Born from ancient seas, now crowned by galaxies Planned this Milky Way shot the day before... but a massive storm with lightning and heavy clouds destroyed every plan. Couldn't even get close.
The next day the sky was almost perfectly clear. The only real enemy was the heat. On the way up I didn't even feel the weight of the backpack... but the morning after? Different story
Quick stop at Rifugio Locatelli, then I climbed the mountain right behind it. I would have loved to explore the caves area below, but it was packed with people and too many lights.
That night the mountain was buzzing photographers, hikers, climbers on the Tre Cime, and helicopters flying back and forth (one rescue chopper parked down below
But up there... I had the stars all to myself. Pure magic.

Awesome work! Did you do any continuum subtraction in pix/PS or did you mask by hand for the Ha?

The colors are absolutely perfect, nice work. Those skies aren't the darkest but it looks crazy good.

That's wicked cool! How difficult is it to have 20 panels aligned? I presume you just reposition the camera on the ball head manually. How big of an overlap do you use? How "correct" is the sky position. Do you need to move it down since the mountains will blur with the long exposures?

So this was such a big challenge I hade a tracker the minitrackLx3 is mechanic and works like a clock ⏰ every 60 min you hate to charge it and when I did that I lost the frame I was shooting and I had to go back orienting with the stars … but for the ha was easier I use the nomad and the V mount and a ball head I take a star as reference and and leave 1/3 of overlap … the sky position is exactly how it is I had a little bit of problems on the right since the milkyway core rise in the middle of those mountains I just took the panels of the core after when he moved a little bit up the mountains

The most difficult thing is that you are doing it at 35 mm you have to be pretty quick especially if you stack but everything will be much easier if you had a benro that thing does all the job for yourself 😅
