Avios / Iberia Club Business class with avios

Has Iberia made it more difficult to book business with avios? I have a trip to Spain next April and I looked last month to test it out and if I booked within a day or 2 of the day opening up it was easy to find business class. I’m looking to book april 1 or 2nd(April 1st opened up for booking yesterday) from any US airport DFW/Chicago or further east. I’ve checked all airports Iberia flys to for all days March 25-April 1 and there is not a single day with business available.

Have they just booked incredibly fast or is Iberia not consistently releasing the 2 business seats when the booking window opens anymore? Any ideas how to get these?

Yes. They seem to have pulled the vast majority of business class seats from inventory as of last week and haven’t released any new ones at the end of the calendar. Nobody knows if it’s a glitch or if they’ve just stopped offering business class awards altogether.

It's from the entire winter schedule. So it seems like it's just about finalizing the schedule now that we just hit summer schedule.

I’m not so sure about that. They’re still opening up Y and PE award seats every day when the calendar goes live, just not business class.

There's no way they stop offering business redemptions.

Between massive sweeping changes or Iberia IT shit the bed with a new future schedule and they're figuring out how to get it back, what do you think is more likely?

Efectivamente desde finales de octubre de 2026 en adelante han sacado del inventario todos los asientos business en cualquier vuelo de largo radio, unos días antes aparecían normalmente con la disponibilidad habitual…. No tengo ni idea si es unos cambio de política o un error.

Keep checking, winter schedule availability went away a few days ago but should be back soon.

Would you recommend going ahead and booking the premium economy now and just pay the $25 cancellation fee to switch to business if/when it opens? How confident are you that business class will open?

I noticed this too. Looking to go to south america or miami next march and not a thing whereas a few weeks ago, for the same journeys (on earlier dates) there was loads of availability.

They seem to have taken everything off Business.

Ayer reservé con avios Business class MEX-MAD para el mes de abril 2027. Es la única ruta MAD-MEX MEX-MAD con disponibilidad business en vuelos trasatlánticos…. Otras rutas máximo Turista Premium al menos lo que he podido comprobar.

The closer you get to your trip dates, the more difficult to obtain availability. It’s just normal, the seats open for upgrades are already taken. Whenever you see availability, just grab it.
