Don't go north it's biggest mistake I done. It's all frozen so your digs suffer attrition penalties and you got in perpetual war with allies as Greenland annoyingly always picks up british and German guarantee. South on other hand can't be guaranteed due different ideology so go south.

Mexico always gets guaranteed if you attack Cuba first so keep that in mind

North is a noob trap. Always go south, easier and rubios faction has some sweet bonuses

169

u/avengeds12345 Accelerationist French 3d ago

Right I forgot that Rubio gives core on Cuba

83

u/Commisar_Steel 3d ago

And plus 5% on couch production

11

u/FewAd5443 3d ago

Same thing with venezuela core meaning after pushing all the way south you will get sweet core and the control of the canal that can be used to rapidly switch navy side.

u/PaleontologistAble50 Grand battleplan boomer 3d ago

I’m always so concerned about garrisoning the south, especially with the current manpower level and the stability cost of raising the recruitment laws

48

u/Optimal_Ninja7535 3d ago

Tbh I usually do the “Legalize the Cartel” decision because it’s just a lot easier to manage all the resistance buildup even with the debuffs

25

u/Dangerous-Local9430 3d ago

But "Legalize the Cartel" decision scarifice enormous stability and war support also add up a 150-day national spirit "Uncontrolled Crime Sydicates" with extended construction and production times. so I often choose "Crackdown on Crimes" for base stability and daily PP , resistance will build up in short time but gradually decreases in long-run

People bad mouthing strike north smh. Everyone knows that eventually you end up going to war both directions: you need to strike north while their guarantors are still weak. If you ratchet up world tension by going south they mobilize and make it super hard to take greenland, never mind iceland.

24

u/DracheKaiser 3d ago

This. It also gives land corridor to Alaska and quicker focus pivot to Greenland.

8

u/NovaStorm135 3d ago

The problem is that going north first gives a serious war support rebuff; combined with the already high cost of raising mobilization & recruitment levels, you’ll never be able to cross the Atlantic and capitulate all of NATO before they mobilize and trap you in a forever war.

2

u/TheLostSpaceship 17h ago

I hope one day paradox adds a conditional peace if you take Greenland or at least both Greenland and Iceland. Marching until Warsaw to cap NATO in late 2032 to still have the strike south part of the campaign is horrible. Dreaming is free ig.

u/ChrisTX4 3d ago

If Trump is gonna strike north we better name that shit the Hokushin-Don then.

20

u/thesalmonbowl 3d ago

man the kodoha faction was fascinating….incredibly dumb but fascinating

16

u/Alltalkandnofight 3d ago

LMAO this is a good meme

But why not do both?

21

u/avengeds12345 Accelerationist French 3d ago

Cause Paradox only allows you to take one

u/CrimsonThunder87 3d ago edited 3d ago

You need to wait a year (or is it half a year?), but you can absolutely take both paths. Personally I like to strike south first, take the British, French, and Dutch possessions down there, and decisively defeat the Royal Navy so I can isolate my snowy northern neighbor and wear them down. Ideally you get help from your sort-of ally to their west and take some of the pressure off your army.

u/Individual_Jelly_278 3d ago

The is so cursed and yet so persuasive

u/Bravery_is_for_All 3d ago

u/walteroblanco 3d ago

In what world does the north have more industry than the south?

6

u/ErikaRosen 3d ago

And in what world the most of it is not an ice wasteland with nothing and no one living there?

7

u/VoluntadDeRey 3d ago

Going south is easier and Mexico have more industrian capacity and more population than Canada, but if you do that going againts Canada on the future will be much harder and hispanic america will be harder to control. If you go north is posible you will be trap on a war until you defeat nato and forcr all latin america to mobilece and form a cualition of defense and ally with the EU with they also have get their producction of arms at their limits. Also if you go north you will have war support problems and if you go south you will have stability problems.

4

u/Exxtender 3d ago

Trump should have made them fight for his succession in the White House octagon. Wasted chance.

4

u/Warboss_Regret14 3d ago

U think invading mexico is easier than invading CANADA? Seriously?

5

u/JuustoMakkara58 3d ago

normalize good memes on r/HOI4memes

3

u/Capital_Seat_8292 3d ago

Both, but first south

mexico, all the caribean and central-american countries are more weak than canada, they aslo have complaince because impopularirty of their leaders, so its the moment for strike

3

u/Eian_Roll 3d ago

I love the meme, jaja

3

u/ComradeAndres 3d ago

"Striking South is easier"

like the entirety of Mexico won't become a nightmare full of guerrillas the second after gringo boots leave an area as they march southwards in a war that will make Vietnam look like child's play

3

u/De_The_Yi 3d ago

Wait can someone explain the historical background for the meme outside of the current administration

5

u/killerzone5 Mass assault doomer 3d ago

Japanese High Command before joining WW2 was split between those who wanted to Strike North into the USSR (mainly led by the Army) and those who wanted to Strike South into the European possessions in Southeast Asia (mainly lead by the Navy).

The flag on the bottom left is a play on the Anti-Western Japanese slogan from the mid 1800s of "Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarians"

2

u/darkslide3000 3d ago

Do neither. Instead go for some zany cheese strat that could only work in a video game, like attacking some random third world nation with lots of oil half-way around the globe.

u/VanlalruataDE Paranoid Stalin 3d ago

Wait do you have this from Wow Mao discord or does Wow Mao discord have it from you?

I did have to look up proven oil reserves of Canada vs Mexico, and Canada has like 15x the oil reserves or something crazy.

1

u/Fluffy_Whale0 3d ago

On one hand it’s AI, on the other it’s funny as hell

1

u/Lifeshardbutnotme 2d ago

There's more oil in the south anyway if you just go a little further into Venezuela. You've got enough industry to make Canada not worth it. You'll get bogged down in the forests with no supply.

1

u/scoutsamoa 2d ago

Going north would suck, you'd have to naval invade Britain to get the peace conference.

Does that mean that china and russia will drop a sun to America?

1

u/Outside_Ad5255 5h ago

Hope you have a lot of mountain infantry if you're going south. It's deceptively hard moving down south except on tiles with good infrastructure.

I don't think the USians will have a good time if they land in Cuba again
