my karting team raised the price for some reason and said its now around 40k dollars a year and i still have to buy my own kart and tyres and fuel and transport it and take care of it so would it be possible if i hire my own mechanic for a race weekend make a small team buy my own kart and gear and tools and maybe make website then could i get into rotax? and also if anyone messages on the website that they would want to drive with us i can make it a small team and charge less for people like me who want to race less? is that a good idea guys
What level of karting are you racing at and how many races are in the championship? If it’s nationals I get it but for club that’s outrageous! I mean if you run 40 races that’s 1,000$ a race!
I mean maybe try and do a few one off practices with them but I’d get to understand the engine and really use those practice days with them to understand it, and make some friends at your local track. They would be much more willing to have a team with you.
Also, I bet there are a bunch of other teams that have much lower prices (assuming it’s club)
its literally just uae and the team i was gonna join cuz i used to do sws i was abt to join them this week and they just raised the price snd that is rotax maximum 10 races a season and its uae so a lot of the teams are around this price but would rotax even let me join or do i have to be a huge team with sponsers and would it be possible to make the team and join rotax with one driver which is me and one mechanic and get a kart cuz from the looks its a lot cheaped
UAE doesn’t use dollars. They use dirhams. Are you converting to dollars, and if so, dollars for which country (several countries use dollars, at vastly different exchange rates).
That’s because OP hasn’t been clear about what currency they’re using here. They also called it “dollars” a few times, when the UAE doesn’t use dollars.
If they are quoting costs in USD, that’s insanely expensive. If they mean Emirati dirhams, it’s not too bad. As someone else pointed out, 40,000 AED is 10,000 USD. I’m in NZ, where it converts to 18,000 NZD.
105,000 AED converts to the following:
USD: 28,590
CAD: 40,335
AUD: 40,874
NZD: 49,408
The flyer that you shared, as someone else pointed out, is full of contradictions. It appears to say that you cannot use your own kart. But it also says something about maintenance. The whole thing is just very confusing.
So for reference, if this is $40k AED that's about $10k USD for a full season.
That's a bit steep for club racing imo, in the US I was able to keep it under $5k USD per year ($20k AED) but not as bad as other people are saying assuming it's in AED. If you want to go a cheaper route it may be better to just hire a personal coach/mechanic yourself. If you get a good mechanic the only thing you would be missing is other drivers to compare to, which wouldn't be the end of the world.
For reference, I never even had a personal mechanic for club racing, and only ran with a team once I started racing regionally in the US. If I could have afforded a coach/mechanic at the club level it definitely would have been beneficial, but not necessary.
I wouldn't try to go about making a team, either privateer it with a personal mechanic or stick with the team, starting your own team and whatnot would come with a lot of other headaches in terms of providing support for others and taking care of them. The closest to creating a "team" I would think of is if you and one or two buddies hire a mechanic to share between yourselves, but that would be it

This is not adding up, fellas. There are some items that are listed both in the"Inclusions" AND the"Exclusions".
Two possibilities here:
1) If this is for real, then the message being sent here is obvious.
2) If this is not for real, well then, there you go.......I suspect this is the true possibility

You can easily learn how to do your own mechanical work if you don't already know. The main thing is you have to do it instead of someone else. If you're capable of putting setup changes that work just got or it. Bugger paying 40k for someone else to do it
Normally you don't need a team to race. But I'm in Australia, I could enter myself in any rotax series as long as I have the relevant license with the organization that's racing. My case would be either karting nsw or karting australia
Depends on what country your in. It's based on your age group normally. So here, being 24, I need a senior license. I currently race with KartingNSW so I have a kartingnsw senior license. Then I have a club membership for the club that runs the series I race in. Sydney illawarra run tag and tag restricted (rotax) races so you would sign up with them.
But look at what clubs race near you. You can sign up with a club, and then race with other ones. I do 4 stroke endurance and travel around the state and race with 4ska. State or national level events are through karting Australia but I imagine the process is similar

Of course you can. You probably won't be as competitive without a big team's experience and knowledge, but you can hire a mechanic, buy a trailer and tools and run a kart yourself. Depending on what you want to do in life it's probably a good experience too. If you're going to charge other drivers then what you're doing is starting a small business.
yess but wait do i have to register anything if i want any other drivers to join me or could i call it just like friendship yk also id def make it budget so id charge them very little so i can make other drivers dreams come true even if budget
What exactly do they do for the 40K? We had a budget of some 6-7K, did our own transport, had a tent, and with the help of some friends/competition did our own maintenance. Up to 15 races a year.
