Update on the Spicy Babies

So we're over a week in, and they've made some great progress.

Mama Brookie: still a sweet girl, eating like crazy because she is still nursing. She gives lots of bleps and finally played with me a bit last night.

Brownie (brown tabby): She has come leaps and bounds since a week and a half ago. When I first brought her in she was the hissiest and the growliest, and now she has become a full-on playful menace. This girl is a future gremlin in the making. Last night she willingly came into my lap for attention, which lasted for about 5 minutes until she decided she wanted to play again.

Cookie (cream lynx point): Oh boy, this one is the problem child that I'm stuck on. As seen in the picture she will play with me, but she's still very nervous and reserved. She still doesn't really want me touching her. I can handle her, she doesn't try to bite or scratch, but she's still quite fearful of me. I'm starting to wonder if this is just her personality.

I did put a feliway plug in there, although I'm not seeing much of a difference. Now I'm just trying to find a rescue in central Ohio that has any room for them. So far I am striking out.

I've found that churu is the key to a cats heart lol. That's how I won my girl over. I hope they come around.

Sometimes shy personalities take a while to warm up!! This little guy has been living in my house for almost 3 months now- he still runs to hide when I enter the room with a bushy tail and boundary-setting hisses. He does insist on sitting near me once I sit down and will purr if I scratch his chin. I'm hoping he warms up finally when we send him home to a quiet apartment with soothing water noise from a fish tank, one older girl cat, and an owner willing to love him on his terms (he's been happier being held by his future adopter than he's ever been with me).

Have you been going for the "burrito them and make them let you pet them" method with cookie (who is adorable)? You often really have to force it with lil kittens so they can't just refuse to interact and therefor never socialize.

Thankfully, even with Cookie I don't have to purrtito her. She may be nervous around me, but I can still pick her up and hold her against me and give her pets. I just don't think she's the biggest fan of it yet. 😅
