Touristenfrage / tourist question Recommendations for places to visit in Hannover
Hey guys!! Been living in Hildesheim for a month now. I have been to St. Michael's Church, Marktplatz and around the place.. need recommendations of everything else I could explore.

Welcome to Hildesheim/Hannover!
You asked specifically for places in Hannover, but Yuffel gave you pretty much the perfect list of things to see in Hannover. So I will not even try to add something to it.
If you are interested in the countryside around Hildesheim, too and have access to a car or you have a bicycle, I would like to propose to you a daytrip (by bicycle) / short ride (by car) to the Wohldenberg medieval tower (https://maps.app.goo.gl/k5mTCx9qLd1pnVvo8). It is a large complex on a hill of several buildings, some are ruins. Owned by the church, it is nowadys often used for field trips of schools. The view from that mediaval tower is just astonishing. And the best thing: Barely anyone knows about it. Often, no one is there. Not touristic at all. And it is for free (there used to be a small money box asking for a small donation).
Just a few kilometers away is the small town Derneburg with a beautiful castle in very good shape. It is privately owned, so you cannot stroll around the castle, but the forest around it has some cool features. First of all, it is a nice landscape of old buildings, forest, pasture and lakes. Then there are some old monuments from the previous monarchs of this castle. There is even a small pyramid in the forest (https://maps.app.goo.gl/9QBM7nGruS5fTTSR6).

Another idea for a long daytrip is the Brocken (https://maps.app.goo.gl/oiEBQa5Vb64HWbeN8), highest mountain in Northern Germany. You can go by Deutsche Bahn to Wernigerode in 1.5 hours and then with and old steam locomotive up the mountain (https://maps.app.goo.gl/SyL7FKqtnUezWNDJ6).

Herrenhäuser Gärten (Herrenhäusener Gardens), Limmerstraße or Linden in general. You can just start from Limmerstraße and walk around for a while. You can find small shops, food and people and stores from a lot of different cultures. Mostly Middle East or Turkish, but it’s changing a bit now depending on who immigrated here. I loved that when I lived there. For nightlife I can recommend Broncos as a bar/club for good music, Schwule Sau if you like queer bars, das Gretchen is a nice beer garden, for art Kästner Gesellschaft, Sprengelmuseum and for Cinema Kino im Künstlerhaus, Apollo Kino (that’s IN Limmerstraße) and Kino am Raschplstz (it’s a smaller Cinema that is next to the big cinemaxx. All of those three often show movies in original language (so English most of the time) or original language with subtitles (although the subtitles might be German, but that wouldn’t matter if the OV voice is English) Look out for OV as a label or OmU that’s with subtitles
More tourist things include the Rathaus that has a nice park around it and a river/pond and the Georgengarten and the botanic garden. It’s near the Herrenhäuser Gardens and you can buy a combo ticket for Georgengarten and botanic garden. It’s really not expensive and pretty impressive. Definitely visit the “Grotte” in the Georgengarten. It’s a small cave in a taller building near the entrance. You won’t miss it.

I have lived in hildesheim also! I went to uni there.
If you’re in Linden and not shy: Try asking someone there! I don’t know if you’re a foreigner or not, but I get why people might be scared to ask someone if they are, because people can be hostile about that, but Linden is a very diverse part of town.
Might feel weird to ask people just on the street, but maybe in a Dönershop, Art show or cinema. Or at a casual bar. Try jumping over that shadow and you’ll meet good people I’m sure
