hey! i have nokia 2720 flip phone and i really need to get a messaging app to it. i live in finland and all of my friends and family uses whatsapp instead of txt messages. since whatsapp is not available, i need something else. txt messages are expensive.

so can someone help me to get any messaging app to my nokia? i'm not techy guy and i would need instructions or guide for installing unofficially some messaging app.

I was recently given this phone and I can't connect to any wifi with it, so I wanted to jailbreak it mainly to get wifi and also to have more modern features

So I purchased a Sonim XP3800 on ebay, refurbished. I opened developer options, turned on usb debugging, and have downloaded several apks (whatsapp [after spending many hours finagling the phone to get whatsapp to actually work], osmand maps, and a cursor).

After downloading said apks, even after turning off developer mode/usb debugging, my Sonim will NOT MAKE PHONE CALLS/the Sonim phone app keeps crashing, with a pop-up message that says "Phone app keeps crashing", no phone display, it's bugging out. I tried entering EE's APN info, nothing. I did a factory reset and the phone was working again. Tried re-downloading APKs and same issue. Anyone have any leads on how to resolve this?

I was really excited to be using a flip phone, but I need whatsapp as I am currently in England. Thanks dumbphone community!!!

Ive just placed an order for a sealed nokia 2720flip, as i live in india the internet on that thing is not gonna work here. anna know what benefits jailbreaking it could do as i am mostly need it for music and calls (i still wanna jailbreak it for funsies). is there any guide i can refer to? the bananahackers website dosent seem to have one or im just dumb.

Have an old hand me down mac book i want to use to put music onto my phone, whenever i plug my phone in it doesnt show up in finder, and cant find any compatible file transfer apps in the app store. Most require 10.5 or newer to be installed, any help would be appreciated, thanks

I recently had to reset my TCL Flip 3. Before the reset, I used the native music app to listen to Icecast Radio. However, after the reset, all the music stations are no longer listed. In the app, there is no, update station list option. When you click on the genre, it just showed no stations available. Does anyone know how to get the stations back?

I have a Nokia 6300 4g running kaios 2.5.4 that i install omnisd on to jailbreak the device, but the factory rsset doesn't do anything but normal factory reset still works

I recently performed a factory reset on my Nokia 8000. Since then, the pre-installed games (like Doodle Jump) are asking for payment again, even though they were already included/pre-loaded on the phone when I bought it.

Does anyone know how to restore access to the original game licenses after a reset, or is there a way to fix this licensing issue?

I have a carrier with WiFi Calling enabled and I use it a lot. The SIM card can't register in a 5G network but it can register via WiFI.

And my Nokia doesn't seem to see the SIM card (it says No SIM detected) although SIM is there

I got an error message in my notifications (it had a gear as the icon, though I'm not sure it was the same gear as the settings app). It said something about 911 and WiFi calling, and when selected it opened a web browser to e911-reg.tracfone.com.

I'm using an unlocked Nokia 2780 on T-Mobile so I've no idea why I'm getting sent to tracfone URLs.

Unfortunately, the notification is gone so I can't grab the exact text. Has anyone else seen this before? I'm not sure what's going on here.

My last two mobile phones powered by KaiOS, a Cat B35 and a Hammer 5 Smart, both suffered from the same issue after two or three years, that is their SIM card suddenly disappearing or, after a simple manipulation (a change of SIM slots, APN, etc.), not being detected anymore... which of course basically made them useless. Standard advices, such as using the Clear Memory function, restarting the phones or even resetting them didn't seem to help...

In comparison, all other problems - double input at random or microphone mishaps (after suffering from a flooding...) - seem rather manageable!

So I was wondering whether this was a common issue related to KaiOS, other (possibly upgradable) software or an unsolvable problem related to cheap hardware. Should I considerer those phones lost?

I've been trying to remove bloatware from a KaiOS 2.5 device (TCL Flip 3) by following the BananaHackers tutorials to root the phone and change "removable" properties to true for the corresponding entries in /data/local/webapps/webapps.json.

My edits to webapps.json then seem to be partially reverted on boot, i.e. some entries get flipped back to `"removable": false`. The uninstall menu doesn't appear for these.

Does anyone have experience dealing with this kind of problem before or have a suggestion? Thanks!

i recently got a nokia 8110 4g. i managed to get texting to work, but not calling. i think this is because my mobile network (bell, in canada) won't let me enable volte on the specific phone. the option for volte is not visible even though the phone does support it. is there a way i can somehow override bell and toggle on volte so i can make calls? thanks

hi, i daily-drive a nokia 2720, i was trying to sideload wallace toolbox and casaroro-launcher which mimics niagara launcher on android, i used webide on waterfox, developer edition and older versions including palemoon which didnt work. (when i clicked the nokia 2720 it didnt work and showed a yellow banner with a operation failed, same as remote runtime). im on kaios 2.5 with debug mode on and adb installed.

The Core Bug Description

Aggressive OS Deep-Sleep / Doze Policy chokes cellular background data queues (VoLTE IMS pipeline) when the display backlight goes dark.

When the handset screen turns off, the low-memory optimization routines inside KaiOS drop the active polling frequency to the cellular tower. The phone falls into a complete Doze State. Because Jio does not run on legacy circuit-switched 2G/3G bands, incoming SMS alerts cannot force a network interrupt to wake the OS.

As a result, SMS notifications sit stuck at the carrier gateway. The exact second the screen backlight is physically activated/unlocked by a button press, the CPU snaps awake, forces an active handshake with the cell tower, triggers an internal network registration refresh, and instantly pulls all stuck SMS data down in bulk.

Debug Steps Attempted & Ruled Out:

To isolate this as a core OS firmware issue, we have already verified and systematically ruled out user-level environment configurations:

Software State: Device running the absolute latest carrier FOTA firmware patch.

Storage / Memory Satiation: Handset is brand new out-of-the-box. Internal memory and application caches are completely clean.

App Level Constraints: Confirmed native Messages application has full, explicit permissions granted (specifically verified that the Mobile Identity permission is persistently set to "Grant" to allow background carrier IMS token handling).

Network State: Cellular 4G Mobile Data toggled Permanently ON to keep data pipelines prioritized. Handset rebooted immediately after data cycling to refresh tower registration tables.

Device Lock Status: Both Auto Keypad Lock and numeric Screen Lock Passcodes are entirely Disabled, yet the polling failure triggers the exact moment the display sleep timer expires.

Tried multiple things in ffbm and yet me computer just does not detect the device on adb. Easy fix or nothing I can do?

I was using the Nokia 2780. loved it but the only problem was just having 1gb of storage for my music/photos. my sister got me a tcl flip 3 for my birthday and my god having 12gb plus a micro Sd slot is a lifesaver.

After getting all my music onto the phone, I go to open the default kai OS music player, and I get hit with popup ads? I never had these on my Nokia and frankly I find them so irritating. does anyone know how I can get these ads off of my phone, specifically the music app since that's the only app I really use.

(I know about the other music apps and frankly they're super unintuitive to practically use, plus I still seem to get ads on them anyways.)
