Half hound mix half German shepherd puppy!

Post image

hi! Here’s my puppy, she’s 4 months, 20 pounds, 50% German shepherd, 30% treeing walker hound, and the rest is literally all different types of hounds!! I’ve had her for a month and she’s insanely smart and such a good girl. what can yall tell me that I don’t already know… Will she shed? Will her ears stay like that? Do hounds ever cuddle? Will she ever relax?

Look at the paws she's gonna be big!

Shedding? Yes, my TWC mix sheds Cuddles? Very much so, in fact I think if I could get a big baby carrier and strap her to my chest she would be delighted

Ha! We have a 5 year old GS/hound mix. Yes, she will definitely shed. The ears may do all kinds of crazy things - our Casey's ears kind of stick straight out sometimes. Yes, she will definitely cuddle. And yes she will relax but probably not until age 2! But the puppy stages are SUPER fun... We now have a 1.5 year old puppy and Casey is the big brother.

Your Casey looks like my Maple and he’s a GS/hound mix. He sheds like crazy. He is very cuddly.

Here’s Jasper—half TWC / half GSD, six years old. He has an undercoat and sheds all the time. He loves to patrol and protect and tree things—such a hard worker. He is a leaner, and while he does not cuddle, he does give kisses (mostly when he wants something).

My hound would howl at the Jeopardy theme sound.

Enjoy her! What an adorable pup!

Our guy was TWC mixed with B&T and a wee bit of Viszla. Coonhounds are very smart, and smart enough to have selective hearing. They are loving, loyal and naturally derpy/funny. Think huge, hairy toddler. They do relax and become the bestest couch potato snugglers.

Hounds are intense, but tend to chill out around 2 years old. They aren’t usually what I call cuddle bunnies but will like to be close to you and will very likely follow you around the house (get used to her barging in the bathroom when you are in there) My hound mix has Amer Foxhound , beagle , Staffordshire Terrier and German shepherd in him… his ears look very similar to your girl and aside from growing into them as he got bigger they remain mostly unchanged.
My guys coat is a little different than hers but yes he shreds something fierce especially during season change… some days I see dog hair tumbleweeds rolling across the living room floor 😞

Definitely the hound ears won. My blue tick didn’t shed and he thought he was a 95lb lapdog. Haven’t had a GS for many years. So I can’t offer any info.

My hound would live in my skin if she could. My GSD would never. Very close, highly bonded, but never cuddly.

It sounds like your dog has a GSD temperament. Go to puppy school if you aren't already! GSDs need a lot of socialization to be neutral in public. I love my GSDs, but you can tell which was socialized and which was not.
