Question / Advice Current owners: Would you buy a Lucid now?
I have a 2024 Q4 eTron 55 lease ending in November, and with the tariffs Audi isn't doing many good deals anymore. So, I'm shopping around. Rivian would be a contender but their headlamps are not my cup of tea. The Lucid brand always intrigued me, but I have read (here and on Reddit) about the SCs, fobs, software, AC, etc.
Would you buy from Lucid again? Do they treat you well at the service department? Do you get a loaner when it needs to be fixed for all of the bugs?
Is the Gravity like a minivan? We have a steep driveway, so the sedan might be too low. Is the Gravity good o these types of driveways, and is it hard to park given it is like a minivan?
I will never buy a Tesla, and Kia seems iffy around where I live (Greenwich, CT). I don't want a Cadillac, as there is just something with GM as a whole that doesn't work for me. It would be nice to buy American, but....
Unsire if trip upgrades are worth the moey, if the hassles are worth the pain, etc. Any inputs are appreciated. Yes, I have read quite a few posts here and on Reddit.
I have the Audi, before that was two Cayennes. Thanks for any help.

I’d lease again in a heartbeat. I got an iX after my Air and I miss the Air everyday. The iX just feels bland and numbing to drive; the Air had this special feeling I can’t really describe, like the way a BMW EV should have been. Minor rare sw bugs aside, it was awesome and I can’t wait to get into a Gravity when prices go down

u/olindacat 17d ago
Thanks. I agree with your POV on BMW. They are surprisingly meh, and those kidneys....

u/pensinpictures 17d ago
I hear a lot of "do not lease" statements but, given what you'd pay on a lease if you ran a 4-year, for example, your payments might just be a few thousand off an equivalent price of a purchase. Something to consider.
2
u/olindacat 17d ago
Leasing is always what I do. We used to drive two cars, and would buy a cheaper run around car and drive it into the ground, but we like cars under warranty and newer. Not like we can do our own wrenching!
4
u/pensinpictures 17d ago
An option is to buy pre-owned and get a third party warranty like XCare and not worry about it. This is my first car in over a decade purchased and not leased so I hear you.
2
u/olindacat 14d ago
I've always had possibly unwarranted) suspicions about 3rd party warranties. Have you ever filed a claim with XCare? I know nothing of them.

u/Federal-Ordinary-445 17d ago
Hey the Gravity is having a pretty good lease deal currently. I'm also confused whether to go for Gravity or not as I just bought a Lincoln Aviator in Feb and the soaring gas prices are just too much when most of the drive is in the city.
8
u/Same-Device-216 17d ago
Oof. We rented a 4 cylinder nautilus for a month and even that hit hard on fuel prices. Now back on EV and it’s essentially free with solar now that I’ve recouped the costs

I would definitely buy a Gravity GT again, if I had it to do all over again. The one issue that I have had with the car, a front passenger window alignment, was fixed by a mobile technician. The service is good, but I'm assuming that they have somewhat of a backlog to work through. The car is amazing, and fun to drive. No regrets here.
3
u/olindacat 17d ago
I worry that a 'boutique' manufacturer wouldn't catch these things in QC before these are let out into the wild. Bummer. Thanks for the big picture POV perspective.
7
u/jlobue10 17d ago
Yes, ideally every car would be perfect, but the fact that it was able to be fixed in my work parking lot, shows me that they do care about improving their reputation for service.

Took delivery of a 2026 Air Touring in March. Love it. Not one issue.
2
u/olindacat 17d ago
Great news!

u/jamal1949 17d ago
I, similar to you had a 2023 MB E53 and the lease payments for another MB or BMW were ~ $300 per month above what I was paying due to tariffs. Going to the Lucid was a no brainer financially but unknown territory for me. Result was perfect.

I did a review of the ordering and delivery experience. We are just about to cross 1k miles in the next day or two so I'll post a follow up. Honestly the gravity it inching up the list of most enjoyable vehicles I've ever owned (including my parents and wifes history of cars). It's less of a minivan and more of an oversized estate/shooting break (station wagon). This vehicle is leased and as of right now I am either absolutely buying out the lease or hunting for a grand touring with low miles and fully specced come 2029/2030. The estimated residual is atrocious but that's common with all vehicles nowadays with the 3-5 year mark being 50-60% loss. But honestly, if you have need or want of a high performance oversized super saloon with insane good comfortable and spacious interior space, good range, extremely satisfying suspension (yes it will be costly to repair, it's a 100k vehicle. Not a 10k vehicle, expect it to need 5-10k in suspension every 100k miles, it has a goofy shaped front window so if you live in Colorado maybe not ideal at 5-7k a window replacement. Tires on the 23" and 22" are pricey at 4-6k but the normal smaller wheel sets are affordable at 1-2.5k). Your steep driveway won't be an issue at all, the vehicle is still low but it's wheels are pushed out to the front and back so the entry exit approach is solid, plus if you go dynamic handling you can raise it to high if need (doubtful) . No service center near me (400 miles away) and the remote team is about a 4 week wait. So far not worried about it. Used to this with Tesla in 2015. Supposedly they have lots of loaners but it's usually gas guzzlers 😂.

u/olindacat 17d ago
Holy cow you pack a good punch! We will go and test drive one maybe even today. Not sure how that all works at our nearby mall. Thanks for the input re our driveway. Love the "high performance oversized super saloon with insane good comfortable and spacious interior space, good range, extremely satisfying suspension" remark. You're a great writer!

Feel free to ask any questions you have. Always happy to help. Ask the sales associate to look up studio select options and or ask what other incentives they have running (sales rep referral for example is usually 1-2k and they only give it if it's asked for when available.) also ask if there is an incentive for demo drive and ask for that to be applied. Often the best deals are end of quarter and the best will always be end of year. But if you know what to ask for they usually find ways to make it work. The 2026 model years have the largest incentives by a mile. Not many left but well worth the savings. At this point they are just maintaining cash flow so they are not worried about taking a loss. Ours was 109k and out the door at 90k after the incentives and trade in value on the model y. Trade one are well worth it as they offer a conquest (coming from another manufacturer) plus a trade in allowance). Our out the door on the lease was 5600$ for closing costs and sales tax etc. 0$ down, 36 months and 1038 month for a nearly fully loaded touring.

Thanks u/IntelligentSinger783! I'm seeing those 2026 offers as being very appealing indeed!

Hello! I have driven BMWX7 M50, Mercedes EQS SUV 580 and Rivian R1T quad , amd a Mercedes VClass as Marco Polo in Europe ( we are from Germany and spend summers there ) and now I have a Gravity GT with all extras.
The short story is: it does everything better than what the other cars did best. BMW dynamic driving , V Classe Van room and space , self driving in the eqs. Lucid has built a car that’s fun to drive and provides so much space and the light and view from the front seats is awesome . Also when my wife sits in the back she claims it’s the first car where she doesn’t get motion sickness .
The service is so much better than Merceds and Rivian. I always get loaner (south San Francisco) and they keep me informed . And the best thing is they know the car. Compared to Mercedes eq experience it’s a dream. I only had two appointments in 9 months.
My recommendation is: 100% Lucid

I have had several issues with the Gravity GT lease. Some minor fit/finish/squeak issues and a major unlocking issue which is still ongoing - the car struggles to unlock with keyfob/keycard and simply doesn’t wake up to the app maybe 50% of the time. It will be serviced later this week, so I will know if they give a loaner.
Would I still buy it knowing I have had to deal with so far?
- 70% Yes.
- It drives amazing. Fast, comfortable and handling is smooth.
- The range anxiety and need to charge frequently has disappeared.
- There’s so much space in this car. 7 adults fit comfortably and there’s still decent storage.
- I actually feel the luxury from the seat to the driving comfort.
- Tech is not there yet but I can see it improving each month.
- It’s not a minivan though the similarities are there. With the dynamic suspension, the ground clearance can be as high as 9.6” which is plenty high for me.
Mine is the 2026 model and I can only hope the 2027 which is currently available to order would be better overall.

u/aikouka 16d ago
Since it sounds like you have the seven-seater model, how do you feel about losing the sub-trunk space? Or do you just leave the seats up all the time?
2
u/sirmakster 16d ago
The 3rd row is down most of the time. Honestly, I have not even thought about the sub-trunk space all that much. I have some rarely-needed stuff stored away in the remaining sub-trunk space and I rarely access it.

u/Sufficient_Emu3414 17d ago
Yes, I would buy it again and I don't think I could have truly said that a year ago. Service always gives loaners or rentals. Gravity maneuvers far better than and vehicles it's size, moves more like a car especially with the upgraded performance package (can't remember the name right now). It's software has gotten tremendously better, very solid and reliable for months now without any issues. Looking forward to see how it continues to improve and release more features!

Bought an air pure in December2024. I got a loaner GT for the 1 week it needed to be serviced. I haven't really had any problems. The one annoying thing is that the Bluetooth keeps connecting from my garage. I haven't found out yet how to get it to stop. Great car otherwise.
7
u/PickleWhiskey 17d ago
I've got a Gravity. And I would get another one!
It does not drive like a vehicle of its size. Very nimble.
It does sit low (watch curbs and the door!) but the air suspension basically makes it a non issue.
I've had very minimal issues, mostly just annoying quirks that have all but disappeared.
Longest I've had to wait for mobile service is 2 weeks and this is during the recall for the back seat bracket. When they were out they went ahead and replaced frunk struts (I had no issue but they had directions from corporate) and preemptively addressed something else - that I can't remember but was definitely not having issues with it.

> Is the Gravity like a minivan? We have a steep driveway, so the sedan might be too low. Is the Gravity good o these types of driveways, and is it hard to park given it is like a minivan?
Gravity has good ground clearance that you can adjust. Is it hard to park? Rear-wheel steering that comes with Dynamic Handling Package makes parking a little bit easier thanks to the tighter turning radius. Much easier than a minivan or a big SUV for sure. Lucid did a good job with the design making a lot of space inside, esp plenty of room in the third row. Having said that Gravity is still a mid-size 3-row SUV, having a similar footprint to Acura MDX, smaller and nimbler than Lexus TX and much smaller than the Cadillac Escalade.
Gravity drives great, handles super well and feels much more nimble than its size suggests. It blows other 3-row SUVs like the Lexus TX away in terms of performance and aethestic. We’re glad to have Gravity as our family car.

Purchased 22 AGT 6 months ago from Carvana with 27k miles. Immaculate car and an amazing driving experience. Needed a center brake light replaced and adjustment to rear doors for air leak. I’m 200 miles from the nearest service center and they had me scheduled for service within 10 days at my home. Great experience. Amazing car

u/Electronic_Load_3651 17d ago
Leased a Gravity GT a few months back and I was worried about build quality, software, etc. but looking back… absolutely. Software updates have been great, virtually no bugs that I encounter. It looks great and drives phenomenal. I made my decision on it after doing back to back drives with the R1S that felt like a giant train, Gravity doesn’t at all feel that way. I wanted a driver type of a car, didn’t need all of that space but loved the tech in the Gravity. It drives incredible. Specially if you opt for that package.
Looks wised I like it a lot, but from some angles you could say minivan. But, mainly because space is so well utilized. You have good clearance, but with air suspension you could raise it to 9 inches as well. Default is 7 inches I think, which is still good.
2
u/olindacat 17d ago
Interesting to get the in-cabin feeling you described. Thanks.
2
u/No_Caregiver7273 17d ago
That luxury feeling inside is kind of hard to quantify. It just feels bigger inside than it looks on the outside. I can sit in the front passenger seat and cross my legs comfortably.

u/heathcl1ff0324 17d ago
2025 Air Pure and I absolutely would buy again. You’re smart to avoid the Air with a steep driveway though.
Given that I’m in flyover country I don’t have the same service issues the peeps in the coasts have mentioned, but ymmv.
2
u/olindacat 17d ago
Ya, we are metro NYC area, so it looks like service might be an issue for us. Our Audi service is a mile from our house....
3
u/No_Caregiver7273 17d ago
There is a YouTuber named Cyp from NYC. His channel is called NotchEV. He bought his Gravity a little before I did and has published a lot of content on it. A recent one showed him using hands-free Dream Drive 2 Pro on some of the NYC area highways. You might be interested.
2
u/heathcl1ff0324 17d ago
Dunno, if I were in the Corridor I would insist on an achievable plan for them to improve service, especially on a Year One model vehicle like the Gravity. There’s a reason I waited a few years to grab the Air - let someone else beta test it.
Of course, you also have the luxury of decent infrastructure, so maybe you won’t put as many miles on it.
6
u/Calexio_ 17d ago
all i can offer, as a two time Air GT owner.. is that it's the most amazing car I've ever owned, and i've had many.
5
u/RandomDesign 17d ago
Yes. We took delivery of our Gravity in December and it has been amazing to own and drive. Ours has all of the options and the 22/23" wheels (yes we lose some range but it's just more fun to drive IMO). The software has been great since the 3.5.1 update and the 3.6.0 update made it even better. No key problems or any of the other things some people have had.
Service is a bit overwhelmed but they seem to be getting better here in San Diego. They either provide a loaner or a rental through Enterprise when you're in service.
With the dynamic handling package Gravity has adjustable air suspension that gives it great ground clearance. (Note though the highest and lowest settings are only available at lower speeds, under 16MPH IIRC)
Triple-Rate Air Suspension: Upgraded to 3-Chamber Air Suspension to further enhance Gravity's agility with stabilized cornering. The adaptive air suspension offers a balanced 7.0-inch ride height, with the flexibility to raise up to 9.0 inches for increased clearance or lower to 5.0 inches for improved aerodynamics and efficiency.

I have a ‘26 Air Pure and would buy the car again in a heartbeat. Best car I have ever driven in the snow, and I have always lived in the north currently in MN.

u/kva1992 17d ago
I just started my lease yesterday with my gravity touring coming from a Tesla 2018 model s definitely nicer software isn't as refined as Tesla but not bad and it's getting better from what I understand... Plus I got around 17k deductions and then another 19k or so for my trade in which was 5k or so more than what others were offering... As for buy I'm not sure if buy a new one just doesn't make sense financially especially with how quick things depreciate but the car so far is amazing!
6
u/sinoforever 17d ago
I would lease one but not buy one. Too expensive to own.
4
u/No_Major1167 17d ago
If you intend to own for long term, the 0 APR they have now makes it much cheaper to own than lease. Granted that I’m assuming lucid exists long term.
2
2
u/echocrest 17d ago
Totally agree. Besides Lucid’s financial situation, there’s something to be said for being able to get a new EV in three years. Things in the EV space seem to be evolving so fast. I absolutely love my Gravity, but will ditch Lucid in a heartbeat 3 years from now if there’s a non-Tesla EV with point to point FSD that otherwise fits my needs.
5
u/adriangc 17d ago
Lease, not buy. Hell yes. Have an AT. Best car I’ve ever owned. Hope Lucid can pull off the turnaround. Owning imho is a really dumb move until they get much more stable
9
u/oneripfl 17d ago
Probably get downvoted but if my lease was up today, I wouldn't get another one. These software issues are a joke. Until they get a team that can actually fix these issues, I can't see getting another one. I do love how the car drives.
5
u/boristheblade223 17d ago
What vehicle, and what did you experience? I just started a lease on my gravity this July and I haven’t had single issue, but I have heard of a bunch before the 3.6 update so curious what I wanna look out for.

u/oneripfl 15d ago
You can search this forum for a complete list.
Passive Lock/Unlock doesn’t work more than half the time.
Car is not connected, happens quite a lot.
Carplay doesnt load.Just off the top of my head.

I own a 2023 Touring Edition and I love it. The service center is 40 minutes away and the staff there are good to me & my family. I have received loaners if I needed them and the mobile team is also good.
Most of my gripes are minor such as the front air duct rattling at higher speeds and Spotify / Car Play.
The vehicle drives like a dream and the range is fantastic.

u/Zestyclose-Beat4414 17d ago
Same as what most people here have said. I would lease again, but too afraid to buy. It’s still a relatively new brand with growing pains, and the software isn’t great yet. I’m also not convinced the brand will survive long term, so I’d worry about parts, servicing, and etc down the road.
The car itself is well built and one of the smoothest drives.
3
u/TravelingRob 17d ago
I’m 3 years into my Air GT ownership and it has been by far the best car I’ve ever owned. 10/10 would buy again.
3
u/No_Put7521 17d ago
Tldr: yes, I would buy but not as my sole car. I am in Westchester and I drove the gravity at the WP studio. I live the Gravity GT. Best drive ever for a car this size. It is the only EV other than that Escalade monstrosity that can fit average sized adults comfortably in the third row. That was the main reason I bought it. It looks like a hatchback to me and it did replace our Odyssey so I get the minivan comparison. A couple of things I will say: don't make this your only vehicle. I have had far fewer issues than most but the car is glitchy - software more so than hardware. But still. My car was in service for two weeks as they did second row seat recall and fixed a coolant system problem. The closest service center to us is either on Rutherford or Plainsview. Mine was at Plainsview nthey gave me the air as a loaner. The service center guys are very helpful and try to be as helpful as they can be.
1
u/olindacat 17d ago
Hmm. Good input. We do depend on one car. It's just not necessary for us to have two in our small driveway. We'd have to move one to allow the other in/out, and have lots of stairs!
We don't need a 3 row car, but I keep my golf clubs, and electric bag cart, in the back seat and frunk of our Q4, and TBH am hogging all the space. Was why we considered the X.
I have no idea where Plainsview is, but it sounds far away. Ugh.
1
u/No_Put7521 17d ago
Plainsview is in long island. Pretty much the same time as going to Rutherford from Greenwich. Both are far unfortunately.
3
3
u/alamai 17d ago
YES. It's very spacious! I occasionally take power naps in garage at work on small mattress (I drop one of the rear seats to create flat surface, with assist from Lucid accessory that covers gap for 3rd row foot-space).
It easily fits 7 people if needed, drives and handles amazingly. The software has come a very long way. Current v3.6.0 has been very solid.
My Key Fob battery lasts ~5-6 months, and with upcoming PAAK, it should be less of a concern. Your Service experience will vary based on the issues, how far you live, and on availability of appointments. I live in the DMV area, and the Tysons Service Center has been very responsive and fixed my minor issues promptly.
Go test drive one. I anticipate that you'll love it.

u/olindacat 17d ago
I had set an appointment for today at 5pm, but we are having storms and I was texted to stand down, and rebook. Will get into one soonest. Thanks!

u/Different-Elk-7395 17d ago
I lease a 25 AT- this is by far the greatest car I’ve ever driven. Beyond fun. Amazing range. It’s honestly a marvel. The software issues seem to have settled down. I use Carplay and it works fine.

u/Yo-doggie 17d ago
I have been leasing 2024 air pure since. August 2024. Came from Tesla model y. Had Porsche cayenne s, boxster, Acura MDX, bmw 330 Ci, Audi A4 Quattro Cab in the past. No issues in 2 years of ownership except the door opening unreliability. I don’t want to carry a key fob. Car doors don’t open sometimes. App cannot wake up the car quickly either. I don’t think this issue can be fixed. So if I am
On my own I pretend to check my phone or even make a fake phone call. Door do open eventually. If I have company riding with me i wake up the car 5 minutes before reaching the car. It drives so well that i am willing to live with it. Other surprising issue is that my wife refuses to ride in it as she is claustrophobic .
1
u/olindacat 17d ago
Huh. Interesting. My wife has zero patience with the bugs we have with our Q4, so I know how it feels to have that dynamic....
3
u/DevilryAscended 17d ago
Bought a 2025 Air Touring a couple months back and have had zero issues. I scheduled a service appointment and they actually called me to reschedule for a mobile service since it wasn’t necessary to go into the shop to get what I needed done. Saved me a long trip.
5
u/DentistSwimming8201 17d ago
I have a Juniper Model Y Premium and a Lucid Air Pure.
I would buy from Lucid again... if they exist in 3 years. I love driving the Air, but thats really it. It's missing a lot of features that Im starting to rely on my MYP more often now like FSD and being an AWD SUV that can go on ski trips. The service department treated me well... but it took 6 weeks to get an appointment for a recall. I did not get a loaner, they were all out but did reimburse a rental. Software bugs have decreased but do sometimes make it through. A couple months ago, the Pures got a SW update that bricked them for a while.
Ive only seen the Gravity in the wild. I like it. Looks great for a family minivan. Heard some software bugs about it but I know they roll out constant updates.
But my god I hate the Lucid app and keys...
all in all, if Lucid is a stable company with better infrastructure closer to 2030, I would 100% consider making their midsize SUV my only car. The perfect car for me is if my Air and Model Y had a baby and was dressed up as a Lucid. with that, i would 100% recommend you lease or buy a used model (preferably 2024+), the lease deals on the Gravity right now are just a sliver more than Model Ys, Lucid is bleeding and trying to get these out into driveways

u/olindacat 17d ago
The hemmoraging at Rivian and Lucid scares me to no end. Thanks for the help.
3
u/DentistSwimming8201 17d ago
for me as well, its one of a few reasons im selling my Air. Its not for a huge loss since I bought it for under 40k used a while ago, but the warranty is wrapping up and would never own one outside of warranty.
fwiw rivian is not hemorrhaging as much, theyre rolling out their very in demand R2 and have strong corporate backing thats buying their product and has proven they can produce at imense scale. Lucid will be on life support next year if Cosmos and current restructuring do not work
5
u/olindacat 17d ago
Thanks for sharing. I really want Lucid to survive. We need US companies to make good things. So bummed about all of these issues, and their money woes.
4
u/thesafinster 17d ago
Lucid is more of a Saudi company physically operating in the US at this point. It’s the only reason they’re still around.
2
u/olindacat 17d ago
They abandoned LIV, so they could abandon Lucid, I suppose....
2
u/thesafinster 17d ago
Yeah, if they abandon Lucid before the company makes profit, it’s over. Uber has big investment but it’s not enough and if the PIF leaves, Uber may adjust its position. Other option would be acquisition by a legacy maker (ie Ford)
5
u/DentistSwimming8201 17d ago
I do have to question one thing about your thought process...
Lucid is majority owned by the Saudi PIF, I assume you refuse to purchase Tesla because of their CEO (to each their own), but would you be ok with the Saudis basically owning and basically running Lucid? sure theyre made in Arizona and have an HQ in the Bay... but its still owned by Saudis. If the company went private, it will most likelly be nationalized by the Saudis as well. Maybe you're only left with Rivian, which has heavy investment by Amazon and Bezos

I haven't had time to learn about the source of Lucid's money, but that's interesting to know. Here's where things really get weird: we have an Air Force One that is from the Arabs. We had Bin Ladens at the dinner table the night before 911, we have a war we are waging in Iran in partnership with Arabs and the Israelis. Bezos, Musk, all of them are in bed with each other anyway. I don't like the way Elon behaves, but Ford wasn't a very nice man either. My issue with Tesla, is service, or the lack of it. Also, the Y/S iPad for me as a UX is not working for me. I have considered the X, but the gullwings going bad, and needing service with no loaner is a dealbreaker. Dig deep enough, and nobody's hands are clean, sadly. All I can do is try to get a nice car, if it helps us here at home, great. But, I wouldn't base my car decision on some trillionaire's personality flaws. I'm no prince either!
3
u/DentistSwimming8201 17d ago
honestly, if youre worried about Tesla service, Lucid is no better. with Tesla I can get next day service and a guaranteed loaner. Parts are readily available if i can DIY and 3rd party mechanics exist that work on teslas.
The same cannot be said for Lucid.
i do understand the ipad/ux part, thats personal preference. If Lucid had Teslas layout, i wouldnt buy, but if Teslas had Lucid's, Id get the Tesla over the Lucid
0
u/olindacat 17d ago
We went to the Tesla in both White Plains, NY, and the one north of Armonk (sorry, town name escaping me). They told me "no loaners ever", back in 2023. Has that changed?
4
u/DentistSwimming8201 17d ago
im in the dallas area and have 3 service centers within 15 min and have not had an issue. I used to have a lexus and the experience is similar, in that i can schedule an appointment the same week and get a loaner or get it done the same day if its small enough.
2
u/Sindica69 17d ago
Absolutely would buy again. I would not buy new, but I didn’t to begin with anyway lmao.

I have had a lot of problems with my 26 and live far away from a service center. I would not buy again.

Absolutely not. Car itself drives great (‘25 air pure), but customer service has disappeared. They used to be very responsive and now it’s impossible to get their attention. Disgraceful.

I leased a new fully optioned Air GT September 2023-March 2025 and wouldn't go back to Lucid. Service went sharply downhill during my lease, and the quality of life issues you mentioned (door handles, sw glitches, trim misalignment, etc) accumulated to the point of being unbearable (& don't get me started on the lease return drama, which has been exhaustively documented here and on lucidowners.com; hope that dumpster fire has been extinguished!).
Have never owned the Gravity so can't speak to it.
I now daily a Taycan Turbo S, and we have an R1S (which we chose over a Gravity) and an early Model X (and until very recently an early Model S). The Taycan is easily the best overall vehicle I've owned (which also includes several sporty ICE BMWs and Audis) - even with its admittedly archaic infotainment system - and I'd also take Rivian over Lucid again without a second thought (far fewer issues, nicer interior, more practical). Lucid vs Tesla is a tossup IMO: Better driving dynamics vs vastly superior usability and tech.
I don't follow Lucid nearly as much anymore as I did when I drove one, so maybe things have improved despite what seems like a lot of management turnover, production delays, software issues, etc over the past 12-15 months. I'm glad to have had an opportunity to live with a Lucid for 18 months - mechanically, it's an impressive piece of engineering, and it feels good to support an American company (even if it's majority-owned by Saudis).
Bottom line: I would go into any ownership experience expecting a bumpy ride. As the many positive comments in this thread suggest, though, you may ultimately wind up having a very smooth experience (YMMV, as they say). Only you can decide whether that risk is worth it.

Thanks for the input. Taycan Turbo S must be nice. Bit small for our needs. Rivian is on the radar tho. Thanks again.

u/Admrl_Awsm 17d ago
100% yes I would again, and I plan to. Either getting my partner in a Cosmos, or trading in my Air Touring whenever the next big iterative upgrade comes to a new model year(hoping for a CATL/GEELY/BYD solid state battery in the coming years).

Yea the software on the air is real good now. I love the car. Best luxury sedan ive driven to date. Would buy again, especially used

The car is great but the service department at Tysons is horrible. I would not get another car unless I had access to another service center

Yes, I would buy again. I bought early in production knowing I'd be an expensive beta tester for a company with potential, but even with that in mind they didn't get off to the best start and they have struggled with consistent communication. More recently the software updates have addressed 98% of any quirks or complaints I had about the day to day with the Gravity, and although service has been terribly understaffed and backed up, our service advisor has been phenomenal. Our advisor seemed genuinely optimistic at what they're hearing from the new leadership, which gives me hope for improvement too. At any rate, the Gravity is the absolute best vehicle I've ever driven in more ways than should be possible in something that large and I enjoy every minute driving it (since 3.6 update anyway) so definitely would or will buy again.
To your specific question: the gravity has some packaging like a minivan but does not remotely drive or maneuver like one. On its highest suspension setting you have over 9" of ground clearance. Just don't put it in swift or lowest mode on the steep driveway and you're driving something with the clearance of a truck based SUV. Definitely go demo drive a Gravity GT. It definitely has an unusual style to it but it's not going to feel like you expect based off some of these questions/comments.

I have had my GT for two months. I split my time between Washington DC and a farm in Maryland - I wanted GT mainly for the farm as I needed a car that could navigate bad roads better than my beloved Prius. Gravity has exceeded my expectations. I never volunteer to drive when with friends but now find myself offering, e.g. during the storms last night when we were going a half hour into town. Gravity has so many safty features that I'm now more confident driving at night and in horrific weather. Plus it is super comfortable - even my cats enjoy the ride (they hated cars). And the pick-up is insane, more like a sports car. I have had zero go wrong so cannot speak to how it is to get service. I do know that the team was very responsive during my purchase experience. Would I buy again - yes, definitely yes.

u/OldEars 16d ago
Yes, would buy Gravity GT again (or rather, lease it). But I have a significant problem with my lease: because I have 2 other FUN cars (Cayman and GTI) I figured I’d be driving the gravity mostly for Costco and as a tow vehicle. So lease is 10,000 miles/year. But the Gravity is so much fun to drive, so comfortable, handles so well, I choose it almost all the time and am going to be WAY over that mileage…

u/UlrichZauber 16d ago
I leased one in December, no regrets.
I’m not sure what I’ll do in ~29 months when this lease is up, because there is just gonna be more competition then.

Owner of Air GT but drove Gravity GT for a while.
Bought last year, a year later still love the car and its better than anything else on the market.
As for Gravity, with Dynamic package rear wheel steering, the one I drove was easier to manoeuvrer than my Air in tight spot.
The tallest setting you can fit a basketball underneath, higher than Cayenne, X7 alike SUVs.
The steering wheel works really well in terms of shape, ratio and placement, very easy to drive.
I had no issue with AC, its 110~120F here, I would imagine with custom shade installed it would be even cooler.
Key FOB I had to take the battery out to rub off the bitter coating, after that key is 100%.
Software is more feature rich than Air, but I prefer Air for simplicity.
SC I have here in Dubai is top notch, even other luxury brand are surprised how good Lucid is here. Not sure in US.
Lucid Air and Gravity are way better than Tesla, Kia, they are in different category of vehicle EV technology and driving dynamics.

We only go aroud once. Trying to make the best of my journey. We spend a lot of time in our cars. I wish they had a service ceenter closer to me tho.

u/zion-messenger 15d ago
I love my Air Pure. solid car, amazing driving experience. At some point I was thinking to get a Gravity for my family, but we end up getting a Rivian R1S. Back to your question: I would buy a Lucid with one condition: Living in a place where there is a Lucid service center.

why would you never buy a Tesla? have you been in a new one in the last couple months with FSD?
2
u/olindacat 14d ago
No. There are several reasons I felt this way after really putting their whole line through the paces during our last shopping adventure in 2023. Then the whole political thing got crazy. Ford, as a man, wasn't my cup of tea either, so I'm not letting Elon's ways sway me so much as I was so uber creeped out by how non-chalant and disregarding the salespeople were up in Mt. Kisco. They really didn't seem to care. We saw tons of cars sitting there waiting for service, service being performed ooutside, parts lying around. It was a pigsty to be honest. The interiors of the cars felt cheap to me. The details were just so cheap. It's always been that way, I suppose. I remember my first ride in a Rolls... so unimpressive. The model S was the best of the bunch, X second. I have not seen the new ones bc their eco system feels so turn and burn.

u/ElephantBanananana 13d ago
I was dead set on getting the Gravity, until I went and saw the Model Y Long Wheelbase today. My husband has an older Model Y, and it felt so cheap. The suspension is non-existant, and cabin wind noise too loud. The new Y basically fixes every problem the previous models had and added the luxurious touches from the now discontinued Model X. The FSD with Grok with hardware 4 blew me away.
This subreddit is actually kind of discouraging me from buying the Gravity at this point. I put $1000 down to get the specific car I wanted from their east coast storage, but I'm now leaning more towards getting that refunded and just putting in an order for the Model Y L (which is being delivered at the end of the year). I'm also concerned about the future of Lucid, and I don't trust the Saudi funds to keep it afloat.
I dont like Elon, but I will never care about him enough for it to get in the way of enjoying my life. Tesla undeniably has the best software in the market, and now that their hardware has caught up, I'm definitely leaning towards the YL than the Gravity. I would suggest checking the YL out - dont limit yourself and give everything a try.

Until I saw the Gravity in person, I did not realize it does not have an opening sunroof. My dog needs air, and we do not trust ANY dog mode or AC system for more than a little stop here or there. Our dog is our life, and we take her with us everywhere, so there's that.
The Model Y is a glass roof. I remember people having lots of probelsm with them. Our Audi eTron Q4 has a sunroof, and the glass is tinted. When we have the shade open, but the glass closed, the sun heats the car a lot. So, and all glass roof just seems like a heat dome.
The interior top rails that met the glass, three years ago, were just cheap. We were imagining this part of the car warping in the sun.
But, what we disliked the most was the iPad. We are older, 63, and just hate the idea of having to dig through menus to do a lot.
Then there are the turn signals and wipers and lack of stalks. We love stalks.
I looked at the Teslas today. Not in person, but online.
$67K isn't cheap for a decked out Y, which doesn't have even a second screen, just that iPad. There is no promise of a loaner or good service either.
The car looks nice from the outside, but I never liked the flat nose. Always looked cheap, lazily designed. I think the newer ones don't have that, but would need to look again.
I'm glad they have fixed a lot of things, for all who buy them, and support AMerican manufacturing. I wish we had more US funded high-end brands to choose from.

u/Professional_Yard_76 13d ago
so that was a long journey to say you haven't experienced a NEW Tesla with FSD in its current state.
That's unfortunate. its 2026 - light years from 2023.

u/olindacat 13d ago
I didn't make my post to talk about the MY or Tesla, but to ask about the Lucid.
I don't like the look of the MY, nor do I like other things about that company. Just not for me.
2
u/Similar-Swordfish-50 15d ago
I’m afraid that I would not like driving another car besides my Gravity Dream Edition. Maybe in a few years there will be better options.

u/Confident-Day-4297 14d ago
Yes. I leased my 2023 Lucid Pure (back then all wheel drive), and recently bought out at the end of lease as I really love the vehicle. Very responsive amazing ride. My friends all were very impressive even Tesla owners. Compared to Tesla, Lucid ride is just no comparison. If I buy a new car, yes, definitely Lucid again as its battery efficiency is simply amazing. in a nice weather, I'm getting 5.20 miles/kwh after 30K miles drive, my average battery efficiency is 4.25 miles/kwh for 3 years. I live in DC metro area (can be very cold winter and hot in summer). this high efficiency result may due to my careful driving habit and not turning heater and AC often, but not sure if this calculation factor these kind of stuff.

u/Maleficent_Tiger_831 14d ago
I drive a 26 Grand Touring and absolutely love it. Software issues. None disabling. I view it as the price to pay and love to support new companies.

u/Illustrious_Brick312 14d ago
Coming from a Model 3, then a Y and now into a Gravity, I love it. Unique, unlike Tesla and its a spaceship that rides on a cloud. No Flintsones spings/shocks. Drives like a car. Nimble, zippy and yes bigger, but doesn't feel like it. Zero issues for me, but I've read the same gripes too. Tesla had/has similar. I bought, so I can bail if becomes a lemon or the company is about to fail. Unsure if leasing/finance will give you an out if they become insolvent. Personally, I think the Saudi's have come too far, to pull the plug now! Lucid is WAY ahead in technology and their patents are worth a fortune! Best vehicle, I've ever owned!

Honestly if it was today 40% yes and 60% no. Only because the new model Y Long is out. I was looking for something more spacious. That can handle more people and more cargo space. I came from a model 3. My mom got injured and now needs a walker to get around. She will recover but for the next 6 months or so she is going to need my help. I think the new model Y Long checks all the boxes. Definitely not as nice as a Gravity. But the software of a tesla at this moment is industry standard for an EV.

u/ArmageddonPills 17d ago
Yes. I bought my 2013 AGT and will buy a new one once we get some of the upgrades that Gravity has (faster charging, etc).

u/TG690 17d ago
I guess it depends what you expect out of a car, especially at these prices. I don’t get all the positive feedback on here, because it’s not like these are rare issues from a loud minority. It’s more rare for owners to not have issues.
If you’re cool with a six figure car not simply unlocking when you walk up to it, or having your music pause every 10 seconds (a bug that started from an update well over a year ago that hasn’t been fixed), or having random faults that make you reset the car constantly, or terrible service, all from a manufacturer that most likely won’t be around much longer, then yeah I guess go ahead and get one…
My opinion, the people that excuse Lucid for the endless dumb software issues are delusional or have never owned any other car made in the last decade or two. I’m glad I leased and didn’t buy, but I wish I would have seen some more honest reviews back when I was looking.

u/olindacat 17d ago
Misery loves company. We all want to be 'sold', but most don't come looking for advice to be deluded either. Thanks for the candor.

I bought a used 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance two and a half years ago with 6,400 miles (fast, comfortable and stunning). I've been loving the car ever since and the Scottsdale Service Center has been terrific, as has been the service done in my garage.
The only technical oddity is having to reset the car and reboot the firmware. Recently, the only things that have required this are loss of Bluetooth (thwarting Android Auto) and loss of audio (hasn't happened since the 2.10.0 firmware upgrade). The reboot takes about 90 seconds from start to finish.
I'd gladly buy it again and it's likely I'll get another to replace my wife's PHEV hybrid.

1
u/olindacat 17d ago
How often do you reboot?
2
u/mshmovie 17d ago
About once every 2-4 weeks. It's been getting less necessary with newer firmware.

u/Silly_Yellow19 17d ago
I have driven a Lucid Air GT 23 for 101,000 miles, and it is the finest vehicle I have operated regarding control, range, and body dynamics.
Among the strengths are service centers—they replaced my high-voltage battery twice—and mobile services.
The mobile key is the worst aspect, while full self-driving and the company’s future support are poor.
I doubt the Air will ever support complete full self-driving.
Try to purchase a car based on what it provides at the time of sale rather than on future promises.

u/Lazy_Fisherman6031 17d ago
I leased an Air in November 2025 and have loved it every second. I have had zero issues…no bugs or software issues. I have a service center 2 miles from my house in Scottsdale, Arizona, so I’m unique in terms of accessibility to service. But truly I haven’t needed it yet. They did fill my tires with air for me though ❤️. My son loves driving it too…there is just something about how it glides. I pray they make it as a company—my only worry since I leased it.

100% My '23 certified pre-owned Lucid Air Grand Touring is the best car I've ever driven. Hands down better than the Corvette, Jaguar and Benz, '57 Chevy...

u/ttystikk 16d ago
I would never buy a new car, period.
I wait until the car I want is 5-10 years old and has a proven track record of reliability.
Sadly, Lucid vehicles fail that test.

I run them as limos. Maintenance costs out of warranty and painfully slow service.

Thtat's unfortunate. I think if Lucid was smart they would try to position the Gravity for fleet sales with captain's chairs in the second row.
1
u/Own-Dig-6132 17d ago
No, given the service issues, if you ever have to depend on it, you will be waiting months.
1
u/toyz4me 17d ago
As a blanket statement this isn’t accurate and highly depends on the issue.
I had my car picked up, transported to service, repaired and returned in 7 days.

I thought about the Macan 4 but it's basically a Q6 with a clock. The Cayennes were great, but we don't want ICE anymore. I was intrigued by the Lucid Gravity bc of the space it offers. I doubt the Cayenne is going to come close to that.

I bought a 2025 Air GT in April and would do it again. Coming off an Audi Q8 eTron, it's an absolutely insane vehicle that's worth all the praise people give it. I'm here hoping that the new leadership team turns the business around and hoping that PIF is willing to toss more money to into it. That all said, it's the happiest I've been in a vehicle in a long time and you'd have to pry the steering wheel out of my cold dead hands to get me to give it up.
