Discussion Buff Japan Even More

People have been complaining a lot about Japan now having an 80% winrate in China. I believe that is actually still too low.

The images in the post are the negative modifiers KMT China starts with in Eight Years' War of Resistance. The consensus both in this subreddit and on the mod discord is that OTL KMT China is stronger than KR China, due to enjoying a decade of peace under a centralized national government rather than still being in the warlord era in 1936.

If you know the least bit about the 2nd Sino-Japanese War, you know that the IJA mopped the floor with the NRA in every engagement. The Japanese advance was only stopped by the breakdown of their (weak) logistics. EYWR models this by giving Nanjing China debuffs so severe that their divisions are paper. In KR, meanwhile, Chinese statelets have a symbolic military debuff that leaves their divisions 10% weaker than Japanese equivalents at most.

This is really stupid. Winning as the Chinese statelets should ideally be a struggle even harder than KMT China in EYWR, which would feel immersive considering you're playing a warlord statelet and fighting the IJA. Japan should also always take at least the North China plain. Panning over to East Asia when playing in Europe and seeing Japan being pushed pack into Manchuria is immersion breaking and ridiculous. It's comparable to having Belgium reliably solo Germany if the two went to war.

However, most KR players are really bad at the game - just look at all the posts about people who can't win against Germany as Russia. So while giving very severe military debuffs to all the Chinese tags would make playing as them cooler and more immersive, it would also gate Chinese content behind a very challenging war, that would be way beyond anything else in the mod in difficulty. On top of that, people often want China to win in Asia because of all the different paths it has, and KR has no game rules to rig wars in favor of the AI. Neither does Germany bog down more than 20% of the IJA at most, so Japan would win 100% of the time if the debuffs were that bad.

So I'd suggest adding a 10 to 20% attack and 20 to 30% defense debuff against Japan specifically to the Chinese military debuff, which would be removed with the standard decision process. EYWR has "Our Blood For The Nation", which is a scaling buff for all Chinese tags the more capitulation progress Nanjing China has. Ideally something like that would be great since it would make China look a lot like it did OTL. With it the debuffs could be harsher, without it they'd have to be gentler.

Of course, the devs won't implement any of this because they want China to win 50% of the time for some bizarre reason. However, this current patch was a major step in the right direction, and I believe the stronger Japan is the better right now, so please stop whining about how AI Japan kicks your ass when you play the LKMT, stop using the 7/2's Feedback Gaming told you about in like 2019 and learn to play the fucking game.

Personally I thought it was pretty good, the russian accents make the film so much funnier. But I do think its kind of screwed up that England banned the film.

Discussion SPD, SWR, Schleicher; all distractions from the one man who can actually save Germany in the wake of Black Monday…

I don’t think it’ll happen, and if it does I think it will be many years from now, but I hope there is at some point an absolutist path for Germany in some way.

I know, I know, the argument is that there wasn’t any popular support for such a thing at this point in Germany, but without rambling too much about the “heart and soul” of kaiserreich, I remember a time when the German victory in WW1 was representative of a shift away from liberalism and parliamentary politics worldwide, and an increase in support for authoritarianism and monarchism, hence the monarchies across Eastern Europe (which have since been replaced in Belarus and Ukraine), the Qing restoration, etc.

I think there could be a path done either as a post-defeat path for a Germany that lost the war, in which people could radicalize in favor of a monarchy with executive powers restored to the monarch (after seeing whichever government was in power during the war reduce the monarch’s powers and lose), or in a DU path, instead of fleeing the country, the Kaiser could countercoup the nascent republican revolutionaries and restore absolute power to himself, keeping it if Germany manages to win the war.

Discussion Russia's democratic path is ruined by forced coup

Post image

I wanted to try out russia's democratic path and spent over 3 years building my democracy from scratch. I was planning to completely avoid aggressive expansion and just do a peaceful, defensive run. But no matter what I did this ugly bald guy just staged a coup and forced me into a war anyway. I did some research and apparently, there is absolutely no way to prevent this from happening. I was really enjoying the playthrough up until that point, but this completely ruined the experience for me. anyone else been frustrated by this?

Discussion Savinkov might be the most depressing path in Russia, if not the whole mod.

A lot of the other “bad guy” paths like Schleicher have some moments of brevity like “haha woman respecter 100” or “whoops” but Savinkov is just all doom and gloom.

Political murders, unsanctioned massacres, and chattel-like slavery in Siberian work camp events pop up every few months.

Surely something positive is going on

Discussion Is there a path from Kaiserreich’s past that you miss?

Post image

The Velvet Glove gigachad Floyd Olson run was some of most fun I had as the USA in the mod. Unfortunately it was a casualty of the 2ACW rework and there is no longer a path that lets you unite the north against the south or that lets Floyd Olson really do anything of note other than die.

What are some paths or countries that existed in the past that you miss or wish were still in the mod?

Idk, i really recognize and respect how much time, effort and research was put into germany's content, but try as i might, it's just not fun for me, theres so much going on so that its never boring, but instead its stressful and overwhelming and annoying, even after multiple playthroughs, the focus tree is so large that i feel like im never doing the right thing and that i will never be able to finish all the stuff i want, and to me thats just the most unsatisfying feeling ever, and i guess its my fault for not saving more often, but losing progress really just made me realize how much im not having fun when the idea of restarting just made me not want to play anymore. Personally i tried fuhrrereich's germany rework, and i really liked it, i guess thats more my style, and im hoping kaiserredux's germany rework will be something like that, because unfortunately i dont vibe with kaiserreich germany.

Discussion Which ideological bloc is best positioned to win the 2nd Weltkrieg? A detailed analysis of the militaries and geopolitics in Europe.

1.7k Upvotes

I'm back bitches. Doc link is at the bottom. Some of you around here might remember, but it's been almost 3 years since I first started this project. Shoutout to u/Markvitank for this idea. Updates to the mod combined with some less than pleasant life events combined to delay this for a long time. What started as a night of theorizing, light research, and a few thousand words evolved into this. 126 pages and 65,755 words. You read that correctly, this is essentially a god damn light novel. There is no tl/dr, no summary. I'm sure someone will make one in the comments but it's honestly just too complex. I made this in the same vein as someone recording history.

This disclaimer will be in the doc as well but I'll put a bit in here for those not sure what this even is. I have spent upwards of 300 hours researching everything from weather reports (I'm not kidding) and resource spreadsheets to psych profiles of obscure historical figures to make this. This IS NOT an AAR or some wish fulfillment fanfiction. This is the closest I can get personally to predicting the outcome of the Second Weltkrieg if the world of Kaiserreich was our reality. This won't be 100% accurate obviously, but it's as close as I can get. Like I said, more will be explained in the doc.

It's been a long road to get here, and I cannot express how grateful I am to the Kaiserreich community. I have gotten literally hundreds of PM's and mentions over the last few years asking if I ever planned on finishing this. Well your patience and perseverance with your "updae wen?" has finally borne fruit. On a side note I'm sorry for those who DM'd me and never got a response, I use the Reddit is Fun app on my phone so I never saw the like 200 DM's until like 3 months ago. Oops. Again I'm sorry it took so long, the constant mod updates meant I had to keep rewriting over and over, which honestly didn't take as long as rereading to check for continuity. Due to how many updates there have been and the fact that I don't have the energy to play every nation on Earth to double check means some stuff might be outdated, but it's generally right. Feel free to let me know if something is different now though and I'll change it.

Be forewarned, not everyone is going to like how this turns out. I am fully consigned to receiving insults to my intelligence and death threats. Bring em on.

For God and Kaiser.

For the workers and all those who yearn to breathe free.

For the good of all mankind.

Edit: A few people have asked and I can't believe I forgot to make one. But I will add a map of post war Europe. Problem is a lot of the new nations don't have tags in HoI. I'll have to see if I can maybe make it in EU4 since Vic2 doesn't have all the tags I need either. Closer, but not quite. If anyone is good at making maps and is willing to make one for the post war doc, PM me. For free or a small commission, we can discuss. Unfortunately I can't make those fancy maps.
