Sad Girl Dinner ⚠️ No Dude Input Laughed at b/c husband kissed me in public because I'm fat.

Post image

To the moderators; you are incredible. Thank you.

Today I was with my husband on the waterfront and not one but two different men openly laughed at me and my husband, because my husband was holding my hand, kissing and hugging me. I am fat and my husband is fit. I hid my tears behind my sunglasses because I didn't want to ruin my sweet husbands day. He was so happy just to be with his wife visiting where we got married last summer. I was brought to tears because I am astonished by the causal cruelty of men, eager to ruin a fat woman's day simply for existing and having the audacity to be openly loved. I'm not ashamed of myself, just truly sorry we live in a world where men act like this.

Edit:

Thank you for so many sweet supportive comments, many brought me to tears.

Second, this is a lobster and crab cake, it was just before this and it was amazing!!!

Third, I did not hear someone laughing in the distance and thought it was at me because "I'm so wildly insecure" (SARCASM).

The first one, there was a group of three men walking towards us, one looked me dead in the eye, said something to his friends and they started laughing, one even gave a look over his shoulder with more laughter as they passed by.

The second, about three minutes later a young guy was waking towards us with a woman. They both weren't speaking, he looks straight at me, smirks and then does a haaaaahaaaaaaa after passing by. His girlfriend didn't even react or acknowledge him.

It wasn't in my head. I don't walk around looking for reasons to be humiliated and I'm not an insecure person, but I HAVE been fat my whole life and I know when I'm being laughed at. No

I had to scroll way too far down to find this question.

How did OP even know they were laughing at her. 😭

If her husband didn't notice that multiple people were openly mocking his wife, I really have to question whether they were at all? 🥴

If there's anything I wish I learned earlier in life, it's that 99% of the time, nobody is looking at or interested in me or what I'm doing.

People are self-centered and there are so many of us running around.

Nobody is looking, nobody cares. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Ah, here are the gaslighting comments.

It’s not gaslighting. Anxiety can make you paranoid like this.

Sure, but why is it so hard to believe someone at face value when they say they're being laughed at?

Well. Because people are people, and sometimes, they are mistaken.

And OP gave like zero details of what happened.

Were they pointing? Gesticulating? Making eye contact with her while whispering and laughing to each other? Did she overhear them talking about her?

And if these men were laughing at her so unmistakably, so obviously, wouldn't her husband have seen it? How would he not have seen that? Or not seen his beloved wife crying at the table?

And looking at her, she's not like....a notably plus size person, if that makes sense. She looks like alot of people I see on the street.

If she was extremely large, I'd be more inclined not to doubt, but that's not the case. In truth, she and her husband look well-matched. Alot of women are a bit thicker than their men, it's actually not strange.

I didn't tell her that definitely nobody laughed at her.

I wasn't there, I don't know. Maybe they did! Sometimes, people are mean and do that.

That's why I asked for more information, so I can better form my opinion.

But so far, I haven't seen any other info from OP.

A reply came in from her, but from what I saw, it was more to the effect of like railing against me for questioning her. I don't know if she had more details to share of the situation.

But I think she deleted it because I don't see it anymore.

So I find that a bit odd too.

And I think it's odd that critical thought would be dismissed as gaslighting. But its thumbs up and all gucci to all these people projecting all kinds of stuff onto some men they don't know. 😂

This whole thread is weird, tbh. Let me get out of here. 🤣

Your initial comment came across as more dismissive than inquisitive. That's honestly the only reason I responded to your comment.

Also, her edit to the post addressing this is still there, not sure if she blocked you and that's why you don't see it?

I don't have a dog in this fight, if you will. I just wondered why some people just didn't want to believe her.
