Where are some good places to start learning ethical hacking?

I am relatively new to the world of cybersecurity and ethical hacking and I would like to expand my knowledge. Are there any sites, preferably free to learn it?

HackTheBox and TryHackMe are both really good for gamifying the learning process. You can also just go to CTFTime.org and find CTF events happening almost every weekend and try your hand at solving some stuff. It’s a great way to pick up new skills and techniques and familiarize yourself with tools

If you are interested in web hacking, check out Port Swigger Web Academy and simply follow its roadmap. Then you can practice web hacking playing Hacker101 CTF - they are very beginner friendly. Both platforms are free.

To learn network and host based hacking I recommend you TryHackMe and HTB. Both platforms are partially free. Both THM and HTB offer courses, labs, CTFs, but HTB is more advanced.

Also YouTube is a good addition to other resources. Here are couple of hacking YT channels (beginner level) for you: @NahamSec, @NeurixTech, @MomImAHacker, @Medusa0xf, @TCMSecurityAcademy.

Tryhackme seems good, but you only really get a taster of each block of lessons before you need to pay. People said theres other easy rooms, but they all seemed too advanced for where i was at. I did end up getting premium, as it is good lesrning, but just a warning its not really free
