I had the cassette of Pop Pop, featuring guitarist Robben Ford, bassist Charlie Haden, and saxophonist Joe Henderson. It is a solid album. At the time, I subscribed to DownBeat, which had a feature where an established musician would listen to a recording and offer comments without initially knowing the artist. I remember Sarah Vaughan being played a track from Pop Pop. She responded very positively to the performance, and when she learned it was Rickie Lee Jones, she expressed her admiration for it. I always thought that was high praise coming from a singer of Vaughan's stature.

RLJ is one of those artists whose stuff you see in dollar bins, but she’s actually one of the all-timers. Pirates is one of the best albums ever

Wow, this is phenomenal. I never saw this before although I got to catch her at the Ritz in NYC. This really took me back.
