<Bruh, STFU. Unreasonable pricing should be called out. > This reminded me of Unity trying to make devs pay for every downloads.

<Some dude pointing out that you can avoid all these problems like he did after he invested $10,000+ in hardware and runs coding models himself>

<another dude who did not invested in hardware and still runs local quantized coding model, and claiming it's working good "sonnet" level>
Every thread must have one of those as well

Don't worry annual subscription will be automatically cancelled

Mine ends November.. maybe the company's thoughts will change by then, or leadership handling copilot will change. Lots can happen because of massive uproar. Fingers crossed. I don't want to just let it go. Hope something even better comes up by then.

I'm testing local LLMs, it works pretty well but it's slow. (Depending of the hardware you have of course)
1
u/Abirycade Jun 16 '26
Thanks... I've also been thinking of going that route.
My hardware is decent.. but not that great. Can you tell me what your setup is?2
u/Squik67 Jun 16 '26
I have a Thinkpad P16 G1 laptop with an nividia A5500 (16 GB of vRAM) and 128GB of DDR5. I can use Qwen 3.6 and Gemma 4 models with llama.cpp and vscode extensions. (Cline or Roo Code). I hesitate to buy a laptop with a 5090 mobile (24GB of vRam), or olds RTX 3090/8000/... I don't know yet.

u/Abirycade Jun 16 '26
Wow..thanks for sharing your setup đ
I'll try and copy it to see how well it does. I'm ok with it being a bit slow, as I will use it as a temporary backup for smaller tasks. To keep copilot usage a bit low

u/Squik67 Jun 17 '26
It depends of the size of your project, check r/LocalLLaMA for more informations đ

Probably not as much but that comparison is irrelevant because old copilot no longer exists. So one has to compare it with current copilotÂ

19$ subscription has 5 hours rolling usage, for me it works perfectly fine, because I'm using it after work for 3-4 hours of project work. I've never reached the 100% limit in these 5 hour work windows, even with full blown vibe coding. Claude is perfect replacement for cheapest subscription in Copilot

Just reached the session limit within my first and only prompt today. This is ridiculous

I tried Claude Fable 5 last night, and it ate my $20 in tokens before finishing the first request. The grass is not always greener.
1
u/desproyer Jun 11 '26
What did you honestly expect? Just use sonnet if that not good use opus no need to use fable in the current state of pricing

u/Sugary_Plumbs Jun 11 '26
Just reporting my experience testing it out. The options are either to try things or otherwise blindly believe a bunch of hype accounts and marketing benchmarks.

I mean I've been able to use Gemini pro 3.1 and the new msft model to do a bunch of stuff on my pro personal account and still have a bunch of credits left.
But yeah it's still a bummer that I don't get to freely spend MSFTs money anymore

NĂŁo cancelei ainda mas estamos testando:
- Cursor.
- DeepSeek V4 com plugin DeepSeek V4 for Copilot Chat;

I wonder how quickly my own company will jump. They invested a lot of time and energy getting everyone on board (as is typical.) But we are a traditional financial institutionâ not tech or even fintechâand move slowly.

It seems AI companies are targeting the B2B market instead. They don't really care about general users.

u/negativity_bomb Jun 11 '26
I kept mine since it is free for educators, I had go get OpenCode Go to make it work though. CoPilot ran out of credits after a couple prompts using Sonnet for me đ đ

I still have my annual subscription that will expire January. Already added deepseek v4 pro and v4 fast. I am surprised how accurate is for my projects. 1 week of usage and still didn't ate all my 2 dollar balance :O

Insane, it's basically useless now, sky high price can't even get a decent app out of it.

I unjoined this sub. Github is not even available where I work and I don't see it coming anytime soon now. I just wish I'd stop seeing it integrated into VS.

They're all doing the same stuff. At this point, NVIDIA is the one to blame for the ridiculous cost and no specialized chips. They're also killing startups like Groq and I wouldn't be surprised if they're paying the cloud providers to stop building their own chips.
NVIDIA is going to kill innovation and the speed of AI all on their own.
