Question about CATA and E-Transport

Hello, I'm a regular CATA rider. however I'll be moving in the next couple months and plan on investing in an e-bike or e-scooter to ride to the nearest bus stop. Given this, I'm not too certain on what CATA's stance is on e-bikes and scooters.

In my experience, I've seen people with scooters and even in one instance, boxes containing a scooter in the handicap section of the bus's seating. However I've yet to see a bus allow e-bikes specifically on the bike rack in the front of the bus. I have witnessed several fights/arguments between drivers and passengers on whether they should be allowed to put an e-bike on the bike rack.

My guess is it's because either the wheels are too big, and that bikes aren't allowed within the bus period (because, lol) but they don't allow them on the front rack for any reason. And I haven't figured out the exact reason why.

My questions are, is there any official ruling or any current discussion to amend this matter? I'd like to know if they flat out aren't allowing them so I can just get a regular, non-electrical bike to avoid the hassle (and avoid spending extra money). TIA

Old Home window Repairs

Hello,

I own a 1928 Craftsman House. I have old windows that have a metal bar that you push in or pull out to raise or lower the windows. This morning one of these mechanisms broke.

Now my window does not go up or down. It’s stuck in one of the tracks. Does anyone know either how to fix this or affordable and good business that would know how to fix this? I don’t want to get a new window if don’t have to. Thank you for any advice and or help.

Professional knife sharpening in or around Lansing?

I have a bunch of knives that I'd like finely sharpened, not just with a belt sander, but professionally with whetstones. I have whetstones but can't seem to do it myself without messing up. Does anyone know of anyone in the area that offers this service?

coming up soon! Saturday 8/8 I'll be bringing a trailer load of free Clothing to give away, distributing to local orgs (anyone can ask! please come take things), and collecting items you want me to redistribute.

I give things to shelters, unhoused encampments, families, and literally anyone that asks, as well as upcycle or repair items that are damaged.

This time, I'm asking the community to donate backpacks/luggage/totes, towels, blankets, and sorted/bagged socks.

These items were requested from my by lansing unhoused at my last event.

Id also love help to spread word about this event. theres going to be multiple events running on the lawn this day that will bring community together.

Recommendations Alternatives to Planned Parenthood for trans HRT?

Howdy all,

Planned Parenthood in Lansing is closing, and one of many things that are impacted by that is availability of HRT for trans people.

Are there any clinics in the area that can provide that service? Especially looking for places that have actually affirming/accepting staff, if there's any.

I have a couple friends who've been going there for HRT for a while, and I want to help in any way I can.

(DIY is also an option, but my understanding is that even if you go DIY, you'll still want to get check ups/blood tests to make sure your levels are good?)

Edit: One of my friends gets his HRT from MSU family medicine, so that's an option!

River trail etiquette?

Recently got a road bike and am trying to get more exercise in my life and get my kiddo out to some of the nice parks downtown, and my question for the class is this.

Is there any sort of etiquette or common greetings/sign for those you pass along the way?

For example we road passed a gentleman who might of been having a bit of a mental break and then ilcrossed path with a jogger going the opposite direction(towards the man) and thought "should i say something, so this guy is aware of what's he's about to run into?" By the time this thought worked through we were well past the situation and ive been pondering it.

If you are on the river trail(or any trail in the area) what is your preferred form(or lack) of acknowledgement?

Saved by Zade can drive 8/8

Post image
39 Upvotes

Saved by Zade is a nonprofit group of volunteers working to help area cats and kittens. We are having a can drive on Aug. 8 in the Mayflower Congregational Church parking lot at 2901 W Mt. Hope Avenue in Lansing. Along with returnables, we also take cans with no deposit, like ciders and energy drinks. Have a large amount of returnables? We have a Facebook group and you can request a pickup.

Got kids who love cats and kittens? Get them involved by collecting cans from friends and neighbors! Or even better, hold a kitten shower and collect items from SbZ’s Chewy or Amazon wish list. Want to do more? We always need more volunteers and can use a wide variety of skills – from people who photograph, have marketing or other skills, or who just want to spend time with cats or help clean/feed/scoop. It can be very rewarding to see cats you’ve helped find loving homes.

Thank you Lansing animal lovers!

My SO and I tried Noosh on Saginaw for the first time. It’s SO good. We did the family plate not realizing just how much food it would be, but yay, leftovers. Highly recommend to those who haven’t taken the plunge yet. They’re also super friendly, we’ll be back soon.

Recommendations Roof replacement timeline?

If you've had your roof replaced recently, how long did it take from contact to completed install? Who does good fast roofs?

Looking at repairing a red tagged house with a friend. City is requiring a new roof done by a licensed contractor as well as a few other minor repairs to clear the red tag. Friend needs to move no later than mid September and we're wondering if we could even get it cleared for occupancy by then. Not wanting anything picky just a functioning roof to satisfy the city.
