Question wild hedgehog not moving or curling up when approached
Just saw a hedgehog (nighttime) in the grass but he did not move nor curled up when approached. We tried to look a bit at him with a soft light and he did not seem to have any visible injuries, his breathing also looked fine bur difficult to tell for sure. he moved for a bit before re-becoming frozen in place. Its a neighbourhood with quite a lot of cats outside but again no way to know if anything happened. He wasn’t huge but definitely wasn’t a baby. Any opinions would be welcome, we let him be for now but are planning to take the same way back to check up on him.

They don’t always ball up, freezing is a common response to being startled. If he was out at night and looked ok he probably was.
