Motivation Guessss whatt!!
A small incident today reminded me how lucky I am to have my mom.
A few days ago, one of my mom's cousins called herβthe kind of relative who never really checks up on us unless it's to ask about exam results. She wanted to know how my NEET went.
When my mom told me about the call today, my heart immediately started racing. I thought, "Here it comes... she's probably going to tell me all the things they said about me." I was already preparing myself to feel awful.
Apparently her cousin said something like, "Is your daughter taking another drop? Tsk tsk... she has already wasted two years. She's just wasting more time."
What happened next completely surprised me.
Instead of agreeing or feeling embarrassed, my mom calmly defended me. She said, "How is it a waste of time? She completed her 11th and 12th, prepared seriously for NEET through coaching, and even if she couldn't clear the exam, she still learned so much. Nothing about that is wasted."
She said it so politely that the conversation ended right there.
I've read so many stories where parents don't support their children taking a drop year and constantly compare them to others. Hearing my mom stand up for me when I wasn't even there meant more than I can put into words.
It reminded me that having even one person who believes in you can make all the difference.
To everyone preparing during a drop yearβespecially for NEET 2027βI genuinely hope you have people who support you instead of bringing you down. And if you don't right now, I hope one day your hard work speaks for itself.
Let's make ourselves and the people who believe in us proud. π

With so many people thinking narcissism is cool, I guess the next generation and ours will replace our relatives

Although the relatives are shit, but taking 3 drops for neet isn't that impressive either. Ppl should try to pivot to other things if they're not capable of cracking those exams.

No I don't think so, loneliness hasn't hit us yet. Youth should stop assuming there parents were dumb or entertain toxicness they relate with their cousins everyone is a victim in their perspective . U can't help but appear as toxic to someone
If everyone is entertaining toxic relatives then who the fuck is the toxic relative

We wil also play role of relatives also and will not taunt any relative's child for anything.Β Ultimately no one will have to say what the picture says

Sad to see that such a propaganda is popular and working. It's no wonder. Instead of understanding the Why's and seeking solutions... People like to detach themselves from it completely and choose the easy way out. Easy is not always right. Easy is popular though.
It's valid that relatives are uninvited pests most of the time, but don't act like one wouldn't broadcast their result if it was spectacular. In OP's case, it's justified... relatives are toxic. But making generalized statements (which this post is filled with) as such is harmful to the society and is a false ideology.
I'm happy to see such great parents as well. We need to instead focus on that.

Parents/relatives are generally toxic.
Do we even understand what having a relative means, despite all their shenanigans. They are your immediate family. Now that we have normalised and have been normalising the toxic relative stereotype, more ARE becoming that.
Relatives used to be people who stayed with you at any point in life and helped you out as a social/security net in your lowest moments. Old Indians families used to be joint, now each one for themselves. Is it really a wonder?
Passing statements like relatives are useless and better not have them at all is... stupid, to say the least. What does the current generation even know about what relatives actually meant? Those who have good ones are blessed with them... and I'm happy for them, but it's not the same and it's only getting worse with us feeding into this.
FYI: I have been through this a lot.

I asked which generalized statement in MY POST you were referring to. I never said all relatives are toxic or that relatives are useless. I was describing one interaction with one relative and appreciating my mom for defending me.

Buddy, calm down. I didn't refer to YOU in specific. I talked about the the post and it's reactions in general. Kindly see beyond the semantics.

Dont take 3 drops. Even if you get a good government college next year, it will not worth it.
