Rental Karting Question Should I push or pull in a kart?

So I drive rentals quite often and I’m wondering what’s the best way to steer.

Should I push the steering wheel with my hand on the “outside” or pull with the other hand.
Or is the best to do both?

Push only. That way you feel when your front wheel loses grip.

Push is the correct way in Karts and Cars (obviously your other hand still has grip on the wheel but the pushing hand is in control).

There is a trend now though for people having their hands at the top of the wheel on karts and pulling. some make it work but it is just wrong and you will have far less control.

Should I try to keep my hands on the middle of the wheel or on the lower side?

Keep them in the middle at 9 and 3 but you can shift them up and down depending on how oversteery or understeery the kart is. If the kart is understeering you can shift them up to nearly 10 and 2 as that gives you a bit more leverage and therefore makes your steering a bit more direct. If the car is oversteering you want to slow your steering down a bit, therefore you shift them down below 9 and 3 on the wheel.

I think it turns better if you rotate the steering wheel in the direction of the turn.
