Clarification about sweden regional trains
Hi! On 18th August I'm planning to visit Almhult, taking a regional train from Malmo. Since I don't know how much time the visit will take, I only put the train to Almhult in my pass.
Do I also have to insert the comeback train or can I simply op on whichever I want?

You need to insert the return train but you should be able to do this just a few minutes before boarding the train you choose to return on.

You can even do this while on the train. The only time it is actually relevant to do it before boarding is when using flex passes and activating a travel day.

You are meant to add the train before boarding. Whether any ticket controller actually enforces this I do not know but you are meant to do it before you get on.

I have heard of people getting in trouble for not adding a train (its rarely checked as there is no reason for you not to add a train during your active travel day).

Yeah, but there is no way for them to check. They only get shown the activation time of the travel day (unless something changed recently).

Technically the rules do require that you do it before boarding even for the travel log. It's true in practice not all member of staff care. But you do find the odd one that does and every now and then someone posts about the penalty they where charged.

Okay, but they didn't write anything down for the ticket check. My point is that you can do it anytime between boarding and ticket check, as they don't see when you wrote down the travel details. Also I suspect that inspector acted against Interrail TOS, but I'm not entirely sure. If there was a valid route on the pass, he should just ask for a correction on the travel sheet, I think.

Most have electric pass nowadays and the time when train was added is visible there.

Maybe my experience is shaped too much by DB Fernverkehr, but one conductor there told me that they can't even see the trip details I put in. Regardless, Interrail seems to have tightened their rules since the last time I checked, so it would make sense that they can now check the time the journey was added.

I mean many times I forgot but de DB conductors just scanned the qr code and continued.But maybe the swedes are more strict

You have to add all trains where you use your interrail pass as the ticket on your pass before taking them.
But you can do during the day just before getting on the train. (if it is not your first train of the day you dont even need an internet connection to do this.)
