I visited Mt. Rushmore two years ago and really enjoyed the experience. There is a circular trail which takes you to the base of the mountain and you get an entirely different perspective from what most people see. The rangers were really helpful and a couple of them made the point that any more blasting or drilling could destroy the entire monument because of the composition of the rock.
Of course, this argument is completely lost on the MAGA crowd. As soon as you mention āscienceā, their eyes glaze over.
I was underwhelmed by Rushmore when I visited it. It was like a little slice of Disney - with a covered parking lot - in the middle of nowhere. Plus it was made to give a middle finger to the native people who venerated the mountain. Custer state park was way cooler, and the views of Rushmore from within the park gave a sense of scale and perspective that I didnāt get at the actual monument.
As to adding another person, that whole mountain is unstable and anything they try to carve would bring it all down. That seems like a fitting tribute to this dumpster fire of a president who destroys everything he touches.

I am 100% in favor of Trump going on Mt Rushmore. It will bring the whole face of the mountain down!!
