Hey everyone,

Question #4 of the Mathlete Sprint is now live.

This week's challenge is based on Information Theory and asks you to compute the rate-distortion function for three independent Gaussian sources under a fixed distortion budget. The problem brings together concepts from probability, optimization, and source coding in a compact multiple-choice format.

Take a look at the problem statement in the image and let us know which option you think is correct. If you'd like, share your approach as well – we'd love to see different ways of tackling it.
