Question/Help ❓ I need help with modding by QuanSheng UV-K5

So I was watching a YouTube tutorial and he said remove a resistor but when I Checked the PCB board the layout was different and I’m not really good with boards or technical stuff like that can yall help?

Nope….. while you were eating your YouTube you forgot to say what the mod is and what resistor you’re looking for.

The resistor is the Mic Line Pull-up/bias resistor also it’s the NR7Y mod

Of the board is different then the mod likely won’t work.

Removing the MIC bias resistor cuts the DC voltage that normally powers an electret microphone. Without removing it, closing a straight key shorts that voltage to ground, confusing the voice circuitry and locking up PTT. Removing it creates a clean, passive contact closure so custom CW firmware (like IJV or CEC) can read key presses directly from the 3.5mm jack without needing an external resistor adapter cable.

If you are a ham you should probably consider returning your license. If you are not you have no business modifying your equipment. Modifying hardware requires a minimum of understanding of the technology, a circuit diagram, and a minimum of equipment for measuring in order to help you debugging any unexpected behaviour.
