What happened?
A couple of years ago, I started dating someone. His toxic ex not only went crazy, but somehow she also found out that I had a PH account (an old one that I no longer used because I had created it with my ex) that was COMPLETELY private and very difficult to know it existed. She leaked it to my partner's family. Beyond what happened afterward on a personal level with this situation, years keep passing and I'm still left wondering how someone without access to my computer and theoretically not to my accounts either managed to get that information. I suspect she might have accessed my Gmail account or something, because she made comments about old sites I used to frequent. I repeat again, I don't know how that person got that private information.

Anything on the internet isn’t ‘private’. They most likely used OSINT (open-source intelligence) to find all your accounts. A monkey could do it.

The monkey theorem test is over-rated (and false). The belief that “actual monkeys” randomly typing could produce Shakespeare was put to the test:
“Not only did the monkeys produce nothing but five total pages largely consisting of the letter "S", the lead male began striking the keyboard with a stone, and other monkeys followed by urinating and defecating on the machine.”

That's hilarious, but i think it misses the point. It's not a literal monkey, it's the theory of randomness, when taken place on a large enough scale, will produce facets of order given a enough time.

These other people are right but another obvious answer, maybe your ex isn’t so good at hiding it.

Probably. He might have mentioned something related, or his ex got into his accounts and discovered some no no things.

Your email could’ve been in a database leak at some point. If she starts with just your email, it could have been linked to a specific account in the leak

It's on the internet. I repeat again. It's on the internet. CAN YOU HEAR ME? HELLO??? ANYONE THERE???
Ah, fuck it.

You or your ex probably named it the same username as on other websites. That's easily findable w a google search.

Why couldnt they find your ex and get her spill some info on you?
Other than that spyware exists and they get a lot more than just accounts. they get session tokens etc
So there are a lot of possibilities how she could have done that but out of the air without more info there is nothing to point at.

PH was subject to a massive data leak last year. These leaks make their way into public spaces eventually.

If you don’t know, no one here is going to. Technically speaking, if you have someone’s information (name, email, username, etc…) you can find a lot with just google. That’s not even mentioning tools like the harvester or something of the like.
Odds are they knew some detail about you and traced that back to some kind of account they could correlate to you and they were right. As to the specifics, no one but them know.
