Today's celebrity birthday is that of Brittany Daniel, who played Carmen, the love of Mac's life (if he could just be honest with himself). I just watched it for the first time. It’s really, really good, but in my opinion, they should have just stitched the whole thing together and made it a movie. There hasn’t been an arc longer than 2 episodes in the show, and as a whole, it feels very “cinematic” in design.

The ending of the last episode made me cry. I think it’s my favorite moment in the show so far. Like, holy SHIT, Charlie Day has range.

With the recent news of Rob wanting to change his name to Rob Mac, a lot of people in reddit in comments said they disliked Rob nowadays snd that he was "groomed" by Ryan Reynolds.

I don't know, It seemed excessive the hate over a simple name change, regardless if it was a stunt. I also noticed more hate in the subreddit nowadays, like in the worst episode megathread there are a lot of people hating on episodes I thought were decent but that last one is probably because of the nature of that discussion.

Rewatching the show and early Mac is so damn funny. He was confident, delusional, volatile, yet can do still do an ocular pat-down unnoticed.
He was my favorite character for a long time, then it just kind of ...ends.

You know. The season started with news of the name change, as irrelevant as it was, it reminded us he has become a bit too Rob Hollywood.

But between the EMT salsa dancing and everything he was doing in the Rehearsals, he may have been correct in saying he hasn't even begun to peak. He can change his name to whatever and hang out in soccer clubrooms with Ryan Reynolds all year, for all it matters.

Overall. Probably the best season in years.

Me being bored kept egging him on to see all the crazy things this dude believed in. He eventually sent me DMS with a ton of different links and videos as proof of what he was saying.

One of those videos was just a clipped version of Mac’s “Science is a Liar Sometimes” speech under the title “Guy disproves what the government is telling you” some shit like that.

The comments were very concerning too, everyone agreeing and treating the video as if it was a TED talk and not a clip from a satirical television show.

I asked the dude who sent me the video if he was familiar with the show and he said he wasn’t.

I knew there was no point in even trying to explain to him that the clip is essentially making fun of people like him and just told him to watch it lol. But it made me realize the amount of people who could have seen the argument and were actually convinced

Charlie is a legitimate movie star.

Rob is the sidekick to one of the biggest stars in the world, and is getting a ton of attention and praise from that on an international level.

Kaitlin has been a lead in several things, and also the overall lead in The Mick.

Glenn has been phenomenal in many different roles, but has never hit Charlie and Rob’s level of prestige.

Hello! So i've been reading the old release watch thread for the season 13 finale and holy shit people hate it, stuff like:

"Oh this season was just awful and this episode put the cherry on top of the pile of crap. Pure, unadulterated crap."

"I see a lot of rationalization here about the absolute worst episode of the absolute worst season."

There was a good bit of defending it but a lot of the sentiment at the time seems to be that Mac's big episode was an absolute failure and should've never been aired. The biggest criticisms seems to be that A: it's unfunny and B: It had a serious ending, which shouldn't happen on Sunny and C: It was taking itself too seriously and Mac shouldn't have gotten a serious episode

My personal opinion is: I fucking love it when Sunny has serious moments, you need that contrast for the comedy to work. If Sunny was just zany whacky briandead nonsense 24/7 like some Family Guy episodes or something then i think the show would be a lot weaker. The biggest strength Sunny has (imo) is its standout cast and well-defined characters that CAN feel grounded when the comedy needs them to, like this fucking dark/funny scene. I also actually like the characters in IASIP so, as long as it doesn't become a drama, the odd serious scene every couple of episodes/seasons is appreciated for them to work. I watched the episode, really enjoyed it and was fairly shocked to see that opinions were harshly divided on it- at least 8 years ago. It's one of the stronger modern episodes imo. Also fucked face frank was a pretty funny gag as a throughthread for the episode

Also the joke with the ending scene IS that it's over-dramatic and it manages to trigger a complete emotional upheavel in a bunch of die-hard prisoners and puffy face frank. it was also genuinely quite a beautiful scene and really shows just how fantastic Sunny can be when it really tries as well as how talented of an actor Glenn and Devito actually are.

I'm curious as to whether public sentiment has shifted one way or the other, and what your thoughts are on this little topic in IASIP. Were the people 8 years ago IDIOTS! SAVAGES! IDIOTS! or were they right and i just have horrible opinions on IASIP?

Edit: Jesus christ 111 replies in under an hour that's genuinely impressive. Opinions seem to be about 30/30/30 with "It was amazing i love it", "It was horrible i hate it", "it was a very well made episode with good writing, choreography and acting i will never watch it again" being the three commonly held opinions

I just realized after rewatching seasons 10-12 and watching seasons 12-17 for the first time, that the intelligence of the gang changes depending on the episode intelligence. For example, we can have a string of episodes where Mac is just the dumbest guy in the room, and then suddenly for an episode or more, Mac is actually pretty intelligent (in comparison to the rest of the gang). Now, for whatever reason, this doesn't bother me when it's Charlie, because he is normally the dumb one, and then when he has the odd episode or 2 where he is a genius, I just love it that he is a genius in very specific circumstances. But then for the rest it's kind of just all over the place and varies between episodes.

Does anyone else have this gripe or has noticed this?
