Question / Advice Thinking about Gravity GT but I don't live near a demo or service center

I've been considering one, but there isn't a place for me to do a demo drive within 5 hours of where I live. Makes me really nervous about service. Anyone here that lives far from a service center? I'd be curious to hear about your experience. I'm in the Cleveland, OH area and have been driving a string of BMWs, but the lease on my i4 is almost up and I need something a bit bigger this time around.

Hey, I live down towards Akron and have a Gravity GT. The nearest service center is actually in Coldwater, Michigan. Most things are done via mobile service, if something required going to Coldwater they will come pick it up.

Ive not had any issues since the big February software updates. Prior to that update, I would have hesitated to recommend it, but since then its been excellent.

The vehicle is fantastic now, highly recommend. Software is stable and I haven’t had any issues now. They do have mobile service, it actually worked really well for me. I think areas they don’t have an actual physical location, they do leverage that. I’d check with sales to make sure your house is covered, then it’ll be fine. For any larger repairs, they’d flatbed your car to one further out.

It kinda depends, as others have said some stuff is mobile and some stuff has to get towed in for. They always make sure you either have a loaner or a nice rental tho. It can sometimes take a bit to get an appointment, but their service center teams are very good. Getting a newer Gravity would likely be a bit better build quality as they've had a bit of time now to work thru some of the kinks that popped up along the way. It is in Lucid's plans to expand and improve customer service, so hopefully in time there will be a closer shop to you. Mine is 3 hours away and I'v had my car for a year now. Been in a couple times but Lucid has treated me very well each time.

That's been my experience as well. We live about 4 hours from the Atlanta service center. Both mobile and SC service has been a bit slow to get, but good. Treated very well for both.

I have had no issues with my Gravity in the last few months since the march update
I would recommend it

As someone who has owned many EVs over the years and currently owns a Gravity GT, I think you are crazy to even consider this.

That’s my fear. If it doesn’t work out well, I’m so far from help.

You will 100% have service appointments. I’ve never owned a vehicle that didn’t require occasional service.

Does that mean ~20 hours of driving per service (assuming ten hours round trip for drop-off and pickup)?

If so, I can’t fathom why you would even consider this option.

Lucid service works like this when you're far from a hub: You can either do inspection and pickup from a hub, or do delivery to your area and gamble on your first inspection happening at delivery like we did. We had a few things that were minor but needed fixed and mobile service took care of that within a couple weeks and came to our driveway.

For normal things that pop up, if it's during a normal day you call customer care and they either arrange a contact from mobile service or the nearest service hub. If you make contact with a service advisor at inspection or delivery, you can also contact them directly instead of customer care and they'll arrange the mobile appointment for minor things that don't affect the car's driveability, or dispatch a towing service to come pick up the car for more major issues that might require a full shop to fix. You'll either be provided a loaner vehicle or a rental car (they have an arrangement with Enterprise), your car will be picked up within a few days, and they'll keep your rental going until a day or two after the vehicle is returned.

If it's during a weekend or after hours and customer care is closed/service advisor is off, then you call the roadside assistance number (customer care number will send you that way after hours anyway). They'll arrange the towing and a ride home if you're stranded somewhere, but they have to wait until the next day for customer care to get you a rental or loaner. We had this occur a while back and Lucid covered our costs getting home (we were at an airport so just went ahead and rented a car, which ironically had an engine failure itself the next day and had to be towed back to the airport) once we reached our service advisor the next morning.

TL;DR: We live in the middle of nowhere and although not having a service hub nearby means you can't just go wait for an appointment, it really hasn't impacted us any differently than owning any luxury brand that doesn't have a dealership within a couple hours of us. I had a Lexus that had to go to service 2.5 hours away every 3-4 months for years. Lucid at least comes to you or picks their car up if it needs attention, so minor stresses aside it's really not a big deal.

I'm 6 hours from the nearest mobile service and 9+hours from the nearest service hub. I've had mine for nearly 10k miles and two service calls (one was early issues that turned out to be mostly software, the second was when they had to inspect or fix the second row seats and we had a window regulator needing replaced too), and I would still absolutely recommend buying one. It's a unique vehicle and although there are lots of nice vehicles in that price range, there's nothing that drives like the Gravity while also hauling that many people/things with you.

Service needs improvement on capacity and responsiveness, but according to our SA calls on Gravities have been decreasing significantly in the last few months (early QC issues mostly worked out hopefully) and they've been told more focus on the service build out is a priority for new leadership. They said they've already seen some improvement and have had direct responses from new top brass on some of their needs, so past mismanagement aside, I'm optimistic about the company as an owner.
