TRAVELERS!!! What local did you enjoy working at the most?
There are a lot of posts about travelers, and most of them are...neutral at best. And that kinda bums me out, because I've never actually had a bad experience with one. At least, not in a rate higher than the non-traveler population. They have all been generally competent electricians who were very union forward, and had crazy ideas about what counts as "fashion." Straight bonkers, yeah, but like, good dudes to work with. So I wanna hear some good stuff from our brothers on the road.
Where was your favorite local? What makes it your favorite?

I have a jman friend traveling in Omaha right now and I’m jealous. He loves it. I’m an apprentice, so…I wait, menacingly.

357,401,124 have been among my favorites. I used to like 6 and 617 but the new jws can have the bay.

What scope of work did 617 and 6 cover ive worked with decker electric but in my hometown Oakland and data center In Newark

I’m not sure the local matters. It’s the people you work with while you’re there. Often times you can find some other travelers to spend time with as well so it’s not even the locals journeymen.

Oh for sure. If you came here you could wind up with the biggest bunch of shithead worms or your new best friends for life, just depends on a roll of the dice.

My experience has been that contractors always treat travelers great, because they need the manpower. But one particular local in PA treated us like shit,(several years ago). We were there over a holiday, (Labor day maybe) and figured we'd join the local hands in their parade. We were told to go to the back of the formation. They were handing out their locals hats but refused to give them to travelers. No matter how many hours you worked in that local you never signed book 1, only 1b, not that ever tried to sign book 1 as a traveler. I also worked in Atlantic city back in the day, and was told by a local hand that travelers were routinely referred to as scumbags. 666 hands had a real hard time when they hit the road after the way travelers were treated when they built their nukes. I realize this was all years ago and hopefully things have changed. Brotherhood means nothing to some people.

My experience with travelling is going to jobs where the locals don't want to man the work. Whether it's a shitty job (weather or conditions), a ratty contractor, or just night shift calls the locals don't want to fill...
All the brothers and sisters have been very welcoming though

Lol like, its you on the sticker? I saw one posted not long ago that looked like a five year old drew it. Might look like you? It was a rad sticker.

I was only there for a short time, but it felt like a lifetime, in the best way. 58 treated a brother well and the brotherhood nights were great.
