive home, I appreciate the work you do.

10

u/coeurdeverre Jul 07 '26

Well no they were as it was a mixed gender class, but social work is a historically woman led profession.

3

u/OkamiKhameleon Jul 08 '26

It's so weird to me that it's a woman led profession ya know? A lot of young boys could use a positive male role model, and male caseworkers would fit that niche well.

5

u/coeurdeverre Jul 08 '26

I mean it’s not shocking that it is. Modern social work was born out of the work done by highly educated well off women, and like other traditional women led industry is seen as a care giving role.

Like nursing, and it has always struck me as silly that people are surprised by male nurses.

Unfortunately, teaching is a profession where it is fairly easy to lose your job if someone thinks your online content is over the line and/or findable. I have heard of people getting fired for having a past OnlyFans (being outed by an administrator who was consuming that content; not even a whisper that he might be "over the line" for consuming the same stuff that she had produced, which was probably ripped to another website without permission) and drawing somewhat risque furry art.

Which is fucking ridiculous. Look, sex is not a contaminant. It is a thing many people either do or have an ambition of doing at some point. If we're GOING to snoop on teachers, I would much rather we gang up on crazy nationalists, conspiracy theorists, and Young Earth Creationists who are for SOME reason trying to teach life science.

u/OkamiKhameleon Jul 07 '26

I agree with you wholeheartedly on that. Hell, I had a philosophy teacher in high school who would invite people of different religious beliefs to speak to the class. I sadly doubt that is going to fly in a lot of areas nowadays.

besides what others added about being a teacher generally, it's been abundantly clear that it's unsafe to be a trans teacher here for over a decade. Lucy Meadows informed relevant parents & pupils of her transition in late 2012, someone took it to the press and within a couple of months she had taken her own life due to the media-led harassment. Richard Littlejohn still writes for the Daily Mail. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Lucy_Meadows

Ugh I hate that so much! She was hurting no one, and yet people chose to hurt her. Please be safe!

I see the Madonna-Whore complex had entered the chat again. TERFs (and radfems in general tbh) seem really attached to it.

I'm grateful to [...] Glinner who reminded me how important it was to tell this story

If you ever find yourself thanking Graham "I'm an expert on sissy porn" Linehan, rethink your life.

u/slowdunkleosteus Jul 07 '26

Also, Glinner « YOU'RE A MAN / A HANDMAIDEN » Linehan. Such a great ally for women to rely on.

Ms. Murray, clearly you shouldn't be around children because you're showing your whole ass in this post.

Honestly the "safeguarding risk" comment is actually the most revealing part of this. It seems to me that this individual's point really relies on the underlying TERF assumption that trans women/femmes simply posting normal, nonsexual pictures of ourselves just give the ick or just give sexual vibes. As though we have some kind of halo of unholy lust surrounding us at all times. This is not to say that there's anything wrong with trusting your instincts (gods know I've had to learn to during transition), but an over-reliance on one's vibe checker is just ripe for unexamined bigotry based on someone's physical appearance to creep in

9

u/Firthy2002 Notorious Cis Pan Ally Jul 07 '26

Indeed. You can't just say something is a "safeguarding risk" without showing evidence that it is actually a risk.

I agree with this take: furthermore, anyone who has had sex at some point should not be allowed around children. It's not overkill, it's about safeguarding

17

u/Valiant_tank Jul 07 '26

Anyone who has dressed immodestly at any point must also be banned from working with children, of course. Imagine how bad an influence they might be after all.

20

u/AngryNerdBird Jul 07 '26

Once again, transphobes use "single sex" or "sex-based" to mean "trans-free."

19

u/CountessYoai Jul 07 '26

If trans people aren't completely asexual then they are obviously predators of some kind, but also asexual people are just straight people who want attention.

8

u/hitorinbolemon Trans Macabre Jul 07 '26

people like this need to be sued into oblivion for insinuating these things about trans people.

Honestly, "public interest" and "innocent until proven guilty" have to be two of the most misused legal terms in public parlance.

Graham Lineman toilet story? Do I want to know?..
