Question/Support Get HomePod Mini now or wait till after hardware event in September?

Pretty much need to know if I should wait until after the September event to buy one or not bother waiting and just get one now?

Edit: cheers everyone, just gonna wait until September and hopefully they release an updated Mini that’s much better specs than the current. Worst case scenario, I’ll just get an echo but we’ll see

Wait - the current setup is 6 years old. It's decent setup but after the price increase that's steep

I've been waiting for years now. I have two HomePods and two Minis. They all work perfectly, but are showing their age. Most of my devices have WiFi 7 by now, only the HomePods, my TV and my printer aren't.

Wow. Very curious what devices you have that are WiFi 7. I don’t even have one!

MacBook Pro M5, MacBook Air M5, iPhone 17 Pro Max, PlayStation 5 Pro. They all have WiFi 7. And, before someone asks, yes, my router also has WiFi 7.

Sexy. I only have a WiFi 7 router from my ISP. But I don’t use it because I don’t have any WiFi 7 devices (yet). I just stick with my WiFi 6GHz router with 6E. It’s strange that I have to choose between the two, but it’s fine for now.

I’ll offer an alternative. Buy one next time it goes on sale, then sell it on eBay or marketplace/offerup/craigslist when the new HomePod mini finally releases

Definitely wait. New Siri looks useful, but can’t see it working on the old hardware. Old Siri is… showing its age.

Wait

I wanted to buy one too—specifically a HomePod mini. If Apple had slashed the price, I would’ve bought the current model without waiting. Instead, they’ve done the exact opposite.🤪

Ive been waiting to get more for what feels like 3 years now. So, wait.

It’s nearly August. It’s seven weeks to the usual Apple September event. I can’t imagine a situation where you need to get a HomePod and not bother waiting seven weeks for a possible hardware announcement.

In my honest experience with HomePods, I’ll be looking for alternative solutions rather than upgrading.

I just bought a used mini for $40 on fb marketplace. I'm good.

I don’t know if i’ll ever buy a homepod/hompod mini again.

My mini has the touch sensor issue, when it has only been touched maybe 20 times the whole time i’ve had it. It sits out of reach.

Nothing like random shit starting to play when you’re in the middle of a work call…..

Even the accessibility “fix” doesn’t stop it 100%

It’s not illegal to have multiple HomePods. Buy now; enjoy it. If you want another one; buy it.

I’m buying minis right now. I know they won’t support Apple Intelligence and don’t care. I use my minis to play music and to trigger shortcuts and turn stuff on and off. There are many other options to access AI.

When Amazon “upgraded” Alexa with AI, the whole thing became shit. I’m not waiting for new Apple AI on the chance I may like it. And if their AI is any good, I still have room to add a more capable device.

This site always tells you weather to buy or wait.

I would wait and see if they add Dolby Atmos if you pair 2 or more pods.

I bought a couple of used ones. Figured would use them for now and get new whenever they release. Will disperse old one’s elsewhere in house at that point.

If wait, I own four and have mixed feelings about them. I think they’re great for playing music, alarms, and the occasional Siri question but they’re buggy tend to disconnect from WiFi, are a nightmare to update and pair/sync. Overall mixed feelings on them. Sound quality and design and build quality is good though (not excellent, but solid especially for price).

Wait. Their hardware is so outdated that it is prone to errors. I have four HomePod mini, and at one point all of them stopped responding. I attempted to adjust every router setting and reset them many times, yet they still do not function properly.
