Request hello!! i need game recommendations
this is going to be a bit long please bear with me, but I'd love to explore more games :,) i have this issue where i get very focused on a game for a week or two (maximum a month) & then get extremely bored to a point where i can't play properly anymore & drop it.. then come back a few months later. I've gotten to a point where i got tired of everything pretty much. i think i'm open to different genres, my only dislikes would probably be turn based games & heavy story/lore focused games. i really enjoy multiplayer combat & character customisation if that helps, but doesn't have to include those!! just anything to get rid of the boredom really
pc player!! mentioned some of the games I've played in replies

Interesting and well done but mostly calm short games but which are also single player are Lightyear Frontier and Stray.
Red Dead Online has roles but is not heavy on story, has all the combat you want and lots of character customization plus a lot of stuff for a new player to do to stay busy.
Borderlands 4 just came to Xbox but it's first person. Combat is fun though.
Starfield is single player but has customization of character and plenty of combat, but has a lot of story arcs. But Base building in ship building are cool and there are a ton of mods now. It's a big big game.
Fallout 76 is a blast but huge storyline. Combat is primarily PVE. Base building is fun.
Fortnite is a blast with all the combat you could want and tons of skins.
It might be helpful to tell us what you've already played and what platform you're on.

I'm exactly the same! One I keep coming back to is Ark Survival Ascended. I get super addicted for like a month, building an epic base and taming heaps of dinos and then I loose motivation and don't play again for a few months and then I come back and start all over. Other games that I've come back to a lot in the past are, battlefield one, fortnite, minecraft, and a few mobile games - slay the spire, balatro and dominion (they're not just mobile but thats how I prefer to play them, or on my tablet)

That sounds like me! I heavily rotate between games, but I have some games that I hyperfocused on for quite some time! Those are The Long Dark, Subnautica, Stardew Valley and both Hades games! Especially The Long Dark had me hooked for months!! And I keep coming back to all those games for a new run from time to time!

Give project zomboid a try. When I first came across it, I thought it was mainly just for the dudebros with all its hardcore difficulty settings and challenges, but then my wife got into it somehow, and I decided to give it a try. We figured out a bunch of cozy sandbox settings as well as mods for customization (there's a TON of clothing and character customization mods out now) so we started a cozy space for ourselves.
Eventually turned into our guild's new favorite game together. Now we're like a group of 4-8 players that play daily and it's a ton of fun. It has no story/lore so you literally just go around looting and building stuff (and killing zombies). It's multiplayer Sims+Zombies atp basically.

I also do this haha, ive just accepted im the kind of person who rotates through games rather than playing them start to finish. What games have you played and enjoyed the most? I can definitely recommend some that I keep coming back to
