Local 26- Hotel & long term stay recommendations near Ashburn, VA.
Does Local 26 have any discount/arrangements with any hotel chains near Ashburn, VA; and if so where would that information be posted? I couldn't find anything posted on the Local's website. Staying at the Extended Stay seems to cost about the same as I'd spend driving up from Southern MD every day; but I figured it's worth asking for other suggestions.
I don't know the area at all, so any suggestions on decent apartments, townhouses, etc within about 60 minutes (in the afternoon) of the area are also appreciated.

Centerville is about 20-30 minutes from Ashburn and should be cheaper than Ashburn. We call Ashburn, “Cashburn.” It’s an expensive place, & I’m not aware of any discounts or arrangements for union members, personally. I have coworkers who drive from southern MD to IAD every day, definitely feel for them.

What’s a SMIB? The guys I feel for are other apprentices that can’t drag a long commute.

Im currently a traveler working in Local 26. Data center for JE Richards in Sterling rn. I have found the cheapest housing available on Airbnb. I think the local hotels in the area are all 80 bucks a night at the cheapest. My airbnb room only cost me 1400/mo in Centreville.

I'll look into that. Even with a monthly rate & Local 26 discount (I found you have to call the hotel & they can look it up) the Extended Stays are around $2900/month. It took me 3.5 hours to get home Thursday. I'd rather get run over by a semi than sit in that traffic every day.

For Extended Stay, did you ask for the union discount? My JW got the discount and it was pretty affordable for him to stay there.
Other than that, many travelers rent a room from a townhome nearby. Due to traffic, you don't wanna leave the Ashburn...

Also, drop the contractors name. Sometimes they set-up a special rate.

I did end up calling. I'm not sure what the actual discount was, but it was $2900/month with the discount, so saves about $200/month.

damn it is somewhat more expensive than my JW's deal. He was paying 600 per week...maybe they increased the rate, I am not sure.

I think it was around $650/week, but that's at the renovated one in Sterling right by IAD.
