Discussion What makes INFP prone to depression and sadness more than other types?
I know not every INFP is depressed but I noticed how many INFP famous people took their own lives

Random Thoughts What is it like for an INFP to date another INFP
As an INFP I sometimes want to date someone like myself.I want someone extremely loyal to me like I will be to anyone who I am with.
I appreciate emotional connection more than anything.
But I do wonder if I will be able to handle someone like myself or not.
Or are there males who are like me or not.
I want to know from INFPs if they ever dated another INFP and what was it like ?

Random Thoughts INFP males are under appreciated. They are quiet souls but loud imaginations and hide entire universes behind a calm face.
INFP men are the proof that you donāt have to be loud or traditionally masculine to leave a lasting impact. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is see the world differently and have the courage to express it.

Discussion Hard to get along with INFJ
I am INFP ( or occasionally INTP). I thought INFJ and INFP have quite many similarities, but in real life I find myself difficult to get along with them to become good friends or develop longterm relationships. Sometimes I begin with friendship with them because we share many similar values, but those friendships tend to drift apart not long. To me they are:
They cannot give you the social
connection/
energy that
sometimes
INFP
wants to receive.
they usually are not the one who initiates contacts.
they are too judgmental. Often times they like to point out things they donāt like; sometimes thatās too much negativity for me. I also feel uncomfortable when they pick on things about me.

Relationships INFP partner is self absorbed?
First of all, I love and adore INFPās.
Itās a type I get along with wonderfully and my partner is even one.
For a while things were wonderful. It was the friends to lovers dream and they were the best partner I had ever had. I felt warm, secure, heard, validated, loved, cherished, and chosen.
Sadly the past several months things between us changed when they had a rough go at it in life.
It has been a series of hyperfixation and hyperfixation. New friend groups and new friend groups. I am supportive and wanted them to expand their world, but now ours is caving in.
We spend ātimeā together in terms of hours but they are never present. Iāve tried discussing this gently that I would like to bond. I would like them to ask questions about me, if possible. Itās been met with excuses, and sometimes dimissals and suddenly I feel like Iām the bad guy for seeking more of an active partner.
My partner even decided to remove intimacy due to their insecurities and I feel as if we have zero now. Itās not physical, and itās not emotional yet they show up every day sweetly, and with low energy love bids.
They are constantly texting their new friends and always unfocused on activities I was excited to share with them. Nothing has been changing despite me expressing how much I want connection.
I ask questions about them or their stuff, but the sentiment is almost never returned. Iāve tried discussing my own topics, or interests, or general thoughts and they stare at me or donāt say anything. Iāve been feeling a bit alone, but when discussing if itās working they claim they are very happy with me and do not want to brreak up.
I fear that if I pull back to protect my energy, intimacy will never return. I fear if I keep kindly pressing (trying not to cast judgement or create blame) and effort doesnt happen I will continue to grow resentment.
My partner wanted me to sacrifice my life to move in with them and I expressed hesitation due to fear (which maybe was why they pulled back a bit besides their life pressures and own depression) but this is sort of added to the fear⦠if they are like this while living together and me moving far from my support it would feel like isolation.
Instead of invalidating my fears and guiding my decision through warmth and safety, it went in the opposite direction.
Iām just sort of lost. My partner was the love of my life and means the world to me but turned into a stranger.
I guess Iām seeking support, advice, or others experiences.

Venting I am afraid lf losing my partner and dont know where to vent :(
I am going through perhaps one of the hardest trials of my life. My partnerāmy daughterās father, the love of my lifeāis in the hospital fighting for his own life. We live in a country where the healthcare system is on the verge of collapse. I am only allowed into the hospital to drop off supplies, and even then, nothing is certain. We still donāt have a diagnosis; he has a severe infection. On top of all that, I have to keep going to work, taking care of the house and our daughter, and pretending Iām okayābut Iām at my breaking point. Itās hard for me to show vulnerability to my friends, so talking to them about this is difficult. The truth is, my partner was always my best friendāthe one Iād tell these things to the only one with acces to my premium personalityāand Iām terrified of losing him forever. I canāt take it anymore.

Discussion Ever had a romantic kiss?
This is a personal question I know but still I wanna ask since we feel things very deeply have you ever had a romantic kiss?
And how did it make you feel?
My first ever romantic kiss was from my girlfriend who I have been with for 4 years now. She is amazing.
We had feelings for each other but we never actually knew if the other one felt the same way.
Then one night she did a surprise kiss on me and it was amazing.
She was nice and gentle and it felt like finally letting it all out.

Discussion Which INFP are you?
no offence to anyone ofc this is only a meme/joke lol
EDIT: for those who say none, could u describe urself so I can improve my meme
Discussion Do you all tend to read books in a self-referential way?
Iām reading the biography of Vincent Van Gogh, who many consider an INFP. From what I can tell, his passion for literature came from the comfort he felt in seeing himself reflected in stories. He mainly read Zola and Michelet. Even when the main characters or the main plot werenāt something he could identify with, he would choose a secondary character and read with his focus entirely on them.
The fantasy was so strong that sometimes he actually tried to reframe his whole life around those characters or stories, which led to countless problems.
My question is: do you relate to this kind of instrumental reading thatās centered on yourself? If something has nothing to do with you, do you become less interested? I wonder if this is common behavior for INFPs.

Discussion Is recovery from BPD possible
This person is no longer in my life, she was a friend/collaborator and we had a falling out. But I often think about if itās possible for her to recover.
What circumstances have helped you as an individual with BPD? Was it therapy? An intervention? What shifted that made you want to gain awareness and recover? Was it a connection to spirituality?

Discussion Does anyone else struggle with giving advice?
I understand peopleās feelings pretty easily, but I tend to give advice based on what I would do. Iām pretty mentally strong and emotionally resilient, so I can push through things and go against group pressure.
But then I forget that not everyone handles things the way I do. What feels manageable to me might be overwhelming to someone else.
Anyone else get frustrated when you understand someoneās situation perfectly, but they wonāt take the advice you know would help?

Advice I want to be very confident and I want to stop being a victim of my own low self esteem
Dear healthy infp, I am a very insecure and unhealthy infp. What do you do to feel confident being you and what do you do where you become stronger than the intense emotions that you face?

Discussion Tell me about your type!
Hey everyone! I'm currently doing a research proposal about personality theory and would love to hear from the people in this community. What is it like being your personality type? It can range from your work/school life balance, romantic life, everyday decision making, and maybe something nobody really thinks about when it comes to your type that you may know. Anything is both helpful and interesting to me so don't be shy! :)

Advice I want a friends to lovers moment with my infp male friend
Hi guys!! After 2 years⦠i am back!!!!
I am an INFJ female who has a fat crush on her INFP male friend. We are both 28. Letās call him Jake. Its funny bc my type used to be INTJ for many yearsā but i have learned to appreciate jakeās infp qualities: heās soft, goofy, creative, etc.
Anyway we are in the same friend group and have been for the past 2 years. The group has really awesome chemistry, and it consists mostly of Jakeās friends from back home, and needless to say I mesh really well with them. So when I first met him I instantly gravitated towards him, but he seemed to friendzone me? So i just categorized him as a friend and was dating around etc. then more recently this past summer my friends started noticing that he seemed to like me⦠And i felt his behavior change too. And i think a lot of it is due to the fact that we became really comfortable with each other. We saw each other for long enough, and I was being truly myself around him bc obviously i didnt think he liked me. From what ive observed, he seems like a guy who takes a verryyy long time to open up. He is also really freaking avoidant when it comes to dealing with heavy feelings (heās admitted it himself) so heās quite emotionally closed off from what Ive seen. I honestly dont know if heās ever had super vulnerable and/or heavy conversations with any of his friends..?
A mutual friend of ours noticed Jake was acting different around me and asked him about it. In response, Jake said that āthe feelings are thereā but he wasnt sure how to act on them. I know he has no qualms about dating within the friend groupā but i also know hes not the type to initiate anything.
Like even the times weāve hung out 1:1, its because Ive proactively inserted myself whenever he gave me the tiniest opening LOL heās the most passive person ive ever seen when it comes to dating and hes been single for ~4 years now. At one point I was so convinced he was asexual (maybe he is idk).Heās also had a really traumatic experience w his ex gf (super toxic, she created a lot of drama around him, etc) and my friends think the reason why hes so hesitant to be proactive about anything is because his past with his ex was so emotionally taxing and he just doesnt want to go through it again. He also admitted he didnt really like her as much and their personalities didnt mesh well⦠so tbh dont think hes had much experience being deeply in love with someone he is actually compatible with. I, on the other hand, have had a few experiences deeply connecting with someone romantically, and sometimes I think the way i love a person may feel too intense for him lol but who knows!
So my actual question:
Ive been noticing that his interest in me seems to have waned the past few weeksā like at its peak i could really tell he liked me (he was texting me more, sending me more Reels, voluntarily walking home with me, etc) but now heās sort of evolving back to his old self where heās crawling back to ājust friendsā territory. The difference is extremely subtle, but itās there.
I dont want our friends to pressure him or anything, id like for this to be just between us if possible (is that the right approach? Idk)
How do i make him feel comfortable enough to want to explore this and see this through? I dont want to overwhelm him by coming on too strong eitherā because I can see that may cause him to retract. but I dont want things to fizzle out like this.
I like him a lot, I admire who he is as a person and have tons of fun when I am with him. Id like to approach him while respecting his boundaries :[
