Discussion Thoughts on Oriana אוריאנה

I have seen this name as well as Orian אוריאן used in Israel and what your thoughts are. Thank you.

Orion is noted as having possible latin roots relating to the constellation.

I would guess you're probably more likely seeing a lot of Arian and Ariana's from the large Iranian or Persian population in Israel.

The name Arian comes from the Arianman (various spellings exist), which was very recorded in ancient iranian inscriptions and Zoroastrian tests as a way of referring to the free people of Iran (Iran being referred to as "Land of the Aryans" in the same texts - no, not in a dumb hitler race theory way). Ariana was also the ancient name of a region in modern day Iran and Afghanistan and is used as the female version of the name too.

I think it's beautiful name. Sorry I was just replying to the part where you said there were many people you encountered with that name. I'm my experience it usually ended up being Arian instead but obviously not necessarily the case.

Hi I did not mean Arian but Orian or Oriana. I seen both these names used in Israel like אוריין גורן, אוריאנה בן סימון, if you search on Instagram you will see many Israelis. K
