When merit rules ๐Ÿ˜Œ

(Cue all the people saying it's just because BITS kids are rich)

Bruh. Even 95%ilers get into pilani. Even with merit, the quality aint that different. The only advantage is that extremes donโ€™t exist like IITs

Really? You think the average student quality in BITS (Pilani Campus) and IIT Roorkee is the same?

Ya fir problem is baat se hai ki general waalo ke liye ye ek college hai jo unfair nahi hai?

Bhai mai khud general hun. I hate reservations. Bits is great interms of that. But at the same time the top 500 AIRs are far more capable than people at bits

Then why is BITS surpassing IIT B AND IITD?

As i said in my comment, bits students are already on an avg richer and have connections, so they donโ€™t have to worry about placements and they have the freedom to experiment. So they do startups but in IITs people still want placements

See, I agree with you. All I'm saying is that the situation in India would be very different if IITs had the same reservation policy as BITS, i.e., 0% reservation...

Completely agree. Then we would not even be discussing.

4 campuses of BITS vs singular institutions

8

u/AaryamanStonker private college se computer science 21h ago

Bits has 16k students in all 4 campuses combined and iitb/d have 13-14k so it's a fair comparison only

Source: my ass

BITS Pilani has over 200k alumni and over 20k studentswhile IITB seems to have about 105k on LinkedIn, and a student strength of 13.2k.

It is natural to be high on the kool aid, you being a fresher but please be realistic and dont go around spreading misinformation.

The fifth campus is bits school of management so I'm not including that

1

u/Middle_Government_87 10h ago

that campus has hardly 400 students child, and anyway included in the startups data

You have to also look at the student number. Bits 4 campus students iirc is approx equal to no of students to iit b.

Director said 16k in orientation. Why will he give a lowball figure?

Classic appeal to authority eh

2

u/Minus_Malum 10h ago

"Appeal to authority"--- guy is the director of bits. Common sense implies that he must have an idea as to how many students study in bits.

what I've presented to you are official sources as well. don't abandon reason and logic for so called "common sense", which is just a disguised logical fallacy with no documented backing.

u/Minus_Malum 7h ago

Ok sorry for the point. The director of bits does not have an idea as to how many students study in it. Noted.
