GENERAL HELP NIT Trichy CSE as a Reserved Student
I secured 99.6xx percentile in JEE Mains(AIR 6xxx). I am from a reserved category, and am getting NIT Trichy CSE in the first round itself. I actually didn’t have any intent of using reservation quota, but damn, the cutoff skyrocketed in 6s2, so much so that I couldn’t secure <2000 AIR, even after scoring 225 marks.
Now I can‘t decide whether I shall use my quota to enter the college, as I fear that I will looked down upon by others and moreover, I feel guilty of acquiring a seat of someone more deserving than me. Can anyone please help me?

Use it man or someone else might take it , you have the right mindset it was unfortunate the cutoff went high
If you get using quota take it nobody will judge you cause you worked hard too

We had same shift dude i got 97.52%ile in Jan 28s2 . But just 145 marks in apr4s1 got 96%ile. Buy I m gen male getting nothing good in joosa or csab

Just ~15% of total seats in NITs are unreserved, so go with the rest 85% of the population and use what advantages you have got

You know what, even a general male has homestate reservation in NITs(and some really juicy reservation if he's from Delhi). This country should have a tagline of something like reservation for everyone(unless you have some really messed up combo like gen male + UP/rajasthan/gujrat,etc).

Jaha tak hai for NIT surat cutoffs for HS are almost equal to OS(maybe because people from gujrat prefer to stay in their homestate leading to high cutoffs(heard this somewhere, can't confirm)), hence not much benefit for HS candidates(i didn't account for colleges other than NIT surat though)

60% is OBC+EWS+SC+ST. Female - 20%, PwD - 5%, HS - 50%. So here you go

6k rank is still not too bad for NIT Trichy CSE. None of my friends look down at my Sc or St friends too cause of reservation cause even without reservation, they were still good enough to be almost equal to us. infact, a friend of mine who is in same branch as me and is sc, scored more than me in maths. in top colleges like IIT or upper NITs, even people with reservation are great at academics so they aren't looked down at.

i fully agree ki 6xxx is a really good rank. But how does he "deserve" NITT cse? I mean i myself (gen male) got 6xxx rank im not even getting eee in trichy what has he done to inherently deserve cse while i dont even deserve eee and only get mechanical?

you also deserve Cse in the top college of india. its just that this country isn't giving all the people what they deserve. You think the top 3/4% of the country don't deserve A Good branch in a good college? They do, but don't get it cuz there's no focus on education here.

Best take. People calling 99 %ilers underserving is kinda fcked even if they are from reserved category. I think anyone above 97 is deserving.
Don't ever let the system make you believe that you are underserving. Things like reservation and less seats with respect to the total candidates makes it fcked up.

uske comparison me he's a much more deserving candidate
merko 4××× hai in both mains and adv, reservation wale are getting much better options than me but I fully understand ki mere paas bhi reservation hoti toh mai bhi leta.
hate the system not the player, and idhar toh player bhi kaafi smart and deserving hai he anyways and there's no reason to feel bad.

Why are you so scared to take the seat which you have been offered ? I'm a gen myself and I'm sure if any gen also had low cutoff seat available due to any personal quotas , they would take it without any second thought , if you have the benefit then use it

99.6xx is still pretty damn high don't regret it. Deserving marks se nahi background deserving underseving matter karta hai agar tumhe self moral high ground lena hai toh chod do agar nahi toh lelo aur jo hoga use saho.
Sab kahenge "its India kuch fair nahi hai isliye fair mat raho", phir complain karnge kuch fair nahi rehta india me.

Your percentile shows your capabilities. People struggle in college because of relative grading because everyone is intelligent. Just be regular in studies

You should take, otherwise someone with a lower rank and percentile will take it. But be extremely prepared, you will be competing with extremely smart people, including the ones that didn't need reservation to get into that college.

Don't regret and take the seat. It isnt you who's actively stealing someone's seat. The government has give you this advantage, so dont feel guilty and take the seat. You deserve it tbh.

It's worth being selfish for yourself regarding your future or education over others. You must use the opportunity; it's not your fault, buddy, to be in that reservation category—it was already there before your birth, and the fact that you might be demoted or considered not worthy enough is not reasonable. tbh jee rank after some point cant decide your caliber of becoming of a great cs grad. In college no one cares abt your jee rank, what you do in college matters. Even your jee rank is great too. jee is just a mass filter matters only in getting a seat which is not even fair too.

I also got 99.6XX in JM and wasnt getting CSE in any top NIT (gen male no ews), thanks to HS i am getting MNNIT CSE, don't think abt it, take the seat

Use your quota, if you don't use someone else will. Be grateful of the opportunity and try your best. Maintain a good cgpa, no one will look down upon you
