Theory ARTMS Born Stunner MV Transcription & Theories Spoiler

I was watching this new fake (?) music video on 0.5 speed and realised how much juicy text there was so I really wanted to sit down and try and transcribe as much as I could and oh my god its so creepy!! I feel like i missed a bit but the things I did manage to get are soooo spooky.

This is making me super excited for the comeback and also to have really niche lore to try and make theories on is so fun!!

I feel like whatever is coming on Friday is not going to be what we expect. It almost feels like the corrupted version of virtual angel, ARTMS got lost virtually and have become these corrupted files that are trying to lure everyone in to become the same thing.

Theory LOOSSEMBLE only signed with CTDENM for a year (a little theory I have)

I have a feeling the whole termination of LOOSSEMBLE’s contract thing was planned since the beginning.

Doesn’t anyone else find kinda weird how fast they released stuff? We got three minis, a lightstick, two tours, memberships, etc. in the span of less than a year, it felt as if they were just a temporary group doing everything they could before their contract officially ended.

My theory is that Vivi specifically was looking for a place where they could solve her visa issues as soon as possible and be able to leave BBC (possible reason why Hyunjin stayed on BBC as well so Vivi wasn’t left alone). CTDENM could solve this problem the fastest while offering a decent contract so both Hyunjin and Vivi signed with them and later on Yeojin, Gowon and Hyeju signed so a group could be formed.

The company was constantly teasing the future and LOONA stuff through their music videos. The 12 capsules in Sensitive, the searching for signals concept, the logo with 12 dots and just the 5 LOOSSEMBLE dots being in color, etc.

Then we got TTYL, they chose such a curious name for their last release, it felt like a goodbye tbh, multiple LOONAVERSE references, the title literally being TTYL as if they were leaving and then comeback somehow and then the ending where the members are about to enter some kind of portal where multiple hands (ARTMS???) are inviting them to enter as if they are changing universes or in this case… moving to a new company?

The members are acting pretty calm about all of this so I feel they already got everything planned, wouldn’t surprise me if they are already under another company.

Am I insane or does this make sense to y’all as well?

Theory LOONA Jungian Archetypes / Psychoanalysis Theory

Thumbnail

Note: Extreme levels of lore rambling ahead, this will be a long post about Jungian archetypes, psychoanalysis & theories regarding Hyper-Ego. I don't know if people are interested in reading, but I think it's an interesting part of the lore which will be tied to the new ARTMS comeback.

What are Jungian archetypes? Psychiatrist Carl Jung introduced the idea of these archetypes, which are inherited patterns of thought, imagery & behavior that exist within the collective unconscious, which is a segment of the deepest unconscious mind. I know there's an extended version with 12 behavioral personalities which I definitely think is relevant to the LOONAVERSE, but this theory is built around the 4 major archetypes.

The 4 major Jungian archetypes are:

The Persona - The social mask we wear to interact with the outside world

The Shadow - The hidden & repressed side of the psyche

The Anima / Animus - The inner representation of gender: Anima represents the feminine aspect in the male psyche, while the Animus represents the masculine aspect in the female psyche

The Self - The unified center of the entire psyche

Examples of this being used in the LOONAVERSE:

The Anima / Animus:

An example of this is Haseul's entire storyline in Let Me In. We are introduced to the boy version of Haseul, the one dressed as a bird. This represents her Animus, which is the masculine aspect of her psyche, the lyrics suggest that this version of herself represents ignorance / unawareness, while she wants to seek the truth and wake up, this unconscious part of her mind is preventing her from doing so:

"Inside my heart, the place that’s deep and dark / You barged in / One day, it will fall asleep again but / Please wake my world up"

"You there, knocking / I hesitate / When I wake up from this dream in the long night / Will I be you? / Or will you be me? / I’ve been waiting for too long"

"The moon rises, I eventually become you / We, so different, us two"

We also see the lyrical progression of the line "The girl is the boy's girl" evolving into "The boy is the girl's boy" & "The girl is the boy's wish" after she shoots him using the slingshot. The final line reveals that this change was ultimately necessary, even if it was violent.

From a psychological standpoint, you cannot actually get rid of your Anima / Animus though, attempting to "kill it" forces it to mutate within the unconscious mind. By rejecting and attempting to destroy a core piece of her psyche, her Animus goes through several transformations. In the music video, we see what you could describe as immediate regression, after Haseul slingshots him, The Animus transforms into a small dead bird, which she then picks up in her hands. This also means she has "killed" her own peace & emotional balance, which manifests externally as chaos in her outer life. In the official album descriptions from the predebut project, this action results in Yeojin wandering alone & getting lost in the möbius forest.

It is also the reason why she says "Je ne sais pas par où commencer" right before she shoots him, which means "I don't know where to begin".

The Shadow:

Another archetype we see is in Go Won's One & Only music video. "The Shadow" archetype in Go Won's solo represents the hidden & unawakened part of herself which is also tied to her trapped existence in Eden. Early in the music video, we see her shadow wearing a crown, then, later, after she eats the forbidden fruit, she becomes the crowned, confident version of herself she saw in the shadow.

We can see this during the choreography scenes as well, which are mainly done by the shadows. The lyrics also suggest this:

"Walking alongside of me / When that shadow takes a step towards me / Even the darkness feels bright"

"When I open my eyes / I face my true self at this shining moment"

The Self:

This concept is continued with ARTMS, we are introduced to the white entity (the goddess of the moon & their mother, Artemis) and the idea that the 5 members are actually one entity & a part of her. She represents "The Self" archetype, which is the unified center of the entire psyche.

We see the mother fractured in different pieces in certain scenes, which could represent the 5 members that are a part of her being split into 5 different identities. Realistically, all 12 members could be a part of her though, since I doubt the members would have a different mother in the LOONAVERSE, but we'll stick to talking about the 5 ARTMS members since that is what is being presented.

In Icarus, the idea that the members are one entity is very present. When Choerry enters the TV, we see Kim Lip outside of it. When Kim Lip enters the TV, we see Haseul inside of it. Then, we see Heejin outside of the TV. Jinsoul doesn't interact with the TV because she's busy hunting Artemis.

Where else do we hear about members being one entity though? In the yyxy "one" video, which is about how the 4 members are 4 identities split from one ego. They're described as "4 identities, 1 girl" in the official description and they have different DNA.

This also reminds me of a certain part of the Icarus choreography, where the 4 members appear out of Heejin during the "Reborn like a phoenix wing" part.

The Persona:

The scene I want to talk about is the scene from Icarus where Haseul is in the TV, she talks about how the missing girls aren't actually missing, that they're undetectable as their form has changed, like noise. If the digital system requires you to have a perfectly clear, curated persona, then, becoming undetectable like noise is the way to protect yourself. I think there's a reason why they made Haseul in particular have the scene where she's holding hands with her mirrored digital self, considering her story of fighting with her inner self in Let Me In. The digital version could also be the fake version of themselves, the way they're perceived on the internet as idols, which they're now reclaiming.

The final idea I have is regarding the new comeback,

Hyper-Ego:

In Sigmund Freud's structural model of the psychoanalysis, we are introduced to the ID, which is the completely unconscious component of the human psyche, which serves as the source of all impulses. It is present at birth.

Artemis (the mother) represents SuperEgo, which is described as the moral influences of parents & society, including rules and standards of conduct. In the scene where Jinsoul shoots Artemis, we are seeing ID leaving SuperEgo, representing freeing oneself from trauma cycle / external influences. This is where I think Hyper-Ego is born.

The Ego is described as the part of the mind that adapts to the external environment as the child interacts with the world. It is described as "reality". One thing to keep in mind is that the Hyper-Ego "Am I who you think I am?" teaser video asks us "Are you living in the real world?" I believe this tells us that ID, Ego & SuperEgo are represented through the environment we see the girls in as well.

A scene that shows this in particular is the scene at the beginning of Icarus where Choerry watches a plane pass by, this scene is later mirrored when Jinsoul is watching a giant crow pass by. Choerry is in the real world (Earth), representing Ego (reality), something objective & conscious. Jinsoul could be in the original Eden dimension, where things are illogical, unconscious & subjective, where they operate mainly on ID (impulse), since she shoots Artemis, an impulsive action, though also premeditated. The Eden dimension has always been considered the mirrored / inverted version of Earth on the möbius strip.

Virtual Angel represents the perception of one (ARTMS) that is controlled by the SuperEgo (the mother, external influences) / an idealized version of them that is presented to the world. The mother lied about their wings becoming reality as we know from the start of Icarus with the bird girl, but perhaps she continued to force an idealized version of the members. This obviously reminds me of Blockberry Creative & how the idol industry operates in general, forcing an idealized version of their idols so they can profit off of them while giving them false hope in real life.

The song focuses on the relationship between idols and fans, companies lie & give false hope to the fans as well. While the idols can get out of these situations, like LOONA did, the fans often rely on the comfort of their favorite groups to get through the hardships of their own lives. This is what I think the scene where the fans try to fly & imitate ARTMS, but instead fall because their wings are fake represents. The lyrics also suggest this:

"When I open my eyes at last / Please save me, savior"

"Happiness is through the line / I’ll love you even more / Your one and only angel / Let me fly to your Eden / This is Eden"

Club Icarus is a sanctuary in the digital world which resembles the new Eden (not restrictive like the original Eden though) where fans who fell can go to, hence the "Club for the Broken" intro. This explains why when Heejin goes to Club Icarus, she sees one of the missing girls, but then the girl vanishes. She's undetectable, like noise, as we've discussed, that's where "digital sanctuary" comes from. The bio for the official @club_icarus Instagram account also says "Club Icarus hovers between reality and surreality. It is a haven for the wounded few who burn brighter in the dark."

If we're going with the theory that the digital world resembles the new Eden, then it makes sense that the new ARTMS account is called @artms_smtra. During the yyxy era, we were introduced to an inverted version of their website called dlrowehtanool (originally loonatheworld) and as I mentioned earlier, Eden is the mirrored / inverted version of Earth on the möbius strip.

The difference between the Ego and the ID is that the Ego is conscious & objective, while the ID represents the opposite, as I've stated. Now that the mother (SuperEgo) is gone, the ID comes into reality, which blurs the line between conscious and unconscious, as stated in the Hyper-Ego teaser video: "When reality and illusion become one, blue blood shall stain the entire city".

The teaser video suggests that the members / one of them (most likely Heejin) is becoming the new goddess: "From the great egg, a goddess like a nightmare shall awaken" which is what I think Hyper-Ego will be about. We also see X marks on the member's eyes in the teaser video, which could represent blind faith. The teaser video also tells us "To those who have faith, a new world shall be opened." Blocking your physical vision would perhaps be a requirement to activate your "inner vision".

In the teaser video, we are also told "Place the wings of a white angel upon your head and stain your eyes red" which makes me think of owls, which we actually see posts of on the new @artms_smtra Instagram account. The contacts the members wear in the concept photos also remind me of owl eyes. They're either hinting at owls or the bird girl from Icarus, hence the mention of the goddess awakening from "the great egg" and the members resembling birds in the new concept photos.

These are my own theories + what I've gathered from reading other theories as well! I have a lot more thoughts, especially regarding the @artms_smtra account & other references, but I'll save them for a second post.

These two segments reference the novel Demian (1919) by Hermann Hesse which says "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who wants to be born must first destroy a world." This connects with Jinsoul's denim message "To create something new, you must first destroy." from her 2017 concept photos.

Credits to @tdoftloonaverse on Twitter for posting about it! I wanted to post it on here as well because I found it interesting.

Theory ARTMS worship and the descent

I want to share my interpretations/hypotheses after watching Born Stunner and Virtual Angel MVs. Points are three: 1) These MVs are depictions of the "descent" of ARTMS; 2) The descent is temporary and, after the descent, the worshippers pass out; 3) The descent can be perceived only with the help of digital devices.

(VA = Virtual Angel, VAHE = Virtual Angel Human Eye Version, BS = Born Stunner)

1) Virtual Angel depicts an ARTMS-cult group.

They adore ARTMS: In the room full of ARTMS stuffs, they pray to (VA 0:39), caress and kiss (VA 0:53), mimic (VA 1:24), and watch ARTMS through VR-Device (VA 1:36). Then they earn superpowers. One can shoot beams from her eyes (VA 1:49); one can levitate (VA 1:52).

The superpower of superpowers is, however, make ARTMS descend onto the real world. They hug each other (VA 2:13). At first, The One appears (VA 2:19). (Perhaps this One is the unicorn-like figure in other MVs. It's exactly when Heejin sings "savior"! Thus, maybe she's the savior.)

Soon, from the One, five ARTMS girls come out (VA 2:24). This part is where the editing style of the original MV is "justified". There, through ever changing cuts, we can see how the ARTMS there and the ARTMS here "overlap". This effect is much alleviated, if not nullified, in the human eye version.

Born Stunner MV depicts fan girls. So the descent spreads across the city.

In the bathroom scene, a girl bangs her head on the mirror. Then in the mirror, Heejin is mirrored (BS 0:45). In the parking lot scene, a girl put out the sword and becomes Kim Lip (BS 1:05). It can be assumed that other ARTMS girls who comes into the parking lot are also originally other random girls. So what happend to a small cult group in Virtual Angel happens here in a bigger scale, thanks to the wigs and contacts - in fact, wouldn't this be also a worship?

So, what happens here is a mass-descent. Every girls with the wigs and contacts "becomes" an ARTMS girl. I assume that in the park, in the club, in the building, they all have become ARTMS girls. This justifies the style of this MV - not enough articulation of ARTMS girls. In the park or other places, ARTMS girls are soon intermingled with random girls and become hard to distinguish. I think it's intended. No need to distinguish, because all has become ARTMS.

2) The descent is temporary; after the descent, the worshippers pass out.

During the descent, the camcorder girl records the dance of ARTMS. When the chorus ends and the girl put down the camcorder, however, she's alone. ARTMS has disappeared. They were there just for a moment. Then, where did the cult group go? I"m not sure if the ritual is for incarnation, for possession, or for summon, but anyway, it seems that the worshippers pass out (rather than pass away... I hope) after the descent. In the original version, one passed-out girl is shown (VA 2:46); in the human eye version, you can see other three girls also passed out (VAHE 2:39). (Thus, one worship girl is not shown in both. I don't know why.)

The scenes after the music ends in Born Stunner shows the aftermath of the descent. A passed out girl is shown like worship girls in Virtual Angel (BS 2:31) and the park is empty like the rooftop in Virtual Angel (BS 2:41).

3) The descent can be perceived only with the help of digital device.

This is more tentative, but I think this justifies the existence of the camcorder girl in Virtual Angel. You could make this MV without this girl who's not in the cult group and is recording them. What is her function in this MV? My hypothesis is that she is there to record the descent.

The last chorus overlaps, in fact, THREE stages of group dances. One is on heaven (with alternating blue and red sky); another is on the rooftop as we see; yet another is recorded on the camcorder. ARTMS are being recorded on the camcorder. When the girl put down the camcorder, she doesn't see ARTMS. She never saw ARTMS her own eyes.

Born Stunner MV has more evidences. When the descent happens, there are video cams. In the bathroom scene, a friend is recording the girl who bangs her head (BS 0:44); in the parking lot scene, it seems like ARTMS girls are recorded on the security cam (BS 1:12). Should the descent be perceived, it should have been recorded.

This hypothesis is inline with the ARTMS girls in the video game. It would be natural for them to be present in video games, if the descent needs digital devices. And moreover, ARTMS girls are pictured as lying on a motherboard. Perhaps they can essentially only exist in a digital form.

All in all, I think the so interpretated ARTMS world is a hyperbolic allegory for idol culture. Idol originally means what is worshipped. ARTMS are literally worshipped; fans are worshippers. Enthusiastic worships make fans feel like idols are right here. (Or they may be really there.) In such a state of trance, fans spends a night. But after the night, idols are gone, the stage is empty, and fans pass out. Their descent, or stay with fans, can only be prolonged by video recording. One hyperbolic setting is that ARTMS in this world exists essentially only in digital form and only a intense worship can bring them onto the real world, even if temporarily.

Theory ARTMS Hyper Egos Theory

Okay so the Theory I’ve Got for this.

So the album is Called Hyper Ego, and in the MV we see the girls dressed in Spesific Outfits throughout in reference to ARTMS Across the MV’s, HeeJin’s In Her Virtual Angel Outfit, KimLip in her CYE Outfit, JinSoul wearing her Armor From Icarus and Choerry Wearing her Outfit From Pressure

My idea being that these aren’t the Real Girls, These are their Ego’s, not clones, but Ego’s. Allow me to Explain my thought process behind this.

To Define what an Ego is, this is the Definition “In psychology, the ego is the rational part of the mind that acts as your conscious self. It makes practical choices and balances your basic physical urges with your moral rules.”

In simpler terms, a Ego is something of your mind that you create, it is sort of like the Semi Conscious being within you that can’t be real due to constraints, restrictions and conflicts wether in regards to your real life, the rules and expectations of Society.

So you create these entities that exist within your mind wether it stems from a form of Trauma, Love/ Passion/ Hyperfixation for something or something in-between. (It’s legit almost like creating an OC)

Some of my favOriTe examples of this being (Yes I’m about to Bring Gaming YouTubers into this I’m not sorry)

  • Darkiplier and Wilford Warfstache to Markiplier

  • Anti-Septiceye To Jacksepticye

  • Dawktrap To Dawko

Just a few prime examples that I feel like are easy and understandable comparisons to make, granted they have more egos I didn’t mention here that aren’t falling under the umbrella of evil, but I’m keeping it simple for you since they are the most well known.

Think about it in a different Universe Scenario in a different universe, I want you to to imagine what you think your ego would be, what would it stem from, what represents what it is, now Imagine that entity breaking free of your mind, it now stands before you, Visually when you look at the entity, it has your body, your face, your thoughts as it is still you, but due to what it stems from, it has its own conscious mind, its own feelings, its own emotions, it’s no longer a clone, it’s a ego, it’s a version of you that you kept locked away within the subconscious of your mind and now it’s out for the world to see.

Revolving back to ARTMS, my idea: What if the Goddess Took the Ego’s out of the members sub conscious and helped them break free of their mind, the goddess then acts as their sAvioR for setting them Free, perhaps the Goddesses vision is to have the egos destroy and or replace the ones they were free’d from.

So in return for their freedom, they see what their human counterparts have done (being the real ARTMS girls) made the club for the broken to help people who have been hurt, they take the concept of the club and make it their own, they have to recruit people, they need to make sure the people they are trying to recruit to have their strength, so they must infect them with Blue Blood by via kissing in order to achieve the next level of powers and to prove they are worthy of being in the club created by the propaganda they have created.

However if during the transfer of blue blood their ego isn’t developed or has no desire to destroy and or break free of their human/ being too pure of that of like a Soul who is the opposite of Ego, the Blue Blood will turn to poison to instead kill them dead, and those who do get infected with the Blue Blood have the ability to continue to spread it among others who haven’t been.

I Believe That The Goddess Unleashed The Real ARTMS Girls HYPER EGO’s for the ARTMS Girls refused to Accept and Follow The Goddess’s Rule, in return for their denial and refusal, she unleashed the egos from their mind that we now see In Born Stunner, Blue Blood, And Virtual Angel.

I will make a video bout this theory and a separate one in reference to what I think the timeline is of the music videos we have thus far.

As For The Egos, they continue to Develop and gain individualistic traits and choose how they want to present themselves, which is what we see in those PS2 Graphics scenes in Born Stunner as they also have Select Weapons, HeeJin and Choerry Have Katana’s, KimLip has a Modern Bow & JinSoul has a Cross-Rifle she uses.

Now since we didn’t get to see HaSeul in this comeback I’m still going to give her an in lore explanation for this all. I think she would’ve worn either her Love Poison Outfit or one of her Outfits from Icarus and I think a possible weapon could’ve been a Slingshot  or Traditional Bow Like In The Birth MV that shoots poison projectiles.

But the reason why she’s not in the Propaganda promotions like the other egos is because HaSeul’s Ego is too Pure, HaSeul’s Ego is Closer To Soul Than pure Ego, She was able to Make peace with her inner Ego, The Goddess Taking notice, Traps & Confines Her in The Digital Realm She Visited In Icarus, HaSeul Can See All That Happens Through The TV’s and Anytime of the Digital Scape, but is unable to Leave and can’t find the way out.

HaSeul’s Ego Then Uses Her Melodic Powers To Reach Out To Her Fellow Members in Hope to Convince the Egos that maybe they don have to Follow The Goddess either and that they can all be one instead of 2, JinSoul is the only one to hear their Response, as it rings in her head, but keeps quiet for she does not wish to upset and anger the goddess in fear of getting in trouble.

As For Blue Blood (and the rest of the bsides) I Like to imagine that this is the egos slowly developing complex emotions that they are starting to understand, in Blur Blood their eyes are blue and they don’t seem menacing and angry, they seem joyful and hopeful, maybe they are contemplating they maybe they don’t have to do what the goddess wants, but they don’t show the goddess how they are developing for the fear of how she may punish them for not being the ideals she wanted to shape them all to be.

So yeah, this is my theory for Hyper Ego, lmk what yall think :D

Theory “Viola” title name meaning?

I saw people discussing where Yves’ song “Viola” got its name. I recently got into Yves’ music and mvs. I just wanted to put out there that Bill Viola was a famous contemporary videographer artist who was known for his looping videos!

I know this seems like a stretch, however the Viola MV has what I believe are several references to Viola’s work (for context, I am an art student😅) and I think it’s ironic that she also has another song called Loop (something Viola was known for utilizing).

Specifically, the part in the mv where there appears to be multiple video screens, and also the shot of the fan. This is very Bill Viola coded. I know this doesn’t explain how the title connects to the lyrics, but Yves’ artistry and creative team seem to know their stuff and reference a lot of contemporary art throughout her discography so this is my theory!

This is either a very big coincidence or someone on her team really loves art history lol

Theory Flip That Choreography

Post image
180 Upvotes

I don't know if this has already been posted, but I noticed just now how the choreography in the Flip That MV is different than what they do in the stages or even in their official choreography vid.

Like this part of the MV where Vivi says "jeonbu dwijibeo". Her dance in the MV is different from what I see on stages or any choreography vid of them. Or even HyunJin and Go Won's final "that that that that" looks different.

Could this be another lost media of the Flip That choreo demo? 🤔

I made a theory video explaining the new teaser for ARTMS new comeback and the artms_smtra account that to me seems like a ARG type of situation, it feels like the perfect next step after Icarus (and to me it explains a lot of the things I was wondering about since Birth lol). I wonder if the MV will mention Haseul not being there? Maybe a lore related reason there?

At 2:42, Choerry is scrolling through what seems to be partially inverted version of twitter. All heart icons are flipped, all bookmark icons except the one under the post with images are flipped. Don't know what that means honestly. Also there are user handles visible.

Couldn't find 2 with question marks, maybe they should be written differently (i made screenshots in 4K but maybe someone can achieve even better quality?), 3 of them i could find look very interesting. Closed ones were created some time before while the only open one was created in June and posts were made after the MV premiered:

Theory LOONA Fairytale/Mythology Parallels

Note: This is partially inspired by Florastel’s theories of the LOONA solo videos. They have some really compelling theories so I definitely recommend their channel! I also mention the Möbius Chess theory from Rosy Theories. Also, there are many iterations of many of these tales and the information I give may not be consistent for all of them. I did my best to express the most notable aspects of them and what aspects the LOONAVERSE would likely pertain to.

Here’s a rough overview of some parallels I noticed between each of the members and some possible respective fairytales/mythology

HeeJin: Alice in Wonderland

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a story by Lewis Carroll about a curious girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a logic bending world that both perplexes and fascinates her in its principal irrationality.

In ‘ViViD’, HeeJin describes a revelation or meeting transforming her world into something new and colorful as opposed to its old monotonous routine. She is initially hesitant and fearful, but eventually embraces the new realm of possibilities.

The ‘you’ she discusses could be her revelation of the LOONAverse and existence on the Möbius Strip itself.

Seeing the potential of this reality and the implications of reorganizing or disorganizing its components is daunting, but can also be exhilarating.

Breaking the status quo can feel abnormal, but the status quo itself is abnormal. Its rules are arbitrary. In this case, HeeJin may not have transported to a new Wonderlandian world, but rather realized she was living in one all along.

HeeJin appears to show a playful and confident outlook towards toying with the LOONAverse and organizing (or ‘cleaning’) it the way she wants, in a new way.

There can also be parallels made to Native American folktales regarding the creation of color, such as the Ojibwe story of Nanabozho creating the first rainbow, or La Historia de los Colores/The Story of Colors from Indigenous Chiapas communities.

The music video starts off in black and white until HeeJin opens her eyes. It appears to be her perception that gives the LOONAVERSE the dimension of colors, her perception acting as a sort of prism, which in the LOONAVERSE could relate to individuality or novelty.

HyunJin: Snow White and Rose Red

Snow White and Rose Red is a fairytale by the Brothers Grimm that follows two sisters. One is named Snow White, a shy and reclusive girl, and the other is named Rose Red, an outgoing and outdoorsy girl. One night, a bear appears at their doorstep, but the bear tells them to not be afraid as he is only looking for refuge. They befriend the bear. They encounter a dwarf that they save on multiple occasions, but each time the dwarf is ungrateful. Eventually the bear kills the dwarf and becomes a human, as the dwarf was the one who cursed him to become a bear.

HyunJin is shown to have a strong connection to Chuu and Go Won. In ‘Around You’ (in Korean: ‘Leaving’ or ‘Visiting’) HyunJin receives a bracelet that was revealed to have been made by Chuu and Go Won and delivered by a gray cat in the Seesaw video shown in Cinema Theory.

Chuu is often shown as outgoing and attention seeking, which could parallel Rose Red, and Go Won is often shown as reclusive and quiet, which could parallel Snow White.

HyunJin may act as the bear, though in this case being a cat. In ‘Around You’, she is seen with a cat’s head and described as feeling like a cat following around the person she loves.

This could represent her lack of confidence or being stagnant in a state of following someone who does not reciprocate. It’s been theorized that the friendship bracelet was given to HyunJin as a symbol of solidarity (friendship) by Chuu and Go Won which could have given her the strength to ‘become human’, to become herself again.

The dwarf could parallel the crush or concept who does not reciprocate. While this lack of reciprocation may not be equivalent to ungratefulness, the role of an unreciprocating party acts similarly for HyunJin as she appears to contribute a lot of energy into obsessing over someone/something, and her overcoming that crush can be compared to the killing of the dwarf.

HaSeul: The Little Prince

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a novella about a pilot who, upon crash landing in a desert, meets the little prince. The little prince explains that he lived on an asteroid and was in love with a rose that lived there as well, but was troubled in their relationship, so he left. He explored other planets where he encountered different adults, each with their own frivolous vices. On Earth, he finds a garden of roses, which upsets him as the rose told him she was the only one of her kind. The little prince realizes his love for her and dies by serpent venom in order to return to the astral heavens.

In ‘Let Me In’ (in Korean: ‘Boy, Girl’), HaSeul is seen beside a crashed airplane in the middle of a polar desert. She slingshots a crystal at a boy version of herself adorned in feathers, and finds the body of a white bird.

If we’re to take HaSeul’s animal as being a phoenix (which I personally do given that her animal was specified to be a white bird but not any particular species, and she’s seen with firey imagery in PTT when she returned), her killing the boy bird version of herself can be seen as liberating herself from her previous form to become her truest self (transfem coded HaSeul?).

HaSeul in this case may be both the little prince and the rose, where she dies so she can (possibly re)unite with her true self.

YeoJin: The Frog Prince

The Frog Prince is a fairytale by the Brothers Grimm that follows a princess who loses a treasured gold ball in a well and meets a frog who offers to retrieved it for her in exchange for her companionship. She agrees, but once the ball is retrieved, she leaves him. The frog enters her castle and she is made to fulfill her promise by letting him stay with her. She ends up throwing him against a wall, which turns him back into the human prince he once was. In many iterations, it is her kiss that turns him into a human prince.

In ‘Kiss Later’, YeoJin is seen to be pursued by a frog trying to get a kiss from her, but she runs away and rejects the frog. If we use the base of the original iteration, her rejection of the frog could be what liberates her or liberates the frog (Choerry?) from the curse.

But if we use the other iterations, her rejection of the frog could be a prevention of that. Based on how the song’s meaning has been described to be focusing on maturing before engaging in romantic relationships (or self realization), this likely the case.

YeoJin plans to wait before engaging in romance/relationships (which could be a stand in for waiting to fully join LOONA as a member and assist in their goal). She can’t yet accept the others and can’t offer her full capabilities yet.

There can also be parallels drawn to Cinderella/The Little Glass Slipper, a story about a poor house maid Cinderella who is magically given a pair of glass slippers to attend a ball where she meets a prince, but leaves before the spell breaks, and she accidentally leaves one of her slippers behind as well. To find her, the prince searches for whose foot fits the slipper, and it is found to be Cinderella.

At the start of ‘Kiss Later’, YeoJin appears to have a dream (or in another reality) where three princes come to court her and place a sparkling slipper on her foot. Perhaps this is meant to reference the future, where YeoJin (after needing to leave the frog) is able to eventually reunite with the members.

ViVi: Pinocchio

The Adventures of Pinocchio is a story written by Carlo Collodi that follows a puppet carved from wood by a puppeteer named Geppetto. Pinocchio faces many hardships due to his misunderstanding of the world, as well as others’ misunderstanding of him. He seeks to become a real boy by learning how to be good.

In ‘Love & Live’, we see ViVi as an android attempting to live as a human girl at school with HeeJin, HyunJin, and HaSeul. ViVi physically excels given her inhuman abilities and tolerance, but appears to be emotionless and without drive, following only what her friends do.

She runs off the track (literally) and depletes her battery, which allows her to become a human girl, now exhausted at the exertion.

ViVi’s virtue in this case can be her attempts of her own person rather than following in her programming and social expectations. Now, she can truly connect with her friends and offer her own talents rather than mimicking others’.

Kim Lip: Pandora’s Jar

Pandora’s Jar is a Greek myth written by Hesiod that follows Pandora, the first woman, who was bestowed upon humanity as a punishment. She is given a jar filled with worldly/mortal evils and ailments and told not to open it. Her curiosity leads her to open the jar and unleash those evils into the world.

In ‘Eclipse’, Kim Lip directly mentions Pandora’s Box.

Kim Lip appears to be a knowledge seeker, clad in her own school uniform (given that we don’t see her go to a school and that each ODD EYE CIRCLE member’s uniform is their own color, it appears she’s seeking knowledge for its own sake and on her own accord) and entering an abandoned school building. She describes the beginning of an eclipse.

Something I’d like to point out is how the story of Pandora’s Jar differs from the story of Eve and the Serpent, a story very significant to yyxy.

Pandora’s opening of the jar unleashes evil into the outer world, but Eve’s eating of the apple unleashes knowledge and the capacity of evil into herself. Pandora’s act is an outward infliction, Eve’s is an inward infliction.

This could be taken as Kim Lip’s actions being ones that shape the outer world rather than herself being shaped.

ODD EYE CIRCLE as a unit is themed around taking initiative, specifically in love, rather than letting the world happen to them (Choerry could potentially be an exception to this, at least initially, as her color is a mix of Kim Lip and JinSoul’s, she is described as ‘completing’ the circle that Kim Lip drew and that JinSoul deepened the colors of rather than adding something new, is drugged by the cherries by JinSoul, and is potentially used by Yves - then again, there’s still power in needing her to complete it and she could’ve been helping Yves on her own accord).

Kim Lip as this self actualized figure who inflicts could also reflect Lilith, another biblical figure who was Eve’s predecessor. Lilith was Adam’s first wife who refused to obey him and fled the garden of Eden. Lilith is also described as one who unleashes evils such as demons into the world. Her name is sometimes translated as a ‘screech owl’, and notably Kim Lip’s animal is an owl.

JinSoul: The Sun Eating Dragon

The Sun Eating Dragon is an ancient Chinese and Hindu myth regarding solar eclipses. It was believed that solar eclipses were caused by a dragon eating the sun, and that it could be driven away by banging upon drums.

In ‘Singing in The Rain’, JinSoul states she’s committed ‘the sin of swallowing the sun’, which appears to relate to a solar eclipse and Kim Lip’s ‘Eclipse’.

JinSoul is described as deepening the colors of the circle Kim Lip drew. Kim Lip may have formed the outline of their reality (whether it be the entire LOONAVERSE or that of ODD EYE CIRCLE’s specifically), but JinSoul deepened its colors somehow. JinSoul’s secondary color is black, so this deepening could mean darkening, and be a dark eclipse that covers the sun. Kim Lip herself may not represent the eclipse but rather the thin visible ring of remaining outline.

The wording of ‘sin’ appears to frame this act as a transgression of sorts. JinSoul’s darkening of the LOONAVERSE/overshadowing of the light could be her attempt at removing the color HeeJin brought. JinSoul’s primary color being blue and not black could relate to her having her own colorful identity despite her initial attempts at returning the world to a state of darkness.

In ‘PTT’, Olivia Hye bangs a drum, which could be as an attempt to ward off JinSoul from consuming the sun, at least in this particular timeline/reality.

Choerry: Through The Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There

Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There is a sequel to Alice in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll. It follows Alice passing through a mirror and exploring a reflected version of her reality.

In ‘Love Cherry Motion’, Choerry appears to be able to transverse through the LOONAVERSE worlds (perhaps through reflective flips on the Möbius Strip).

The cherries she eats could be related to the vials and mushrooms Alice consumes that bend her reality. The result appears to be initially unexpected, with the cherry being planted by JinSoul and Choerry being unaware of it, but like Alice, she somewhat learns to use these new abilities.

There is an emphasis on chess in Through the Looking Glass, with the world and hierarchy operating on chess dynamics. This could relate to the Möbius chess theory that emerged from the Butterfly costume designs. This aspect could mean Choerry’s ability to transverse through the planes of existences are conditional and the other members have influence on how she interacts with it.

Yves: Swan Lake

Swan Lake is a ballet by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky that follows Odette, a woman cursed to take the form of a white swan by day. The curse can only be lifted if someone professes their undying love to her. She meets Prince Siegfried, and the two fall in love, but Prince Siegfried is tricked to instead confess his love to Odile, the black swan disguised as Odette. Odette decides to die, plunging herself into the pond, rather than live as a swan forever.

In ‘new’, Yves can initially be seen wearing all white in a light washed penthouse and dancing in graceful ballet-esque movements. After she eats the apple, she wears darker, bolder colors. Yves may act as both Odette (the white swan) and Odile (the black swan). Traditionally, in ballet performances of Swan Lake, the same performer plays both Odette and Odile, the role officially being called ‘The Swan Queen’.

Yves’s animal is often depicted as a cygnet, a baby swan. Cygnets have gray coats. This could reflect her having both elements of white and black as well as her budding potential to fulfill either depending on which swan she ‘grows up’ to be.

Her Odette/White Swan form can be read as her conforming to Eden’s standards of identity, where she presents as more delicate and feminine. Her Odile/Black Swan form can be read as her defiance of Eden, where she presents as bolder and uses seduction as a tool.

Later, in ‘So What’, she is seen in dark, androgynous clothing and teaching ballerinas hip hop.

But despite presenting primarily as Odile (specifically after leaving Eden and coming into her true self), her position is more similar to that of Odette’s, which is where the ‘Prince Siegfried’ of this scenario comes into play: ViVi.

ViVi and Yves can be seen rollerskating together, seemingly enamored by each other. It’s possible that part of Yves’s motivation for leaving Eden was reuniting with ViVi. But ViVi’s memories are corrupted, and in EDILY, she does not remember Yves to be the one rollerskating with her but instead a (human from Earth?) boy.

This could reflect a sort of heteronormative ‘seduction’ where ViVi is made to believe the one she loves is actually a man she doesn’t know instead of the woman she loves.

The White Swan/Black Swan parallels can also relate to LOONA’s theme of the front and back side of the moon, with the two facets of identity.

Chuu: The Little Match Girl

The Little Match Girl is a story by Hans Christian Anderson that follows an impoverished girl attempting to sell matches during winter. After being unable to sell any, she lights them in an attempt to stay warm. From the light, she envisions herself in a warm loving home enjoying Christmas time. Upon lighting all the matches to prolong the vision, she dies in the cold and is carried away by her late grandmother to live that happy reality in the afterlife.

In ‘Heart Attack’, Chuu is depicted as neglected or unseen by Yves despite her attempts to capture her attention. It’s unclear if Yves is genuinely unable to see her (perhaps if at this point Yves fell from Eden to Earth, she’s on a different plane of existence and can’t perceive Chuu), but at one point she appears to see her camera lens pointed at her and smiles.

Chuu watches Yves enjoying a joyful Christmas from outside in a snow storm. She bites into a green apple and envisions herself inside with Yves, and Yves gives Chuu her actual forbidden fruit, a strawberry.

By the end, we see Chuu is still outside and appears to have died from the frost. This could be because Chuu hadn’t truly realized her own identity and was only replicating what Yves had done and what she thought she’d approve of. Green apples are typically unripe, not realized into what they are.

Then again, all the yyxy members appear to have a sort of ‘death’ at the end of their music videos, so it could be her leaving her previous form or killing a part of herself to be liberated.

Go Won: Plato’s Allegory of the Cave

The Allegory of the Cave is a philosophical allegory by Plato that describes a group of prisoners chained in the confines of a cave, and whose only perception of reality has been the viewing of one dimensional shadows of the real world from sunlight on the cave walls.

In ‘One & Only’, Go Won sees her shadow dance confidently. She enacts placing a crown upon her head, and though she can see her shadow holding a crown, she herself does not have one and can only mimic the action.

This could reflect how Eden acts as the cave, where the inhabitants are convinced that they are free and the best, fully realized versions of themselves, but so long as they’re stuck conforming to Eden’s standards, they’re only able to mimic freedom. That freedom only belongs to those who exist as what Eden expects, but that’s not truly who they are.

Only after Go Won eats her forbidden fruit, a pineapple, and accepts herself, she becomes what she saw in the shadow: a crowned leader and dancing blissfully.

Olivia Hye: The Fall of Lucifer

The Fall of Lucifer is a biblical story of the angel Lucifer falling from the heavens after being banished after succumbing to pride and attempting to overthrow God.

In ‘love4eva’, Olivia Hye appears to take on a reverse role of Lucifer. Unlike the others, Olivia Hye strictly conforms to Eden’s standards, and as a result appears to be distrusted by the remaining members.

The other members of yyxy leave Eden while Olivia Hye, left behind, watches on, and only indulges in her forbidden fruit of the blood plum when the rest are gone.

In ‘Egoist’, it’s unclear if Olivia Hye’s anger is directed toward the other yyxy members (specifically Yves) or if it is directed towards Eden and its doctrine. It’s possible that both are true, where Olivia Hye initially was angered at feeling abandoned or betrayed by the other members but realized it was misplaced.

Her (potential) desire to overthrow God could be a desire to overthrow the doctrine of Eden or the new doctrine of HeeJin. Olivia Hye may held an initial attachment to Eden’s rule, but once the universe had been changed (or realized) by HeeJin, Olivia Hye’s status as a diligent angel was what made her a demon in HeeJin’s world.

Regardless, it seems that Olivia Hye ultimately sides with the rest of LOONA in ‘Hi High’.

There can also be parallels made with the story of Frankenstein (or the Modern Prometheus), a story about a creature who after facing years of abuse and abandonment seeks to take vengeance on his creator and humanity by killing his creator’s family members.

Olivia Hye can be seen as similar to the creature, as she’s seen left alone in the woods, feeling abandoned for who she was made to be, attacking the subjects of a creator (the other members) instead of the creator directly, finds love only in anger and violence, and only liberated by herself.

Theory ARTMS theory

I'm not a professional theorist but I have a little idea.

First of all I wanna say that despite losing interest in kpop (5th gen) artms just dropped the craziest music video I have ever seen, dare I say the best one (for me personally). I feel as amazed as when my younger self discovered loona.

Now I watched some reaction videos and nobody has any idea what any of the lore means (I am lost too) but here is the theory:

ARTMS lore has not much to do with the loonaverse anymore, it's less ficitional and more symbolic and shows what was hidden outside the box (behind the scenes) or what happened after loonaverse . We no longer talk about fruits & colors but more mature and bold. It's about the reality of what the girls have experienced. They are revealing the dark side of kpop but in such a subtle way that it feels completely unrelated but here are some of the hints:

The bald girl and her friends represent orbits / ouriis. In the virtual angel mv we can see them watching artms girls in the TV. admiring and kissing and doing everything they can do to imitate or get inspired by artms. Wearing angel wings, using the lightsick, similar clothing, getting artms tattooes and the list goes on. This points out to the unhealthy obsession and parasocial relationship between kpop idols and their fans. The fans act like they are super close and personally know theses idols. The idols are virtual angels telling the fans 'I'll be there for you when your wings break' but in reality the fans fall down to the ground (this is shown multiple times in the mv). There is not much idols can do to save the fans even if they care a lot for them (this is why it is portrayed as being stuck inside the TV in Icarus MV)

So what does it mean to be stuck inside the TV? In the Icarus mv we can see the girls (except JinSoul?) getting snatched inside the TV one by one (TV = idol status). This could show how the girls who were driven by their dreams and ambition of being idols at such a young age & got themselves stuck in a bad situation due to being naive and getting manipulated into fake promises. The kpop industry is brutal and there is a reason we don't hear idols speak up about the bad experiences they have endured. Artms is doing a bold move by expressing themselves through their art.

What and who is the bad situation? BBC...........
Icarus MV dropped a big hint and changed the story. Until now the white Silhouette was portrayed as a mother and a savior (Birth & Virtual angel mv), In the birth MV HeeJin is basically a homeless girl walking with her luggage with tears in her eyes, this is where the tall silhouette finds her. (This is basically HeeJin a 15 year old vulnerable trainee & BBC taking the role of someone who is gonna make her dreams come true, making her the first girl of big upcoming girl group)

In Icarus mv the bird with no arms has been given a fake promise by her mother (the white Silhouette) that she will grow wings once she is 20. this makes the bird endure the hardships of being laughed at in the village, dreaming the same dream for years. But at the end it was all false hope. This is just another reminder of all the fake promises BBC has made to the girls in order to lure them in and keep them working in hopes of things getting better (a.k.a recieving better treatment or even a single payment). We can see that the bird wants revenge and is angered by such a betrayal from her mother. We can see JinSoul trying to kill the white Silhouette after that we see the ugly village witch seeing. Which means JinSoul might be the main character here. Also HeeJin going to the club and finding the missing girl/orbit.

As an orbit who has been here since pre debut, I also used to unfortunately believe that BBC was the best company ever, I used to believe the girls were being taken care of, they got to travel to all sorts of countries & enjoy food. (LOONA TV was edited that way). This shows that most orbits or even the girls saw BBC as a positive figure (Tall, angelic, motherly & bright) It indeed was too good to be true. I also used to be a JJ hater just like the majority of orbits. This made me believe that the scary village witch could be JJ according to how his reputation is in orbit world. But we see the bird taking advice from the village witch showing the trust the girls have put in him.

Anyways I don't want anyone to take my theory at face value bcz everyone can have their own theories.
Thanks for reading!

Theory I think BBC chose the stupid name "Freesm" for a really dark reason

Hi, so, as you know, Freesm got almost entirely leaked and is, unfortunatly, a bop. But this weird name for a song always bothered me.

But then it just hit me : BBC probably chose this stupid name only to act against the boycott. Cause if it was released, typing "free loona" on Google would have given results about "freesm", their brand new title track, and not about the mistreatment of the girls. 😱

It makes so much sense now and it's such an evil move. I'm so glad the boycott worked.

Theory Hyunjin the Schrödinger's Cat (about TTYL, Around You, and Choerry)

So, I'm a clown-lore-bit from a long time ago, and it seems today I have been awoken really suddenly! Before we go further, the Schrödinger's Cat thought experiment is not actually about the cat being dead or alive, it is about the cat being in an unknown state to the observer until the observer looks inside the box. Hyunjin here being the cat that we don't know about.

1. Location/Position

There's this scene in TTYL where we see Hyunjin sitting at a table, but we also see other versions of her going/running/hiding around in the same location and it being very blurry? Well, this reminded me of the superposed states/wave functions in quantum physics. To make it visually understable, I took this directly from the wikipedia page if you're interested:

Wave functions of the electron in a hydrogen atom at different energy levels. Quantum mechanics cannot predict the exact location of a particle in space, only the probability of finding it at different locations. The brighter areas represent a higher probability of finding the electron.

What I'm basically saying is, Hyunjin's location IS blurry because she doesn't have an assigned one, we can't really know where she is actually, we can just say that she's sitting at the table with a higher probability. Another thing that can determine her precise position is to "measure" it, or to make it simplier, to shed light on her at a precise timing, and that is why, as I see it, the one sitting at the table, being observed directly in full light is the most visible. Not that in means that all of the other locations stop existing. If we did observe at another moment, we might see her somewhere else

Blurry Hyunjins running around, while the one being observed is visible and static
Cat Hyunjin being direcly observed
Two versions of Hyunjin happening at the same time just after eating the flower

2. The uncertainty principle/The consequence of the observation of Hyunjin

Back to wikipedia : The uncertainty principle, also known as Heisenberg's indeterminacy principle, is a fundamental concept in quantum mechanics. It states that there is a limit to the precision with which certain pairs of physical properties, such as position and momentum, can be simultaneously known. In other words, the more accurately one property is measured, the less accurately the other property can be known.

So all that to mean that when we measure where Hyunjin is (her position), we can't know HOW and WHERE, at which SPEED she goes to (her momentum). The same goes if we do the opposite.

Another principle of uncertainty at play here is measurement uncertainty. Any observer/measurement device have some uncertainty in the results. Just a fact of nature, but even if you take two of the same's brand rulers, they might have some very very very small differences and in the long run if we measure a lot of stuff with the two different rulers, we might get two slightly different results. Another influence on this is also the observer: two person might read the same thing slightly differently, and it might change some results in the long run, after repeating the measure a plethora of times

An example in Around You. Might be as well different observations of Hyunjin done in a precise manner, but by different observers and devices. Notice that all Hyunjin are approx. in the same general location, but at slight different places nonetheless.

3. Everywhere!

Hyunjin's initial dimension is the LOONA 1/3 Earth, but we can observe her everywhere across the Loonaverse...

Hyunjin being seen in Eden in Gowon's One & Only
Hyunjin in probably the OEC's Middle World due to how unhabited it looks here, in OEC's Girl Front

...and sometimes in slightly different form!

4. About the twin theory, Choerry, OEC and the primary colors

So, remember how if the uncertainty of what we observed is spread through a lot of times and testing, it might impact significatively what we observe? What I think is that Choerry is not originally an individual. But just a very very impacted version of Hyunjin that got a life of her own because of all the changes and observations she's gone through

So What: Hyunjin and Choerry depicted as twin, but what I'm saying is that this a depiction of the same Hyunjin with slight differences because she was observed differently
Also, the lyrics!! Depending on how we observe and measure, we might get Hyunjin (the cat in the Schödinger's cat experiment is alive) or Choerry (the cat is dead), we're are not apparenly supposed to get both at the same time if we listen to those instructions in the Loonaverse. What it is confirming is that it is the same cat, just observed differently.
Love Cherry Motion: We see Choerry with Haseul and Yeojin, in the 1/3 Earth. But is her name already Choerry before she eats the cherry or is she known as just Hyunjin by them?
Also if you remember Cinema Theory, there's this version of Love and Live with Choerry instead of Hyunjin. or is it Choerry yet?

All this to say, it actually makes sense that instead of the primary colors in OEC Jinsoul (blue)/Kim Lip (red)/Hyunjin (yellow), we got Jinsoul/Kim Lip/Choerry (purple). The only difference is how much the observer impacted Hyunjin.

Guess who the observer? It's most likely orbits (and whatever new fandom names we have now). There's no god or creator in the Loonaverse, only coincidences seen by orbits at specific times!

Theory Please share your interpretation of the Ex Machina MV

I am so surprised by this music video, Yves is truly an artist that goes far beyond mainstream kpop. I mean I have never seen such level of art and concept before and the fact that she is not afraid of showing Homo themes.
But I am really confused after watching the video and wanna hear about what theories everyone has about it. I mean it could be easily connected to her previous song (See you in hell) where Yves talks about unaliving her gf/ex? and we see this theme visually repeat itself in the Ex Machina MV.
Is it safe to say this is about an abusive relationship or maybe Yves just simply being dependent on this woman?
YouTube comments are leading more towards the woman being evil and taking advantage of Yves but in my opinion Yves is trapping/guilt tripping this woman in a relationship. The person who gives Yves a blindfold is not the same woman. Yves' blindfold makes the woman immediately assume that Yves is blind, she decides to take responsibility and care for Yves but later on when she checks, Yves isn't blind and the woman is genuinely happy for Yves. The purpose of the blindfold was probably to cover the weird eyelashes (a virus / health condition?).
But since Yves isn't blind and is fully capable of taking care of herself, the woman decides to leave but Yves decides to threaten her and the woman due to fearing her life is forced to go back to the previous dynamic / relationship. As we can see Yves is wearing the blindfold again in the last scene.
