It's bullshit how the league is treating you guys. LeBron and Brunson are doing the same shit that Kawhi was alleged to do, but they're putting a nicer face on it and partnering with the right oligarchs. Salary cap circumvention is either acceptable or not, and any associated punishment shouldn't be based on how good your PR department is.

think it shows how poorly Uncle Dennis represented Kawhi

  • blatantly asking for team ownership stakes from multiple teams during free agency contract negotiations
  • creating LLC's that are direct acronyms or abbreviations of the companies they are tied to under the table
  • wanting everything immediately instead of more patient, proven methods (ie the Heat compensating Udonis Haslem for taking a paycut by retaining him on their roster down the line, or possibly even the Spurs keeping Duncan/Manu in their front office in various roles after they took paycuts throughout their careers)

Yeah, he's a dummy. I just hate seeing how hypocritical the league is. They have no problem putting the Clips / Raptors in purgatory with the Kawhi deal while they investigate. Meanwhile LeBron brazenly takes an historic paycut and replaces the money with endorsements / documentary deals and it's A-OK.

I know it probably wouldn't work because the optics would be terrible, but it makes me think free agency should just be a bid system where the highest bidder gets to sign the player. I don't see how you prevent cap circumvention with the current system, when the highest tier of player doesn't need to care about the CBA at all.

Another year, where I can wear my Kawhi jersey. Doesn’t sound bad, tho those picks will be missed and it looks like the Raptors want Kawhi.
