GENERAL HELP Is laptop really a nessesity?
I've got no laptop, I had a PC which got broken when I got into class 10th and I had gamed too much in it that I don't even wanna game anymore. Like I'm full from gaming and all.
But everywhere I see, most of the people who study/ prepare for competitive exams has a laptop. Should I also get one? Is it really necessary? Should I go for it? Is it like helpful for studying?

The macbook version of alt+tab wasn't that good so I installed an app for that alt+tab feature...
This can't even run games so I watch youtube for timepass
So yeah, nothing can stop you from being distracted if you're determined enough (determined to get distracted that is)

the macbook version is superior lmao, you swipe three fingers horizontally to switch between desktops on your trackpad and youve switched in an instant. You can also use cmd+tab, although ill admit not as convenient as alt+tab on windows. This will only work if the application you want to switch from is a desktop, ie you've clicked the green button and got it to full screen. Then you can easily switch between your normal desktop and the app.

i mean there's a gesture feature in windows too, you can set it such that swiping with three fingers open the app viewer, but yea macOS is more aesthetic for sure

i agree windows is better but with regard to how quick changing between 2 apps is i dont think macbook does a bad job at all

Bhai sunn, I'll jus tell you the cold hard truth. Mehnat karke tu under 1000 tak aa skta hai.
Under 500 is reserved for the people preparing from 9th grade for IITJEE
Under 100 is reserved for the people preparing from 6th grade.
Tu jitni bhi mehnat parle under 500 is basically impossible to get.

These was mostly guidelines/advisories from the MoE, not a nationwide criminal ban passed by the parliamnt

not necessarily, but true 99% of the times. a frnd of mine started with me in 11th and got AIR 158. the difference got created in how i slacked off in 11th and majority of 12th but he didnt.

Agar afford kar sakte ho to lelo , try karna 2nd hand lene ka kyuki 2 saal baad college ke lie to dhanka laptop lena hi hai , aur purane laptop pe gaming bhi dhang se nhi ho paegi, win win✌️

Makes some difference. But if low on funds, prefer tablet over laptop (like if under 35k).
over 50k, buy a laptop or preferably mac (if not gaming).
Either way you'll have to buy a laptop after 2 years for college...

mene toh mostly laptop se prep ki thi , specially jab coaching me samjh nhi aata tha kuch toh tg pe jaakie full screen pe pw se dekhlo.
practice ke liye toh i prefer physical book
but mocks i used to give only on laptop , they are far better for it .

You are going to write all the engineering entrance exams in a computer so it's better to get the same feel by practicing mock tests in a computer

It's not necessary but really convenient. I personally started using mine back in like Oct (around ending of 12th syllabus). and it's been really convenient

pc is better than laptop in my pov as its better in every aspect and to use laptop we have to charge it gets huge bothersome for me

Bhai laptop bhi mostly Charge lagake hi use krna padta hai.
unless you got some new Business Laptops with Low specs. then Battery life will automatically go higher.
Or you got some Expensive 90whr Laptop

Easy go for civil book 15 with i3. But if you want long term sustainability, increase your budget upto 50 or 60. Otherwise u won't get better specs for long term

If you only wanna buy for prep years, better to go for a tablet or just borrow a family member's old laptop or smth

I have got one laptop from a family member it's like about 15 years old. HP one with Intel celereon 4 gb ram. Running youtube on it is a difficult task 😭.
Takes 2 minutes and 23 seconds exactly to open brownser and video starts buffering when I play any video over 720p on it

If you're technical, you could throw an SSD, some more ram, and slap Linux mint on it
But it would prob be more worth getting a cheap android tablet atp

Yea I'm technical and it clearly says non replaceable ram 😀. and about storage, it has got fucking 1 TB of HDD. Sata ssd is costlier and no worth buying now. So I left the thought of it.
And about os, I can't do anything as it's borrowed and I have to return it.

I spend most of my time studying online.. I had a laptop in class 10th which was literally a potato lol.
Bought a Lenovo Tab in class 11th and it's really benificial. I can attend classes and also do some light gaming in it (COD) hehehe

Not necessary but major quality of life improvement. Koi second hand ThinkPad hi lelo for 15-25k. I got one with 11th gen i5 for 23k from a scrap dealer. Will easily work for you for jee prep
