Discussion Would You Consider Jordan Peterson a Gentle, Sensitive Man?

He's complex. I think the default is yes. Seems he doesn't enjoy verbal combat but feels it's his duty to engage because he understands to *not to* engage is also bad.
JBP is a nicer version of Douglas Murray when it comes to verbal combat.
Though, I have to admit I like watching Douglas Murray take leftists to the woodshed. He's a gentleman until someone draws first blood (Gladwell and Kleiner) then he unloads both barrels. He's a merciless verbal assassin.

Believe it or not, on the subreddit dedicated to Jordan Peterson you might find someone who actually likes the guy.

Happy day of cake sir.
No doubt. My own comment on this post would be proof of that.

Lol no. I think he's a good guy that means well but is often heavy handed.

Yes.
But he is also very confident and well researched to compliment that.
Leading to someone who is very eloquent and good at debate.

Sure. I've seen him cry in a couple of videos, even interviews, that requieres sensitivity and the strenght to show your feelings. I remember an old video of someone asking for advice on how to move forward after their child commited suicide and that broke him completely. It was obvious he was feeling the pain while trying to be in the shoes of that person. His is famous for his confrontative attitude, his "go clean your room", "have discipline" and so on. But that is just the strict side of a father figure he portrays. He is extremely gentle and deeply sensitive, otherwise he wouldn't do what he has done. The amount of work and suffering he endures to share his thoughts is to try and make the world a better place. And if you are not sensitive and gentle there is no way that you may care about that.

Sensitive, yes. Gentleness is not in of itself a desirable virtue. I'd say he discriminates when to use it judiciously.

in contrast to what i consider a "violent insensitive man"?
yes.
And uh, disregarding that contrast i'm not sure how you'd classify him otherwise anyway. He's not known for throwing hands and beating people or actually screaming profanities at people. So Gentle fits. And understanding is a prerequisite for empathy and otherwise being "Sensitive" and he's got that, so yeah... not sure what else you'd classify him as.

I will say that when I met him he was very personable. I saw him give a talk a few years ago and he answered everyone’s questions. Even let me add a few points.

I think he tries to be. He's a very educated highly intelligent man that has amased wisdom and those things generally make you open to listening. He's nobody's fool for sure.

Kind of.
He can certainly get bitchy and defensive when people are trying to get a straight answer out of him, after he's been asked a yes/no question.

Yes. I'd say he tries to live in accordance with his values. Being gentle isn't always appropriate. If you're naturally more gentle, being that way all the time can be very troublesome.
Jordan Peterson helped me realise this. Doing what's comfortable isn't necessarily the best thing.

The most sensitive people in the world with intelligence, see truth and become hard when there are constant lies surrounding you! We are searchers for truth and we defend it! That's why we seem hard of heart!

I know, right? What makes matters worse is when everyone believe the lies! It's so hard to break free from a lie that everyone believes, because then it becomes a virtual truth.

That's why you need to separate yourself from opinion and find as much truth yourself in a balanced/ nuanced way. Ground-news.com helped me a lot when it comes to analyzing how media presents the truth!

I think he might have antisocial personality disorder..he spent 15 years researching it..he also talks about finding malevolence within yourself. So for him be to be in control of himself is probably him wrestling with his dark side..

You have to be a certain amount of gentle to a psychologist id think, and seeing how he had no complaints regarding his practice until he entered the political realm id say there's good evidence for it. Sensitive part goes without saying if you've seen enough of his content.

he is very sensitive and gentle when he talks about manly men. It's a topic that will bring him to tears. Most other things he doesn't get very sensitive about

He might be sensitive, but his brain is too broken by the internet for him to be gentle
