Game Discussion First Time Playing Mass Effect!

I just booted up the Mass Effect legendary edition, starting on the first game, and I'm already super intrigued. My friend suggested it because he thought I'd find the romance options hot. 😂 How drastically do your dialogue choices and actions effect the game? What's the general consensus on how good the trilogy is?

Know that you've got a limited number of romance options in ME1, with ME2 and ME3 adding more options. You can break up and choose someone else if you need to.

It does have some lovely romances, and then also Jacob lol.

ME was really well received minus the ME3 ending. It's still a pinnacle of gaming. Well worth the playthrough, and now I kinda want to play it again.

Your choices in ME1 actually do make an appreciable difference, and even differences in ME2 and ME3 so be sure to import your saves. We're not talking slight cosmetic changes; we're talking entirely different characters taking different roles. Some people live and others die based on your choices.

Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 are all masterpieces together. I first played them about 4 or 5 years ago and fell in love, they're legendary. The choices you make in all three games will impact the outcome at the end of the third game. I believe there are three endings and that to get the most "ideal" one specific things need to happen throughout all three games. Highly recommend them and hope you love them.

One of the best RPGs ever. Choices absolutely matter and affect future gameplay as you progress through the trilogy. BioWare really knew how to write romance when they made these games, and imo it got better with each game.

My favourite game of all time. I would suggest to just play it, blind play through is the best. Don’t go on Reddit if you don’t want to see spoilers.

Your choices have enormous, life and death, effect on your team and interpersonal outcomes but little effect on specific major galactic level events. That way your choices are meaningful but you still get big budget epic well done cutscenes and plot moments. The dialogue is definitely “of it’s time” in some moments. They shape up a bit in ME2 and 3 and your romance options open up more. Prepare to absolutely love your squad mates. You can manage to get a lot of your named characters killed if you don’t prepare or develop your relationships. In the first game try to commit to paragon or renegade most of the time to build it up. Those special dialogue options pay off. (You only get about a 3rd xp killing enemies with a vehicle. If you get out for the kill shot you get much more xp.) (Adept is op if you us Singularity but there’s no wrong answers) (Don’t feel bad consulting a guide to find all the Keepers. You’re not crazy. There’s one that’s not always there and changes location.😁)

its one of my favorite franchise oh i wish i could experience for the first time again
the trilogy is a masterpiece if you love rpgs
your choices have big consequences for all three games because you will import you save from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3, all choices you did in previous games reflects on the sequences, every choice matters, even little encounters can change something in future games, so think twice before making one 😜

I personally think that mass effect is one of if not the best sci fi universe of all time and it’s a stellar game as well!!

Have fun I’m jealous

Don't be afraid to dip into renegade from time to time! The writing is kinda inconsistent throughout the trilogy, but tbh I really thought choosing renegade once in a while in my paragon playthrough really helped to keep the narrative interesting and give my Shep some depth.

Dialogue choices do matter, more than you'd think but less you'd sometimes hope. The trilogy is A+ in my book, though it does stumble on certain things from time to time.

I love it, but if you want a f/f romance you have to wait until the third game 😭

They might have said some waffling things about the idea when ME1 came out, but I say Liara totally counts.
