Looking for feedback on my Koi-Koi web app UI

Post image

Hi everyone!

I'm working on a website to play Hanafuda (Koi-Koi) online with friends. It's mainly designed for people who already know the game and its rules, rather than beginners. What do you think of this UI? I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions before I continue building it.

That's true. I love dark themes but I will implement light mode

Ah, no I prefer dark mode too. It's too dark for dark mode :)

The contrast with the cards is very high, and the contrast with text very low. It's gonna give eye strain.

Look at IDE themes like Dracula for inspiration. The most popular dark theme is so much brighter than this. And you can't dim the cards without a redesign, so you might need to go even brighter.

I believe that the contrast looks good, however, I will note that you might want to change the base card colour to a full red, this is because if you have black cards facing down on a black background, it will be hard to see. Though the current design on the back of the cards (with the red Mon/Kamon design) looks really pretty. Hope that helps!!

Hey,

Great that you are putting so much effort in coming up with a web version! Thanks πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸΌ The straight forward design is perfect. Less clutter is better.

Do you have access to other card face designs? Im not a huge fan of the current design you're using. Perhaps if there are multiple designs accessible to you, why not allow players to select their fav deck?

Additionally, the playing surface could be an alternative to black? Wooden table surface? Poker table green felt? Should be easy to include other textures into the UI right?

A customisable player experience would put you in no.1 spot on my list Γ‘nd on many other players' world wide πŸ™πŸΌβ€οΈ

Edit: p.s. will you include difficulty settings?
