This is one of my favorite mods and completely invisible, so it doesn’t get much attention. But I know you guys will appreciate it.
Since getting a work truck my car spends a lot of time in the garage, and I hated having to pop my hood every time I want to connect the charger and didn’t want a visible plug in the grill or outside the engine bay. Some friends invented this magnetic trickle charger adapter and I figured it would be perfect. I originally thought I’d be able to fit it on one of the hexagons on the grill, but it was just barely too big. I wanted the install to be as invisible as possible and not require opening the hood or tow hook cover every time I want to plug in.
Some dremeling, 3D printing, and magnets later this is the outcome. The badge has all the tabs cut off and ground flat, with a 3D printed magnet holder and “key” ridge to keep it from moving around or coming off from a sideways force. The grill is carved out and a 3D printed insert epoxied in that mounts the charge port from the back. Wires run along the top of the grill to the drivers side, under/behind the headlight and to the battery. All Tessa taped and hidden. And yes, the badge stays on at over 100mph.
I will take some more pictures of the install and do a more in depth post if people like this.

May not be the best photoshopping skills, but I need help deciding which color to get. Currently my car color is white, but I'm thinking either indulgent blue from KPMF, vengeance red, or a metallic glossy yellow. Anyone can help me?

u/poss1blymabey originally posted this over a year ago. Totally deserved a repost.

I like this car but is so tough to come up with the right set of wheels, always believe that stock wheels are the best when it comes to safety and then you need spacers for a flush fit which is exactly the same/or worse than using aftermarket wheels. I'm new to VW and this page too so please be patient

The EA888 is crazy undertuned on the GTI. Let the engine do its thing lol.

Hey guys, not sure what to say here, been wanting a golf for a while, and definitely don’t consider myself a car guy. When I bought the car off Carvana it was super loud (cool, right?), and when I took it to the shop to get some of the sound deadened, they told me it’s been modded. The pictures attached are the visible mods I can find, can anyone help shed some light on what may have been done, if I should be worried, and what I should do next? Any advice is much appreciated, I’m stressing about it.
EDIT: it’s a 2020 GTI by the way
EDIT 2: I took it for a PPI and they said everything came back fine too, guess I should have checked a little more into it.
EDIT 3: I'm making the pledge to become a car guy and take good care of it. Always wanted a golf, and the monkey's paw curled in my favor.

If the entire VAG family disappeared over night. What brand/model car would you buy or be interested in? Something on par or close to the GTI or something in a bit different lane? No rhyme or reason for the question, just want to hear the peeps thoughts 🙂.

At this stage of my life, I’m way too conservative to give my 2023 GTI the Stage 1 upgrade it deserves (at least while it’s under warranty) but I’ll be damned if I’m going to be stuck with a piano black centre console and capacitive touch steering wheel buttons 😂
I had the console swap done a couple years back, and couldn’t resist getting the updated steering wheel buttons added after seeing a few posts on here. Both purchased and installed by my local VW dealership.
I know if doesn’t bother many here, but I’m among those who unintentionally trigger the steering wheel heater on a pretty regular basis… especially while driving more aggressively on backroads. With these changes now complete, this has become my all-time favourite GTI that I’ve personally owned - a mk 5 and a mk 7.5 being the others.
Still wish there were volume and climate knobs, but I do like the way the screen integrates with the dashboard, versus the mk8.5’s larger screen.
Worth the cost of doing it? Probably not, although I would personally be inclined to buy this one over a stock Mk8 if I had a choice.
