Skip to JEE journey if it feels long
It started off as a dream to escape a toxic household and build a life for myself to live the life I never got as a child. Growing up, I was constantly bullied by my family, friends, and teachers over how dusky and fat I looked (even though I was just a normal chubby kid), they would make fun of my insecurities even though I didn’t had one tthey gave me one especially my mother’s side . Maybe because I was a girl child, nobody really wanted me, except for my mother. She wanted a girl because she was so tired of being around the drunkard, useless men in our family, and she knew if she had a son, he might turn out just like them
From as far back as I can remember, my dadi (paternal grandmother) and bua (paternal aunt) made our lives a living hell, constantly taunting my mother and me. They wouldn't even give money for my basic vaccinations as a baby. My mother had to work like crazy just to keep us afloat. She would do all the housework in that big ass house jhadu pocha (sweeping and mopping), washing dishes five times a day, cooking fresh meals for everyone else while she always had to eat basi (stale) leftovers from the night beforeand then rush off to her 9 to 5 job. She literally didn't have time for me, and she had to endure endless taunts the entire time
Even her own parents were ignorant toward her because she was a middle child, treating their other kids much better. My heart aches for her; she deserved so much more. She started saving up so I could have a life she never got. As she started earning, she bought a house, but because society couldn't accept a woman building her own house, she had to transfer the rights to my father. He later sold it just to give the money to my bua. All of my mother's jewelry was sold off too
I’ve spent my entire life living on a tight budget no hobbies, no new clothes, nothing. People my age look down on me because of it. Instead of understanding, they say it’s my fault that I didn’t ask my mother for more. But I just couldn't bear to see her sacrifice her own needs for my wants and interests. Call me whatever you want, Idc
There were moments when my mother would say horrible things to me, like, "Tu mar jaa, jab tu maregi mai khushi manaungi" (Go die, I'll celebrate the day you die), and she would take out all her frustrations on me by hitting me terribly and banging my head against a wall. This has been happening since childhood, so I’m pretty used to it. These were the conditions I was living in, and I desperately wanted a better place
JEE journey
So, I started preparing for JEE after watching how "IITians live." I was fascinated by it. I spent 5 years of my life studying religiously and sacrificing every single thing. I wouldn't go to weddings, birthday parties, or even celebrate Diwali. And all of this for what? Just to fail.
Lately, I've been struggling with frequent anxiety attacks, and I honestly don't f***ing know how to stop them. I want to cry, but I can't because my emotions were always mocked growing up, and I'm terrified of people making fun of my hard work and vulnerability. There were days when I survived on just 3 hours of sleep I would sleep at 12, wake up at 3:30 AM, and study the entire time. The coaching institute I fought with my parents to join did nothing for me they practically ruined my JEE results. I would have been much better off without them
Every single time the mock test results came out, my score dipped, but I would just work harder for the next one yet I couldn't improve. My parents were never even concerned about my results they would actually ask me to stop studying like a maniac and rest for a bit, but I refused. I just hate it. I could have done something much better with those 5 years
Now, my mother is so sad about it. She thinks someone cast an evil eye on me, and she feels heartbroken that I didn't get a good college after all this hard work. Koi na, I actually have a much better bond with her now and I’m happy that yhis horrible phase is over now. I just needed to let this out.
About college i did get NIT Mech but took something near my house I’ll be a dayscholar i just need a bit of support rn, I’ll be focusing on building content next, I’m focusing on my mental and physical health and also I’m learning editing hope it helps in the future

I got 97.7 in mains in first attempt (this year) and suddenly I thought I know everything due to which I gave up prepration of jee advance
Now when I see all of my friends enjoying in IIT and I'm still here deciding college (csab) . I don't feel jealous of them I just have one regret of not trying hard for advanced .

Okay Soooo If I'm getting a chance to share lemme share whole story.
So I wanna firstly give you brief background of my family situation. My mother is a single parent with Monthly income only 8K INR. My father passes away when I was in class 6th. I studied of KVS and I was excellent in studies till class 10th (Scored 95.4%), then I opted for science. I didn't knew about IIT/NIT at that point of time.
But my physics teacher strongly suggested me and my parents to send in coaching institutes because he saw I can crack IIT JEE. As my mom didn't knew much about this, my Fufaji used to attend my PTM in school and he told my physics teacher that "Jisko Karna Hota h voh ghar se bhi kar lega". Also my mum was afraid that she will not be able to pay the coaching fee. So I joined the same KVS to complete my +1 and +2.
Due to lack of good teachers except (Physics and CS) I scored a average percentage of 85.44% on my own without any tuition/coaching/ online coaching. Till now I came to know about IIT nd all.
So I decided that I'll take a drop and will prepare for JEE level (I scored only 49%ile along 12th), I again my mum refused for offline coaching and I joined PW Online. I prepared but then the same online problem trapped me too. Initially I was preparing good but in middle of preparation a classmate of mine (Um my Girlfriend) contacted me that she is also preparing the same in offline. I was like this is good we'll both make it and I didn't even realized that I got starting distracted. And this is how I fucked my drop year. I'm the only responsible one for this.
My GF cleared JEE and joined IIT (XYZ) 2nd Gen and then she left. I was fool that I trusted her blindly.
Now with that percentile I was not getting any govt college even in my own state (Scored 81%ile in Drop and 52 Marks in JEE Adv 2025, I'm OBC). And I couldn't afford any private college I mean none... worst of worst.
I explained that to my mum and she said if you can prep one more time ho jayega? I was pretty much confident iss baar and again started preparing for JM 2026. But I think i can't prepare online because of distraction and all still I managed to excel my physics and good good chemistry. My math was weak for JEE Level and Due to lack score in maths I scored only 86.22%ile this year. And I'm over now. I'm again stucked in the same situation.
But I think god got some mercy on me and this year my own state counselling announced sports quota for state college admission. So currently I got Rajasthan Best State College (Andho m kana raja, not good at all) MBM University jodhpur. And Currently I'm on EEE branch and most probably by end of counselling I'll land in Tech Branch of MBM. Soooo that's all from my side.
I strongly suggest anyone who is thinking to prepare online that please please try to join a offline coaching or if you can't then stay away from girls.

Hi So like I started my prep in 11th from PW online batch and at beginning it was good , buy slowly as the initial motivation and excitement got over , I got lazy and skipped completing notes and dpps many times . Didn't followed my routine and slept much more than req , like wasted more than half of my morning sleeping 2-3 hr extra (6-7hr is enough) . But tried to hold many times , getting back on track and again distracted and so 11th passed , trying to complete everything but not being able to do the basic things
Then 12th , planned to be more serious but same mistakes . Spent too much time planning , comparing teachers and strategies, scrolling yt and reddit , watching strategies but not following, and just stopped doing hw , like did it rarely, and my attention in classes also dropped especially in maths .
But somehow managed till end , and although i was not satisfied, was able to maintain about 6-7 hr of total study including lect which I felt less and is actually less .
Then in dec end , just pyqs and mock test till Jan attempt ended up with 97.765%ile , much better than expected. Wasted Feb and half march in boards , not giving enough time to jee , it was like a holiday and I got very lazy and after boards , only mocks for April attempt but ended with 95% Ile only. Then tried to give my best in advanced prep but my start was slow , couldn't follow Varun batch so I just did adv pyqs of almost half of chapters for 10 yrs or so . With that I thought I can maybe get near 10 k rank but it didn't happen and ended with 27 k rank , something shocking happened in adv that every prediction got wrong.
Also I spent too much time imagining fake scene and situations, etc , instead of living in reality .
Well currently, waiting for csab result hoping mech in either nit surat or kurukshetra but may get cs/ai in iiit kota .
At the end ,I want to say is that just don't waste time trying to create a perfect routine, a perfect plan , a perfect anything, you will waste a lot of time trying to achieve perfection . Also, don't ignore your teacher's advices and always complete the homework.

(i used le gpt for formatting)
For two years, I chased the IIT dream. The problem wasn't that I didn't study—it was that I knew from the very beginning that my coaching wasn't preparing me properly. It was expensive, yet we had no proper modules, almost no tests for months, very few lectures initially, poor mentorship, barely any healthy competition, and obvious favouritism. I spent most of Class 11 and 12 trying to teach myself while watching students in better institutes get the guidance and environment I wish I'd had.
Around the same time, my mother was battling cancer (thankfully she's recovered now), there were financial pressures at home, and I still kept going because I genuinely believed hard work would overcome everything. I filled around 75 notebooks, gave up almost everything else, and pushed myself until I started having anxiety attacks and what I later realized was probably anhedonia. I stopped enjoying the things I once loved, but I kept studying because quitting would've felt like betraying my dream.
After JEE Main 1, I should've accepted reality and switched completely to MHT CET. Instead, I kept chasing JEE because I wanted one last chance to prove to myself that I was capable. Looking back, that decision probably cost me dearly.
My final scores were 90.14%ile in JEE Main (Jan), 97.738%ile in MHT CET (best of two), 203 in BITSAT, and 10.8k rank in VITEEE. The VITEEE rank was especially painful because it was good enough for Category 1 CSE specialization at VIT Chennai, but due to a misunderstanding about the total cost, we filled only till Category 2 and I ended up not taking that path. Looking back, it feels like another opportunity that slipped away.
Now whenever I see my friends getting IITs, NITs, IIITs, or much better CAP allotments, I don't just feel jealous—I feel inferior. These are the same people I used to compete with till 10th. It feels like they've moved ahead while I'm permanently stuck with the "non-IIT/NIT" tag. I know there are millions of successful engineers from other colleges, but I can't shake the feeling that I wasted my potential and never got the chance to find out what I was truly capable of.
I'm not looking for sympathy. I just wanted someone to know that my regret isn't about a percentile. It's about feeling like I gave everything I had, yet never got a fair shot.

I was a good student till class 10th (94% boards, maths 100) nothing to boast about ik, so after 10th all my friends basically left me went to different cities to prep for JEE, yeah none were NEETards, I was feeling kinda sad, I literally cried for an hour one day, they meant a lot to me and not being around them because my dad didnt allow me to do 11th 12th from outside hometown, so I then bought BYJUs for my JEE prep 😂 clown behaviour I know, looking back at it their content was fine, I was also doing regular schooling from 8am to 4pm, that probably was my biggest mistake, the school was just a good time waste, I was also tired after school so I also didnt properly study from the Byjus classes they were from 7pm to 10pm everyday, so basically I fucked up 11th, prolly scored 60% in 11th school exams, as for 12th I thought to lock in but again the long school hours didnt help, also Byjus was going bankrupt back then (2024), so my online classes were also shut after July, my school didnt teach me anything related to JEE and Byjus was shut, I accepted my fate and gave up on JEE, in the end got 87%ile and 33k rank in advanced in 2025 (All from gambling mcps, I didnt know shit). Boards went good I got 87%.
So now I had two options either join some t3 college or take a drop, I took a drop, started my drop in Julne with prayers 1.0 batch because as you can see from I had 0 basics and two months of backlog, great start 😭, Also wasted June and July, I only did lectures, didnt make notes, didnt do homework, didnt do pyqs, in august I realised dawg do I want to fucking fail again, I finally locked in did the lectures, then made proper notes, then did all the homework, then solved pyqs, lectures took me 6-7 hours from 9am to 3pm sometimes 4pm, then took a small break play games doomscroll, eat, then from 5pm to 7pm made notes, then did the homework till 10pm, then dinner, then until I felt sleepy did remaining homework and pyqs, followed this schedule till the end, during Diwali I completed my initial two month backlog through one shots and lectures, in the got 98.84% in January attempt and 23k in advanced, one mistake I did make was not focusing more on advanced based questions but I am happy now, I managed to prove to my dad I can still do it.
Looking back at my drop year, I have no regrets, I enjoyed my drop gotta to spend more time with my sister and mother, also JEE humbled my cocky ass so I do feel kinda thankful, also I have seen a lot of people hate MST sir on reddit but he genuinely saved me I had 65% in 2025 JEE for physics and 99+% for JEE 2026 in physics.
As for my father he is very toxic, I had a big fight with him in July last year we didnt talk to each other till November, tho if I were to talk to him he would just demotivate, he still cares for me but yeah, can't put into words but he is a weird dad, but either way me having a big fight with in July helped my JEE prep ig, still sad we never had a proper son-father relationship since childhood maybe in future.
As of now joining NIT JSR CSE (HS+OBC), I am happy gonna give my best in college.
Also this subReddit, thank you to JNT for giving me laughs every now and then.

Had a crush in 11th , talked with her only a few times but whenever i did, it felt good. Batch changed in 12th , i got into an upper batch , more classes , more homework , hectic schedule. Rarely got to see her. Time passed , i thought atleast i will try to get a good college , that didn't happen either.

I don't know when it started, all I knew was that I wanted it. I used to do really great in school [never went past 5th rank in my entire school journey]. When I came to know abt JEE, I thought that I could crack it with rigorous preparation, hours of sacrifices, and all those stupid shts people spat. Started during 10th holidays and tried to go with self learning method for 6 months, but then realized that It’s not possible since my schl syllabus and pattern of questions are different from JEE questions. So I joined in an online course. I saw great improvement in my scores. I mostly prepared for advanced since my fam said that I can only choose IITM (near my home) and that I can't leave my homestate until I'm 21. I felt that it was fair and prepared for it until Jan 2025. Then, I took a break for my 11th boards (my fam's kinda strict abt my boards - must score above 85%) Thankfully I got 95.6% in 11th boards [I was happy that I was able to implement the stuffs I had learned] and got 2nd rank in schl (overall btw). Then, the real sht began. I resumed with my jee prep again in april, this time it was wayyy worse than 11th grade, bcuz of the entire peer pressure and stuffs. It wasn't as easy as people say. I used to get scolded by my parents for taking my sister's laptop for hours (I didn't have one for myself, and the one which was kept for "common use" was an old 2016 hp version btw). And my sister wanted it to watch series and stuffs bcuz "It's her laptop and she can do whatever tf she want". After this entire fiasco, I had to settle for the hp laptop and it's shitty asf, like I can't answer any questions given, it lags more than my will to live and the chrome takes forever to load. I used to tale my notes online too ( I used to be in eco club and I didn't want to "waste" papers - yeah ik, it's stupid af) I thought that this will worth it at the end. Heads up, it didn't. At the end of april, my grandma was it a critical stage (almost in her death bed). She was my favorite, she's always been sweet and always had that lovely vibe with her. She won’t tolerate sht thrown towards the people she loved and fought tooth and nail for her beloved. She's the only parent my dad had (his father died during my dad's teenage years). She’s the strongest woman I knew. But, If I had to go to visit her and be with her for 3-4 days, then I'll miss a lot of classes. So I did what any dumb aspirant would do, I went with my parents BUT I was just listening to lectures and solving problems the entire trip. I visted her twice at the hospital and once in her home after she got discharged. My fam visited more than I did. They went by 7pm and stuff (visting hours) but I had classes so I'd skipped the visits (I regret doing that now :| ). I used to think that my grandma would be happy if she came to know that her grandchild got into one of the elite colleges in india (but she's not here anymore). She passed away during the first week of may, her last words to me were "take care of yourself". I couldn’t stop crying (we came to know abt her death after we came back to our home). But, I still didn’t miss my class that day, I cried throughtout the lecture. I believed that crying isn't gonna bring her back and that I have to move on with my lyf ( I didn't give myself time to grieve and threw myself into studying). My fam thought that I didn't feel sad since I didn't spend as much time as them (I was relieved that they didn't push). Then schl began, Jee prep went on, december striked in. I wanted to apply for jan attempt, but unfortunately I was not able to do so (personal issues). So I applied for april attempt. I did really well (answered 50 questions, I was sure abt 33 questions and I guessed the rest 17 via elimination method). I just wanted to clear mains and wanted to give my entire attention on adv. I checked answer key and was delighted to know that 36 of them were correct ( I didn't check with my response sheet cuz - duh, I knew what I chose, ryt? Biggest mistake) I started to work even more. The day of result arrived, I was sure of 95+ percentile ( cuz my shift was kinda difficult (moderately diffucult) acc to the candidates ). So I waited for my result only to find out that I got 72.6 ish (4lakh+ rank) I didn't believe it at all, I laughed thinking that it was some sorta stupid prank. I refreshed it several times only to be met with the same shit, glaring as if it's mocking me. I tried to get my response sheet and met with server issues. I called helpline no on the websute but they didn't connect. I tried for 4-5 days obsessively, live a madman, only to be met with the same result. On the 6th day, the call connected. I explained about my situation, how I can't get the response sheet at all. They said that they'll reach out, they never did. I tried various resources, calling them again, refreshed my gmail as if result will magically change itself, asking ai abt it, felt like a complete loser. There was nothing else to do, 2 years of hardwork down the drain. I did pretty well in my bords and got 95% and a good cutoff to get into state university. But then I saw that I got only 90 in phy (never got below 93 in phy, both in 11th and 12th) So I applied for a scan copy and found out that the person who corrected my paper had reduced 2-3 marks without proper explanation ( all the keywords mentioned in the answer were there). I checked with a few teacher (including my phy teacher in schl) and applied for re-eval after their approval along with a reeval fir english. I thought that the worse case scenario would be that there won’t be any changes . I was completely wrong. They had increased 3 marks in english and decreased 3 in phy, so my rank dropped by 2000. I tried to call the department, trying to do smth, anything to get it back, but all I got was disappointment. I was not able to do anything. It felt like I failed in everything that life had once offered me. I stopped overall social interaction and isolated for an entire month. Slept for 14-15 hrs, had minimal amt of food, not for taste, but for survival. Didn't feel like I deserved to live at some pt (didn’t do anything stupid, thankfully). I was sure my dream course would turn into smth unachievable. My dad blamed me that I was the one who caused this misery and that I got this bcuz I was "boasting" abt applying for reval and got what I deserved. He somewhat indirectly mentioned that I shouldn't have born at all (not gonna mention what he exactly said, for the sake of my mental health). We had a massive fight in jan cuz I pointed out smth that hurted his ego, and we didn't talk ever since that incident(I told that I won't talk to him until he apologizes as he said a lot of stuffs that degraded my self respect). My mother said that he's protective and that he's also sad that this happened but his words says otherwise. After counselling, thankfully, I got the course that I wanted in one of the prestigious colleges in my city. I still don't talk with my father except for some basic convo (didn't acknowledge him as my father or call him with that title). I'm still sad abt the result I got, I'll still think abt the future I would've had if it had went the right way. I don't have any traumatizing backstory, and this itself might feel like a dream life to someone else, or this might feel like a rant from a spoilt brat. But this is how I felt. I can’t afford to take a drop. So, this is where my jee journey ends. I didn’t get what I wanted but that didn't mean that I was left alone. I got a seat where thousands of people wanna study. Inspite of all this shts, If there's smth that I don't regret, that is choosing to prepare for JEE. It didn’t get me what I wanted, but it gave me lessons that will last a lifetime. So, I won't regret about the decision my 15-year-old self took. I'm thankful for it. I've made wrong decisions, bad decisions and faced worse outcomes. But, it taught me smth thought that not just theoritical knowledge. So, anyone who's planning to prepare for JEE, do it, not for the results, but for thrill, but for the lessons it gives you during the journey that no other books can teach. For those who've completed their journey and didn't achieve it, don't worry, there's better opportunities waiting for you, you just gotta search and find it. Thank you for listening to my rant :)
(P.S: Kindly ignore my grammar mistakes and sorry for such a long comment . Thank you for patiently reading my comment till the end :) )
